this record is the result of a twenty-day trip to japan. led by anthropologist and label founder fred scharf and his vox populi records crew, this is the second instalment on the �field works� series. this 12�� vinyl release is a collection of field recordings, jam sessions, studio recordings, street soundscapes, religious rituals, fighting championships and wedding ceremonies, all of which were remixed and reinterpreted by japan blues, tim karbon, hiroaki oba & shizka (aka inoue shirabe), delivering tracks whose core represents a wide array of traditional japanese sounds.

argument #03 is the third instalment in cage suburbia�s series of argument ep�s, as well as their first 12� vinyl release. it shows the duo of haunter records� co-founder daniele guerrini (also in heith) and matthias girardi (aka weightausend) raising the confrontation level to a new high. mixing their technoid barrage with jungle breakbeats, noise and dub techniques at various bpm speeds, they do not fail to deliver the usual amount of radical acid distortion. as with the other two �arguments�, this ep represents a heavy anti- authoritarian stance in both sound and concept. �rob the bank. kill the guards : sampling klaus maeck�s pirate cult classic �decoder�, cage suburbia openly call for cultural infection and street-wise spiritual resistance. this is punk rock for the paranoid age, insurrectional party music, intelligence research for the funnier side of destruction. as always, it�s been cut and edited from a series of improvisations on hardware samplers, drum machines and various sound sources, recorded live from a stereo output. comes with a set of stickers to incite riots in your neighbourhood.

following their ongoing relationship with soma records, ukrainian duo woo york are set to release their new record that proves to be somewhat representative of recent dramatic events in their country. entitled i am against, both the main track and the ep itself are referring to the developments that lead to revolutionary struggle of the ukrainian people. fighting inequality, saying what you have to say and doing what you have to do seem to be the core ideas of the record. you might have figured that out yourself by spotting a rebel protester from january�s clash with riot police depicted on the record sleeve. the ep also features a special remix from uk techno producer, Ø phase. music-wise the ep presents the same idea: the epic energy of the title track highlights the drive that was fuelling peaceful individuals to go out onto the streets and fight for their rights. an excellent remix from Ø phase follows a similar path, although in its own original way that has made the uk-based artist�s name associated with the finest techno to date. closing the ep �in the end� is a more abstract side of woo york�s music works that reminds us once again: every single act of violence is bound to come to an end at some point.
