the latest release on two faces shows a slightly different side of the label and introduces the new artist björn leineweber. björn combines modern electronic clubmusic with rock and punk influences and his special german vocals to a very own style. the original mix of >dieser ton< shows his full talent for writing exceptional lyrics, beautiful harmonies and creating unique sound designs. a track with a lot of feelings. on a2 we find position:greenfield - an artist out of the label environment. he developed a remix with classic techno elements and unexpected variances. a track for the early morning hours to deeply touch the crowd. on the flip the label boss himself makes a very compact groovy floorburner. perhaps one of the hits in 2008 ... no more words needed

born in the same star sign as joey negros sunshine band project, the super phonics are all about invoking that classic soulful 70s disco sound, but to an updated house blueprint, with a little bit of soul and funkn thrown in for good measure. performed by a stirling group of live musicians, including session players for groove armada, incognito, us3, the james taylor quartet, the brand new heavies and the herbaliser, you know the tunes are gonna be good to go! first up is their cover of the linda williams classic elevate our minds - a timeless soul number that has graced the decks of many a southport weekender as well as being recently sampled on ben westbeechs drum and bass smoocher get closer. the super phonics take it back to the raw, with this soul drenched cover. over on the flip, is the bands own composition have a good time, a jumping and pumping disco groover that should find favour on most open minded dancefloors.

the tracks from the recently released full length of nublu orchestra beg for remixes, and the underground resistance militiamen take up the task for sketches of nyc. the i 80 mix is a big thumper, using a scatted vocal line and dissonant horn hits from the original to add drama to the build of an acid bassline and some tastefully tribal drums. the seventh tunnel mix falls squarely in the tech jazz genre that was essentially invented by the detroit collective. the original elements of sketches are used generously, with what seems like a grace note on the upright being turned into a looped bassline, over which the lead vocals and saxophone ping back and forth. must have!!

in the beginning the was a dream, a dream to become part of the living womb of good music. a dream of being real, true to myself and i set this dream to fly high. days and years passed by and i didn t seem to find response but one day in the arkest hour came the light and then i knew i had to hustle it s a song about my determination to express myself widely whitin the realm of good music, won t be selling my soul, won t be taking the easy path, its all about what is real, training harder and harding until i get what i want: the pure sound of goodness for the dancefloor, for my life and the whole world. that s how i hustle. abicah soul confuzed well this track started as another track but i took the sounds from anohter track put with this that how i came up with the idea confused .i started listening sounded good i stuck with it.onw word deep stephen rigmaiden jeepin basically jeepin was done and i was listening to acapella s for like 2 weeks trying to find the right vocal snippets. my thoughts were how was i going to get franck s interest? i knew the track was done but for him to pick it up it needed a vocal. then i came across the perfect vox. i used a montage of a few different vocals, some hip hop elements, some jazz elements, some gospel elements, ill leave up to you to decipher. i knew i wanted a raw, kinda hip hop type of feelingas well, something you can get on the dance floor and go uggh!, that s my shit!! or damn i gotta get in that circle and show em whats up! i made it for the dancers out there, b- boys, house dancers , or jus ya regular club kids. trying to get the crowd hype is always my intentions , i feel this track does jus that. now get on the dance floor and recognize the sound!

>life is the only drug i wont ever give up<. this is probably the most life-affirming claim ever forwarded by ware- labelboss matthias schaffhäuser and its made to fit the party. and as hes being the guest on a very special label hes going all the way. totally in accordance with the wir-label-philosophy, the title track shows off lots of modern producing skills, never sticking to just one rigid idea but coming along with a whole bunch of attitudes. pop-induced vocals are artfully woven into minimal beats, housy strokes meet sound concrète, and the whole combines to one neverending track, leaving the elitist style ghetto behind and delivering itself to the pulsating life outside, leading to a truly beautiful work clearly thats one hell of a challenge for every remixer, but lovable atom smahing mathias kaden is the right man at the right place, as he knows how to deal with emotional content under the influence of the contemporary raw. his eleven-minute-opus tightens, focalizes, piles and moves around the original material, but without betraying its spirit. this remix seems larger than life but still maddingly gripping and you get the overwhelming impression that here every angle leads to another, every bit communicating. its a nation under the groove, all in one track, and its here to be heard

the brilliant morphine records come with it again. a sweeter and more jazzed out excursion than previous adventures on the label – this venice based band roll out music made with an intergalactic vision. strong stuff and backed up by a very raw track from ra.h aka morphosis!

this time again offering some delightful grooves that will be appreciated both by the dance floor crowd and home listeners. nicely starting off the ep is berlin based greek producer ekkohaus - on his second tune for the label with a very detroit-influenced track, massive elements of groove and funk, exploding half-way through and teasing the listener as the snare/clap comes in on the half beat. this tune will be largely enjoyed by both techno and house fanatics. next one on the list is italian marco shuttle, offering a slightly different approach with his deep, long & repetitive journey of soft synth chords and elegant elements that remind of cadenza releases, providing a perfect tune for the after-hours or stylish warm up. on the flip we find ourselves with a huge tune from queen atom, perfect for the peak time hours in those big packed club rooms: a combination of detroit-esque funk, with trippy back melodies and percussive 909 toms waving through the atmosphere, resulting in a dark yet groovy slow-tempo techno piece. strikingly finishing off the ep is argentinean artist rudolf, already known for his previous releases on sthlm, who delivers an enormous experimental track with intensely layered vocal melodies: eerie, ghostly and combined with many industrial aspects, the result is an immense bubbly, watery track that will indisputably drive clubbers insane throughout the globe.

quagmires third >artist ensemble< ep introduces the first four new artists to the labels roster. this quartet hails from dutch soil, william kouam djoko residenting in amsterdam as mical rhebess, pevanu and tim woestenenk living in the so called >backcorner< of east holland, near the german border. non of these young and talented producers released solo on vinyl before, which gives quagmire the absolute releasing debuts for these close friends of the label. william kouam djokos serialism repetition fills the complete logo side. this loopy bomb sucks you in a whirlpool of wet percussions and snareriffs. transitions are hardly recognizable and changing elements seem to continue. dynamic and delicate techhouse as never seen before on quagmire. tim woestenenks sunset love on the info side sets the elegant mood for this ep. microhouse in its purest form, stripped down to the most functional sounds. a big stab and a broken oriental stringinstrument give this track a incredible sense. timeless club music

step forward dubfire (aka ali shirazinia from grammy winning dj and production duo deep dish) whos already hit top form this summer with some tasty releases on desolat, funkwelle.net and whose thumping >emissions< features on the minus compilation >expansion contraction<. the beauty of this rework is that it doesnt stray far from the original vibe. dubfire pays the track the full respect it deserves, adding contemporary beats, bass and hat patterns, subliminal efx and tweaks that perfectly compliment the eq sweeps and machine gun snare rolls of the original. panikattack (originally released on plus 8 in 1996 as the b side to sickness) gets a more radical overhaul with guido schneider turning in a typically pragmatic version. by excavating and enhancing the gritty funk that lies buried under the feverish textures of the original, he discovers a totally new dimension. combining the plastik elements with his own trademark swing and razor sharp percussion programming, schneider coaxes the track out of the shadows for some serious peak time action as the bassline bounds forward relentlessly occasionally enveloped by stuttering delays, to negotiate its way through the dubbed out breakdown and on to the end

sheldon romero is back in tha house. dirty things, dirty beats, dirty synths, sexy music! sheldon combines organic elements with electronic sounds and creates a high quality house tune. sebastian gnewkow (musica diaz ) and norm (caballero / king kong rec.) teamed up for an outstanding dirty electro remix. also you find a brilliant remix by sheldons cousin jorge jaramillo on the vinyl.

the original track is a fusion between bips, bleeps, aggresive drums and acid basslines – among all this is an absolutely beautiful synth theme that is the key element of the track. yousef delivers the remix thats a raw thing using the syntherzeiser riff from the original and giving it an even more raw sound.
