following up the fantastic summer re-release of upsetting keys “empathy” ep, path records follows with its first new catalogue number since 2006. path 008 marks the return of artist fate 258, whose 1999 “why 2k” path 001 ep has been a hotly sought after item on discogs. the three-track ep contains two exciting new mixes of cult classic techno track “the path”. the a-side version “path to hell” is the harder of the pair, a dark edgy journey into the unknown with shuffling 808 rhythms providing much of the melody. “path to heaven” slows the groove down and adds warm juno pads throughout the mix for a very deep detroit flavored techno style. on the final track “heaven or hell” sort of a broken beat downtempo piece, sparse vocals and bladerunner samples mix to complete the dystopian concept. these mixes of “the path” are considered pre-mixes, as they were completed in 1998 before the original release of path 001. fate 258 is a project from brooklyn producer reade truth, known for his work over the last decades on labels such as planet e, sonic groove, n-syde, wurst and strictly rhythm to name a few. limited to 250 worldwide, with the first 100 including full black and white cover art.

this newly inspired project has also been launched as a partnership with hometown friends - nitin and former art department band-mate kenny glasgow in support of an issue very close to their hearts - animal cruelty. white has recently begun work on maac (music against animal cruelty), a charity project started with long time friend and pulse radio founder wade cawood. the charity will serve as a fundraising initiative with plans to galvanize the support of the electronic music industry and to help raise money and awareness to protect african wildlife facing the threat of diminishing population or extinction. social experiment will serve as a non profit record label with 100% of proceeds donated to maac.

fvonk is ready to start on an adventure full of housey tunes and positive vibes. for record number 001 drei farben house from berlin lives up to the labels name and delivers three highly funky tracks which draw their inspiration from warm and melodic soul and disco music from back in the days. 70s inspired vocals and bass guitars dominate these pieces and are combined with fluently rolling drums, altogether carrying drei farben house s characteristic thumbprint. the artwork of the record has been concieved by till sperrle who is also known for his graphic design for dial and tenderpark. mastering and lacqeur cut have been realised by stefan betke at scape mastering.

a dream and a trip into de pure house music, subtle and dynamic born with this 001 of discos nutabe. from the aburra valley, colombia, perpetuating the essence of music in time with limited vinyl copies is their purpose. for this first cut, we present the debut of dcm with his origenes, a record that has a very noble sentiment: the revival of classic house music which only causes movement, in body and soul.

the second release of inkblots involves three great artists deeply active into the international techno scene: the japanese go hiyama and the berlin based duo i/y. on side a, go hiyama’s first track ‘recur’ delivers sinister atmospheres matched with a tough kick and industrial bleepy elements. slow and paranoic drones get in and out contributing to enlarge the sound perception. the second track ‘prop’ introduces elegant hi-hats and strident synths. a captivating kick perfectly embraces the shrill synths waving together with the sharp drum, what remains of the first side is just tense ambients, forewarning the journey is not over. side b smells like a dark club firing up, indeed i/y’s aim is not different at all. ’thesys 0000.001’ debuts with a thin bassline and distorted grave surroundings. the track evolves with clean slap hats sound in an empty echo chamber. deep timbres rise and fall, turning the entire route gently aggressive. the second track is an idm experiment which keeps a trippy approach and the clarity of claps and hi-hats. solid as the first one, ‘thesys 0000.003’ sets itself as an hypnotic but pleasant moment where suspicious fragments quickly appear and disappear: a sparkled trip to be enjoyed anytime but not by anyone.

r002 sees a long-time jaunt favourite deepa & biri, take centre stage. the israeli duo have long been considered expert producers by those in the know, with releases on the likes of gigilo, transmat and their own black crow imprint very much indicative of the fact. the basement cuts ep, meanwhile, goes some way to solidifying this fledgling reputation. full of psychoactive tendencies and brimming with otherworldly sounds, the title track sees the pair delve deep, as they summon up a cut thats notable for its obsessive eye for detail and an unfurling array of captivating sounds.

this is potion number one. murat tepeli is known for a style of house music that is rooted in the formative years of house, without any nostalgia but absorbent of the here and now. on this ep, he showcases his love for bass and what he considers fun on the dancefloor.

001 is from the label boss himself and features the stripped, staccato sounds of the title track and the stealthy purring acid of isolation. the labels first remix selection sees andre look to argentina and two of the countries finest musical exports, jonas kopp and pfirter. both take terminus into tougher territory where kopp twists the piercing note of the original and pfirter assaults us with his blistering drum work.

defaultbox strikes again. the black cube ep by patrick brøsin is armed with four substantial techno tracks including one remix. this time we could inspire tresor resident krenzlin and diego hostettler the head of belief system records. the collaboration between them is probably unknown for most of the people, but releases on nachtstrom schallplatten or affin ltd by krenzlin as well as on kanzleramt or u-turn by diego hostettler speak for themselves.

hot on the heels of the success of vision collector 001, the irish imprint returns with the debut release from dublin dj / production duo, rsch 14, who deliver a diverse techno session with four cuts primed for the most discerning floors.

skylax welcomes f.t.g., known to house music scholars as freddy the groove, and his many friends for our next release in 2014. last year, f.t.g. and his italian partner in crime, marco riff (who also appears on this very record), pressed a very limited run of a single-sided, special throwback tribute to late 80s chicago house music. the track was aptly named ‘tribute ’89’, and it put a more dancefloor oriented twist on a track by a certain originator with the initials r.h. needless to say, it became highly sought-after incredibly quickly and fuel was further added to the fire by the repeated club play by none other than the dj idol ricardo villalobos. luckily for our followers, that original mix appears on this ep with another unreleased mix of the track and 2 originals featuring belfie and alex tea alongside f.t.g.with enough said about ‘tribute ‘89’ itself, the unreleased mix maintains the warehouse vibe with a heavy kick and bouncing bass pattern but takes it to another level with the introduction of rolling vocal cuts and a rather ravey synth line. flipping over the to b-side, we are treated with two tracks by f.t.g. and alex tea, named ‘public enemy’ and ‘bango’, with the former also seeing belfie lend a helping hand in the production. both of these originals round out the record nicely and cement it as another skylax release that is definitely not to be missed
