like a bright winged bird! with coquettish grin sirisins rave their path through nowadays unwinding roads of harmonious seductiveness and hardcore narcism. but as whimsy and changeable their personality may seem, they are probably just as confused as everyone else. their weapon of choice resembles a powerful energy source that luminously sparkles between the rising abysses of the universe. this may not be the rear window to all satisfaction, but open it, and you might fly high to the friendly sky.

the pieces were created as structured improvisations using a monophonic synth (primarily) along with a yamaha dx7 (borrowed from a friend) and possibly a guitar. recording was made on an older otari mx5050 1/2 8 track. mixing was done on a tascam m-50 console and a revox a77 1/4 machine. i recall the project happened in two bursts: i did half of it in september 85, then i finished up and edited the album together in december 85. i dont really recall making copies for anyone. i think i played it for a dozen people and that was it. just forgot about it. i remember jeff ament from pearl jam (green river back then) came by while i had it playing on my home stereo. he asked what it was and said he liked it. surprised me a little. with regard to overall aesthetic: i like the sound of machinery, but i enjoy the fragility of human error and human instinct. i like to put things into motion then climb aboard and drive. i can’t play an instrument (in the classical sense) for the life of me, so i’ve always just played things that are mostly choice rather than a convolution of style and technique. i guess you call that the brian eno school of rock.

with releases on loxy’s cylon and a track on the final hardware lp, the enigmatic shiken hanzo goes all-in on the first vinyl release on his own label hojo clan - and it’s an absolute lesson in claustrophobic half-time futurism.
the title track drapes the relentless velvety punch of 808s in a swirling landscape of spidery synth trails and mushrooming low-end radioactivity, reminding us of clarity’s precision futurescapes on samurai.
“yari vip” exhumes the bones of “shadowboxing” in its melody and layers them hypnotically across another dark, interrupted creeper.

loco dices desolat label welcomes uk artist waff for its next ep, a meaty four tracker by the name of hanzz sup. in recent times, waff has really established himself as one of the beacons of main room house and techno around the world. from standout sets at key ibiza clubs to gigs at fabric, london via big underground hits on labels like drumcode, cocoon and hot creations, he is a real man of the moment. the title track opens the ep in fine style with hulking great big kicks reverberating down low as wonky tones and scattered percussion add more heat. barreling along and taking no prisoners, it is a hugely physical drum track with spoken word mutterings piling on the pressure. making just as big an impression but in less direct ways, the shuffling and bubbling karimba is a skittish, busy affair with tribal drums and vocal chants all layered up into something that is sure to become anthemic in ibiza this summer. on the flip side hypnotised works on getting into your brain with tight, scurrying drum and percussive patterns that never let up. its a dense, busy arrangement that makes for a high octane ride. last of all inception takes on more of a house feel, with well swung, low slung drums bringing the groove as hammering hits and frosty synth lines keep busy up top. this is house and techno that makes a big impact from one of the most on point producers out there right now.
