fresh water is the debut work by london based musician and visual artist, jake marshall. across eight tracks marshall twirls and bends his sound palette around motifs of emergency and crisis, “i was interested in distress sounds, sirens, flares etc”. the many sonic limitations in fresh water demonstrate marshall’s uniqueness. all kinds of plastic, caustic sounds, german ambulance sirens, bleeps rattling off unknown morse code, the highly synthetic strings emerging from the silence, it creates a somehow organic yet inhumane, but addictive turbulence.

following on from the very successful re-issue of the ‘little i ep” by fresh and low, foul & sunk records are proud to announce the release of fresh and low’s seminal deep house classic ‘wind on water’. originally released on chicago’s guidance imprint in 1996 this record put the glasgow producers firmly on the deep house map with it’s soulful blend of sparse beats, emotional pads and funk-laden fat bass-lines. re-mastered and re-cut with care and love, this release still sounds contemporary and yet retains that special vibe from the time it was created. a true house music classic.

born of introspective in 2010, & mixed & processed for years by fresh meat founder mazi namvar, aka audio soul project. “left there” on the flip is joined by a tevo howard mix that gives the tune solid dance floor footing.

this 2lp edition was specifically curated by sam gendel to highlight fresh bread moments across two lps, and includes 18 of the 52 tracks from the digital release, at a total runtime of 1hr 24 minutes.

the valley and the mountain (josh dahlberg) drop this 4 track ep on central scientific with a mix of electronic tracks ranging from contemplative and mellow to more dancefloor driven--including a remix from dj aakmael (ndtal, poker flat). this ep documents an artist in transition, migrating from deep on detroit’s westside to the furthest reaches of the pacific northwest, and represents a fresh start for josh dahlberg’s established tvtm alias. the result is a range of interwoven styles across the four tracks, casting a hazy vibe with a healthy low-end workout throughout. limited pressing.
