chris kordas neues album -more than four- ist eine rhythmische ketzerei: elektronische tanzmusik, die nicht nur im ungeraden takt, sondern auch im komplexen polymeter spielt. jeder track des albums verwendet mindestens vier taktarten auf einmal, darunter 3, 4, 5 und 7. der titel ist eine anspielung auf das miles davis-album -four & more- von 1966.

reissue des legendären debütalbums -the silicon dawn- des us-produzenten und heutigen wahlberliners dan curtin, das 1994 auf peacefrog erschien. in bester detroit-manier schaffte es curtin, melodien und harmonische ebenen über komplexe percussion zu legen, was damals auf innovative art und weise die gängige techno-norm sprengte. für das fact magazin grund genug, das album heute in der rubrik -the greatest techno albums you ve never heard- zu führen.

vor mehr als einer dekade erschien das großartige debütalbum -attack decay sustain release- des englischen duos simian mobile disco auf wichita recordings. für ihr fünftes album mit dem titel -murmurations- haben sich die beiden das schwarmverhalten (auf englisch -murmurations-) von vögeln als vorlage genommen und zusammen mit den sängerinnen des londoner deep throat choir (bella union) ein besonderes klangkonzept entwickelt. nahezu unheimliche soundstrukturen steigen aus einem meer an stimmern empor und bilden ungewöhnliche wie komplexe akkorde und harmonien. das bedeutet jedoch nicht, dass das album avantgardistisch oder schwierig ist. vielmehr vermischen sich die stimmexperimente perfekt mit den bekannten techno/dancefloor-beats des duos.

das kreative universalgenie virgil abloh, bestens bekannt für seine modearbeiten, liefert zusammen mit boys noize das ebenso kraftvoll ausgeführte kollaborationswerk -orvnge- ab, eine wahre clubwaffe, die simpel in bewegung gebracht wird, um sich in unerwartet schöne komplexität zu entfalten. ein starker beginn einer hoffentlich fruchtbaren zusammenarbeit.

der schwedische produzent kasbo veröffentlicht sein debütalbum auf odeszas label family collective! im bislang wohl aufregendsten moment seiner karriere kündigt der aufstrebende schwedische produzent kasbo sein debütalbum places we dont know via foreign family collective/ counter records erscheint. mit seinem dreizehn tracks langen projekt „places we don’t know“ welches unter anderem vocal-features von tender, amanda fondell, nea und charlie kim enthält hat kasbo seinen sound sehr raffiniert und zu sich selbst gefunden. Über das ganze album hinweg brilliert er geradezu und hat seine bislang stringenteste und überzeugendste musik überhaupt produziert. er geht aktiv auf entdeckungsreise und stellt musikalische ideen gegenüber, wodurch melancholisch-schöne tracks entstehen, die zwar komplex sind, zu denen man aber schnell eine beziehung aufbaut.

am elften september 2015 erlebte das publikum der konzertserie die erste live show des duos john gürtler und phillip sollmann unter einer autobahnbrücke in offenbach. präsentiert von dem international music institute darmstadt in zusammenarbeit mit dem institut für klangforschung offenbach und der hfmdk frankfurt, wurde man zeuge einer einzigartigen auralen konversation innerhalb dieses überwältigenden settings. ein jahr später fand sich ein fragment der aufnahme des brückenkonzerts auf der sky walking label compilation 41.36 und nun erscheint das erste album der beiden musiker. phillip sollmann und john gürtler treffen sich 2011 im gerade fertiggestellten studio komplex the meadow, in berlin wedding. seitdem herrscht ein reger austausch an ideen und ihre zusammenarbeit beginnt ganz pragmatisch mit einem experimental remix, einer akustischen version von john gürtler für sollmanns techno projekt efdemin, veröffentlicht anlässlich einer reihe von remixen auf dial records.

wer so groß ist wie grönemeyer, der muß nicht auf verkaufszahlen schielen und kann in ruhe so ein album machen wie es bleibt alles anders ist. da wird dem hörer schon einiges abverlangt. die stimme lässt keinen zweifel zu: das ist schon herbert aus bochum aber in großer experimentierstimmung. so erinnert fanatisch musikalisch sehr stark an -riders on the storm von den doors, während herbert seinen bedrohlichen text offenbar in einen telefonhörer hineinsingt. das titelstück wiederum ist ungeheuer dynamisch und intensiv. beide vereint die tatsache, dass man der message wirklich nur mit hilfe des cd booklets folgen kann. ich dreh mich um dich erschließt sich hingegen sofort: der komponist von flugzeuge im bauch hat das balladenschreiben nicht verlernt. bleibt alles anders ist ein komplexes kunstwerk. man muss sich sehr darauf einlassen und wird dafür mit wachsendem hörgenuss belohnt. was grönemeyer über die dauer von mehr als einem jahr in enger zusammenarbeit mit dem programmierer alex silva geschaffen hat, findet man auf dem deutschen markt so schnell nicht noch einmal. wolfram lumpe

mit ihrem debütalbum -polyamour- bot clara moto 2010 eine frische, intelligente und dezidiert weibliche perspektive auf das männlich dominierte techno-gerne. ihr nachfolger -blue distance- ist ein ebenso persönlich geprägtes werk, das aber gleichzeitig komplexer, nachdenklicher und auch melancholischer ausfällt, ohne dabei auf clubkompatible momente wie -hedonic treadmill- oder -placid kindness- gänzlich zu verzichten.

der britische ausnahmeproduzent darren daz cunningham, besser bekannt als actress oder neuerdings azd (acid ausgesprochen) ist mit einem neuen album auf ninja tune zurück! spätestens seit seinem 2014 veröffentlichten album ghettoville welches auf dem von ihm mitbegründeten ninja tune sublabel werkdiscs erschien wird er als einer der größten innovatoren elektronischer musik gehandelt. das album vereint komplexität spielend mit eleganz und verschmelzt zusammenhanglose wortkonstruktionen und elektronische klangwelten mit hilfe neuester ghetto cut up technologie. cunningham selbst beschreibt das neue album als non dance based civillian mind groove, mapped to an external soul beyond the collapsing black hole…music is chaos r.i.p music

10th release on fasrat is the debut record of mr yo so hailing from the west pomerania region of poland (same as his label mate das komplex), rafal reich is an experienced musician. from playing piano in modern jazz groups to woodwinds in a brass band and synths in his home studio, his music displays rare sensibility and an ear for lovely melodies. delicious brings together six tracks recorded during last few years, from dreamy new age-ish soundtracks to proper balearic sunrise/sunset anthems, with obvious echoes of 70s lords of synth. cheesy, yes, but its this kind of rich, mature, delicious cheese we all like, dont we?
