only few artists have managed to develop their own distinct style to such perfection as abe, while remaining almost entirely unknown to the public ear. he dwells in minimal music, abstract structure and well-crafted melancholia. -peasants sought instead- itself is heavily influenced by modern classical music, modal jazz and world music and is at times demanding, while remaining slightly subdued. style-wise it can be seen as ambient, though abe doesn t feel completely at home in this genre, because of its emphasis on atmosphere rather than structure. recorded at abe s home in rotterdam, it is his strongest work to date and already highly appreciated by some of the most exquisit selectors around.

the artists and inventors, along with the many other notable composers present on this 2lp compilation, are the true innovators in the sounds and science of electronic music and its production. they are the ones responsible for the dawn of a much revered genre, the originators of the musical concepts that have since developed into what we now know as electronica and dance. these are the true pioneers of electronic music.

fast-moving times, in which popularity and quality are often equated or commonly confused with one another, aids and abets this imitation game some call conformity, others professionalism. in the end, both paths will end up in predictability. heres where stathis kalatzis, aka mr. statik, comes to play. the resident at athens’ multi-purpose cultural space six d.o.g.s has not only been one of the scenes pivotal figures, but since he started to release his first solo releases in the mid-00s, the now berlin-based greek dj has earned a reputation for being a trend-ignoring, unconventional producer. whether his output for bpitch control, rotary cocktail, or even last years debut ep rogue cherub for away mr. statik enjoys thinking outside the box by crossing his diverse pop-cultural interests and pulling in expertise and perspective from beyond the usual functional formulas. after a decade of not staying in one comfort zone or sticking to one musical direction, he finds himself more comfortable in his producer shoes presenting his debut album metamorphose. housing a few film references in this for mr. statik typical nebulous fashion, the ten tracks not only carrying the narrative potential of an imaginary score, but primarily exploring a versatile array of influences, themes, and contradictions (which mr. statik as an illustrator also united on the albums artwork). ranging from the sci-fi infused album opener insomnia, the first non-dancefloor piece he ever produced around 7 years ago, over?

orient meets occident. collector edition of jaime zenamon’s debut album from 1984 available now! zenamon studied guitar and composition in israel, spain, portugal and in various south american countries. he a was student of abel carlevaro and worked as teacher at the berlin music university (hdk) from 1980 until 1992. the album was recorded at christopher franke’s (tangerine dream) studio and features udo hanten from the cult krautrock project you. similar sound compared to cluster, neu!, kraftwerk but with stronger esoteric world music influences. nandu muley playing the santoor, a 100 string music instrument which was already used by assyrian musicians for the production of their hits some thousand years ago :) originally released on polydor in 1984 the album get’s re-released for the first time by private records in 2015. remastered from the original master tapes at 24 bit. really rare recordings, especially the 12“ is one of the most valuable and sought after german electronic records of the 1980’s.

belcanto-töne gibt es auf diesem album zwar auch, etwa mit dem kammermusikartig vertonten rainer maria rilke-gedicht -der panther-, aber meist geht es auf udo lindenbergs neuem album der exzessor heftig zu. das panikorchester haut auf trommeln, tasten und auch in die saiten. extreme wechselbäder heißt die devise, auch bei themen und gesang.

sowohl der film als auch der soundtrack zu »guardians of the galaxy« sind absolut kult. und da 2017 endlich die fortsetzung des science-fiction-abenteuers von marvel in den kinos läuft, gibt es passend dazu die neue filmmusik: »guardians of the galaxy: awesome mix vol. 2«.

cohens lieder sind ein flammendes plädoyer für die alles heilende kraft der liebe, wenn er mit gebrochener stimme schmerz, zärtlichkeit und sehnsucht durchlebt. dabei ist der einst so karge folkie musika- lisch himmelweit entfernt von leise gesäu- selten suzanne der sixties. seinen apo- kalyptischen poprock hat er diesmal in süffige und stellenweise sogar bombastische arrange- ments gekleidet. besonders haben es mir aber seine liebeslieder angetan: ergreifende me- lodien und warme harmonien finden zu einem flauschigen klangteppich zusammen, auf dem sich unverhohlen erotische texte tummeln.-

nein, kein witz, die dramadigs sind mittendrin in der arbeit an ihrem rapalbum. es hat sogar schon einen namen und wird. aber dazu später mehr. auf jeden fall haben sie dermaßen viele, unfassbar gute beats auf ihren floppys, dass die gar nicht alle aufs album passen. deshalb senden tsnd mrk und konfus rauchzeichen mit einem beattape, das locker als super schmooves intro album durchgeht. made in bremen, gemastert von roe beardy in der brewery und mit artwork von gizem winter. produziert von den dramadigs in ihrem keller in bremen. relaén singt auf washing machine, kuskelmater und hinter der hunte. auf charly weiss und kuskelmater spielt sie keys. flo mega singt, shaked und trommelt auf fehler kuti und trat als effektmeister bei hinter der hunte auf.
