back again we have the mediterranean flavor of the friends affkt and alberto sola. always experimenting with different ingredients like the cooker ferran adria, the guys who laid the first stone of the legendary label barraca, now present a hybrid of pop and house which will leave no one indifferent. ‘pobla loves you’ was born with the tuba of alberto cuartero, orchestra director of hoya gonzalo in albacete. marc and alberto (affkt and sola) wanted to have a typical instrument of a band and merged it with the electronic dance scene, always being faithful to his maxim of making music to dance as well as to listen. if we surround valencia, road to pobla de farnals, we passed through la canada. there are los updates, who upon hearing the organic rhythm of pobla and the work with the wind instruments, set to work with the voices. perfectly adapted to the capital of the turia river, jorge and loreto propose a valencian poem that their children have learned at school. the moon of valencia then join our dinner for four. finally, we add to our paella a bit of percussion and keyboards made in affkt, to get a main course and obtain a typical valencian plate but by adding a little chilean salt becomes international. more oriented to the dance floor, there are three rather different remixes. new union between spain and chile, with danny fiddo and felipe venegas. this couple present an elegant and deep remix with drums and vocals perfectly adapted to the current sound. moreover, the french man darlyn vlys re-interpreted >pobla loves you< with a lot of groove and percussion added. finally, affkt gives his funker version of events to complete a job that will come out by the german label international freakshow

here we have a double a-side 12-inch, with an intriguing new development of the secondo sound. still banging, still aimed at the club but with a sense of maturity and laid-backness, that the previous secondo material for dreck records might not have been centred around. the whole outlook has become more house orientated and we are very excited about this new mixture of the secondo splice-funk with the steadiness of early 90s house generating its own idiosyncratic sound. on the a-side, i think im gonna likeestablishes the housey mood of the 12straight off. a brief vocal sample is dotted over a relaxed rhythm until a break mid-track introduces the second half to its full extent and bloom. ædoktor panglosson the b-side continues with the mid-tempo flavour set out by the aside and is defined by a steady build up towards a disco sample beautifully placed towards the end of the track, where a heavy bass line cuts short the euphoria of disco strings. the sampling and references in both tracks have been pushed to the background and mentioning any of them would not do this exciting new material any justice. its all fresh!

worship recordings with another solid ep release, this time featuring cuts from chris udoh and gary beck. udoh is up first with >hear da muzik<, a driving house gem with a definite dubby flavor, as delays are left to run over solid drum patterns, strong chords, and a rumbling bassline. on the reverse, gary beck keeps the dubby house theme rolling with >stick to the reggae<, which has more of a skank to its rhythm, as dubby delays are again left to exploit stellar percussion, stabbing horns, and a wandering bassline.

trinity all-stars, aka hipp-e and solomonic sound (rob paine & zack eberz) with this cracking newie on worship. as with a bunch of the recent worship releases, >dem a come< is a dubby deep house number, opening with skipping beats and spacey effects before a wicked sub bass comes into play alongside stabbing synths for a sublime basic channel-esque groove. on the flip, the theme continues with >wind up your bass<, again leading in with hi-hats before a ragga rhythm establishes itself, joined swiftly by another superb dubbed out bassline and echoy beats on a track that puts even maurizio to shame! if you like your dubby gear, this release is essential!

the french label pilbus records has decided to strike hard with this new ep, offering us great tracks by nathan hell, who took part of the label adventure a few months ago. >heloise< is a really important track for nathan who expressed his feelings to produce a heavy but groovy bassline gimmick around which the rhythm revolves.

italian audio/visual artist federico leocata, born in 1987, releases his first ep on weme in the weme313 category. inspired and sponsored by heinrich mueller (arpanet, der zyklus, dopplereffekt) he creates an uncluttered and cold electro, totally honest and whole-hearted/flawless. each song has a well defined role in the structure, leaning on a square rhythm, opppresive bass, frightening tunes, giving a futuristic and fantastic music as a result. this first record suggests a prolific future for this young artist.

this scottish producer puts trapez ltd again on the techno map. after a couple of more housy releases on trapez ltd this release is a tougher one.&#8232,,circular star works techno a bit in a post detroit fashion... the sounds smells of industrial sites, burned rubber and has that certain sexy machine rhythm to it which we always felt was the jeff mills factor. they have little glamour about them, they are true and a direct force.

here is finally the first single from yakine, a close member to the eklo family. after his featuring on the hooksey vol.1, he gave us four tracks which he worked specially for this ep. yakine explored a new sound, some more melodic and deeper works, different from his usual stuff. captor of sin, the main track here. we find yakine in a more pop dimension with the vocals. the metric rhythm is mix it up with sub and perky shuffle grooves, everything harmonized through a lead ambiance made of weird synts & pads. then shirp, lead from synths, the track go on in the same vibe, more excentric and percussive, rounded beat, and a slap bass, 80s funk type. on the flip, temptation, a more singular track, a great detroit techno influenced, with his unusual keys and some indus sounds. the story ending with aferone, a deep and sensitive balad, overhang by a poetic piano coming and going all along. solid and versatile 12 inch.

with a clever use of mallets and percussive elements, the track unexpectedly shifts pitch throughout, while the quirky samples and micro-edits drive the grooves throughout the duration of this auditory masterpiece. black jack is a nutty little number with a perfect square like rhythm pattern which creates a marching like swing.

a pair of bangin tribal cuts from brothers vibe on the first release on the mixx label. >conga terado< is all about the beats, with a solid kickdrum laying the foundation for some killer tribal beats and percussion. nothing else used here, its just bangin beats all the way. on the reverse, >slave to the rhythm< opens with a thudding kickdrum alongside some filtered synths and a stabbing vocal before the tribal gear comes into play. again, no bassline here, just layer upon layer of percussion and drums. should be perfect for the pro jocks amongst you to tool around with.

kurbits 004 marks the return of dan andrei who brings the romanian dirt with two dusty, percussive techno tools. first out on the label side is ramble on, an old school house rhythm. driven by a shaker in a jacking groove and topped off with a rambling vocal about nothing at all, because after all these vocals about >house music<, whats left to say? just put the track on and get the groove on! four sticks on the info side is a straight up techno banger built on a rolling house groove. no funny business, just a sublime percussion workout with little but essential hints of melody to let you catch your breath, then straight back to the groove! we sincerely hope youll have as much pleasure with these tracks as we are. well be back soon with new and exciting rhythms. happy mixing!

christian and his band also apply their open-minded jazz attitude to the minimalist house throb of groove la chord by the stockholm-based aril brikha. a crescendo of liquid beats and feverish drums, the track builds to a breathless carnival rush, then sinks back to pure pulsating rhythm again. magnificent.

finally, the long wait is over! we are proud to present the first solo effort by leviste and its been worth the wait. three ultra varied tracks starting with the driving drums and bassline of >senioritis<. >better get used to it< shows off levistes melodic abilities with a beautiful melancholic epic. these first two songs really show what an important role leviste has played in the duos productions over the years. >change the station< rounds things out with a bit of modular synth experimentation over a jacking rhythm track.

basti grub is a specialist for extraordinary and outstanding productions. loving music from his early childhood on. he seems to have a different approach to electronic dance music. these 3 tunes here are combining afro beats with wonderful rhythm driven latino tech house sounds, spanish guitars and smooth but subtle vocals and melodies. its also a bit different from his usual productions concentrating more on rhythm & drums than usually. he left certain elements and hooks out to let the groove develop and this is probably the best thing he could ever do.

laying low in the cut after the much lauded >recession vol.1< mix album and his wrily-titled futuristic crossover >euro dance hit<, caravan label head honcho julian smith aka october returns from deep studio retreat with possibly his best, certainly most forward thinking dance floor record to date. as always october takes a big slice of his inspiration from the detroit techno sound of the 80s and early 90s which is clearly evident on the second cut on this plate in particular. however you simply cannot ignore his perhaps more euro-centric dub tendencies and broken-beat rhythm principles that always inform his overall composition and production ethos.

hyperdub has long been a fan of grime don terror danjahs razor sharp productions, his unparalleled, skittering rhythm science, deadly riffs, brilliant technicolour synth squiggles, gremlin cackle signature and general ear for a catchy tune. on this first ep for the label, he showcase two strains of his many skills. acid cranks up the energy, with an ascending synth crashing into stuttering drums and synths. they play hide and seek with each other for a bit, before the track unexpectedly breaks into a 4 / 4 house rhythm, and then shatters into pieces again. on the flipside, pro plus, terror is joined by long time collaborator d.o.k for a slice of their classic sound - an infectious, twisted sickly sweet synth melody wrapped around syncopated, stop start drums to mean effect.

we are so proud to welcome the talented producer from chicago, kate simko, known for her great work on spectral. kate send us 2 amazing pieces of music... a-side, >lost in time<, made during a trip in argentina, shows the deep, intense and intimist sides of kate music. dark grooves lead by an amazing atmosfere made of pads, synths and keys... like dop said... they were in love with it, and wanted to remix it badly. on the b-side, the dop remix is a great reinterpretation of the track with a pop feeling, where jaw bring his vocals. another version of the remix, a really and special one will be released in 2010 on eklo. the second track gets in a more housey feeling, but still deep with famous kates rhodes/synthssounds, and a great toms hooks leading the track through her groovy organic and analogue rhythm.
