you might not think youre familiar with kramer, but chances are youve heard his music before. better known as larrson, the berlin-based dj/producer has released a series of acclaimed 12inchs on esteemed labels like traum schallplatten and bpitch control. he now adopts the kramer guise to deliver a 3-track ep of smart electroinfluenced and minimal house on berlins get physical. kramers first forays into music were as a singer, guitarist and songwriter, it was hearing bpitch boss ellen allien dj for the first time that inspired him to make and play electronic music. his rock/funk prehistory is subtly apparent in the eps a1, >runner<, which begins with a warm, rounded kick and busy, clicking percussion before urgent hi-hats and a hard snare sound take over and aim the tune squarely at the dancefloor. the centrepiece of the track, though, is a synth riff that summons a taste of vintage electro, while sounding purely 2007

archipel brings in two of its friends from uk, newcomer sozadams and moes ferry superstar croatian luka & lazo, for its fifth vinyl outing >tahiti excursion vol. 2< on which soz takes the a side and luka & lazo take the b side both bringing the dirty warehouse funk. soz starts things off with >broken thought< which is a thumping, sweaty late night floor mover which is sure to bend limbs in ways never witnessed before. >liars chair< is a slightly slower pusher which twists and melts along through corroded vocal snippets and dark polyrhythmic moments. luka & lazo take the same attitude of dark funk from sozs a side journey and shred it into a million pieces. >the safe< is a warmer tinged funk but still keeps things moving and grooving while >mood mode< jacks along and rips up a world of digital fabric. archipel keeps up the quality with ease and this is yet another piece of aural evidence to prove it

mihai popoviciu (romania). after his first single for international gigolo records and some smaller releases, this is mihais first ep in 2007. on the a-side >first contact< he starts the other way round. the sequence bores this time the sequence reaches the head before an undulating bassline arrives. then in the perfect teamwork, nobody could stand still. with b1 >capcana< the sequence and the bassline are running at the same time, and will be differently modulated over and over again. b2 >sharp< is based on a rhythmical grooving which develops later with a sequence on his side to a perfect hypnosis

incl massi dl remix !! renato figoli (lo-fi stereo, gumption recordings, trapez) opens the cut restrainedly with bleepy burblings, the kick drum pattern subtly intensifies until, two-minutes in, a pulsating bass line transforms the track into a surging club-house banger. figoli keeps things interesting by incrementally adding fragmented voice snippets that slip comfortably into the groove and by exploiting tension and release with well-timed dropouts and breakdowns. on the b side, massi dl (safari electronique, frankie rec) eschews buildups altogether, opting to leap from the gate with a deep and infectious dance groove overlaid by voice fragments that resemble punctuating barks. acidy synth effects give the tune fleeting psychotropic character before the cut slams into gear with a massive groove

before there was dmx krew , there was 101 force , who released one 12 white label in the early90s on a small underground techno label called infrasonic . now, as acid turns once again, the time is right for 101 force to come back to the scene with the classic squelchy roland sounds you know and love from all those 88-89 classics - plus the uk psychedelic vibe that disappeared from 303 records after everyone started speeding up the tempo and using too much distortion

cynic returns with a great 12inch of disco tastic madness. the grooves are loose, the riffs low slung and the beats punchy. just the kind of stuff we re used to hear from the cynic stable. proper bomb. this e.p features three hot tracks in a tribute to the sundance kid, the a side the sundance kid, comes complete with galloping horses, rattlesnakes and gunshots this track is the wild west meets the mirror ball. the first track on the b side westbound 23, is named after the first train robbery that the sundance kid committed in his early years before he joined the wild bunch, the blaze of glory that finishes the e.p. is a reference to the well documented last stand, where butch cassidy and the sundance kid were surrounded by the bolivian army

monomachine behind the name monomachine lie two well known musicians of the spanish and chilean electronic scene respectively: iñigo oruezábal and francisco allendes. this adventure in minimal code, sometimes more techno and others more house oriented, gathers all the background and joint professional experience of both artists, as a result of years of individual experience in the best dj booths and studios in spain and south america. its a sound that relates directly with the vanguard sounds in the current electronic dance music has its main target in the dance floor, not leaving aside a high quality production which results in an intense and clear sound. here are their latest tracks, released on catwash records.bomb jack on the a side is a tweaky, techy, track with jungle drum and percussion, and a soothing constant bass line that makes this track a great connector in any set. ghost and goblins on the b side starts out with some rhythmic minimal bongo drum sounds before a deep echoey bassline enters and kicks the track into its real journey. the contrasting synth sounds add flavour that turns this into a good boppy track that will get the peeps grooving on the dancefloor!
