Following their celebrated >Meat is Murder< EP, Meat, aka Carsten Schuchmann, teams up with Get Physical regular Einzelkind, Arno Völker and Migual Ayala, for >Words from the Frontline<. The EP opens with its title-track, Words from the Frontline. Indeed, the word >frontline< is appropriate - the firm kickdrum sets the tone and pace before a hi-hat tattoo reminiscent of a military march asserts itself. Rushing synth effects edge in from the sides before the track expands to accomodate a bending, feintly jazzy keyboard motif. This is quickly absorbed into the tracks fierce, linear 4x4 progression, and the addition of crisp snap-claps make this a winning modern take on 2nd wave Detroit-style techno.
