mr mckay is back on drumcode with an ep that is very close to home, titled *glasgow safari*. harvey has blended his synonymous synth stabs and vocal hooks together and has created another outstanding ep. the drums are fat and chunky as always and allow harveys ideas to flow effortlessly over a solid foundation. the smooth use of dynamic throughout harveys tracks also create impressive drops to add to another exceptional ep from harvey.

adult only shape is back with an intriguing collaboration, between the mysterious frenchie monsieur georget and young parisian talent le loup. a combination of the old skool with the new skool, the sounds are just that. each take a pounding bass and a solid minimal-tech stance and layer their character on top. a1 is scattered with futuristic bleeps and computerised murmurs, interspersed with reminiscing vocals, while a2 is the most raw in nature, with a tough techno feel until the smooth overtones set in and a feeling of euphoria takes over. but some may say b1 is say arguably the standout track, for its intoxicating vocal and irresistible underlying swing and groove.

brooklyns person of interest returns to l.i.e.s. after his widely celebrated *call this number* debut from last year. once again we hear p.o.i. delivering the goods on the subtle yet massive*-what you think you want* with its phazed flutes, sleazy vocal, and rough house beats. *keep it moving* does just that on the b-side, again with a slinky laid back and somewhat sinister feel, whereas *my 97s* almost has a grime/uk kind of swing to it. comes in an amazing full sleeve picture cover designed by pete leonard and p.o.i. dancefloor approved.

with a career spanning over twenty-five years and releases across strictly rhythm, kingstreet records and real tone to name a few, tommy bones’ new ‘black concept’ ep brings two tracks that give a modern edge to the classic soulful house sound. ‘black concept’ has a soothing, almost serene sound with the use of jazz influenced instrumental sample but also a beat that allows it to remain predominantly house track. ‘put it on you’ is up-tempo with more of a club designed sound, the vocal of lydia rhodes has an almost seductive sound and the varied tempo gives a sound for the underground dancefloor.
