!!!!!!strictly limited to 500 copies!!!!!! together with stefan goldmanns debut cd the transitory state, macro releases a strictly limited box set containing five 7? records holding the electroacoustic album voices of the dead. with his releases for innervisions, perlon and macro stefan goldmann has been a key figure at the cutting edge of post minimal techno and the renewal of house music. this album is a distinctively different affair though, reaching far beyond the scope of dancefloor electronics. starting a trilogy of concept albums, stefan goldmann searches for the common root of all music in an electroacoustic setting. from this album turret is already renowned as the intro sequence of richie hawtins groundbreaking de9 transitions mix compilation and was also commissioned by the biblioteque nationale de france for the imeb phonoteque public collection. the artist explains: at first sight we recognise upfront elements like a melody or rhythmic pattern, which we associate with a certain piece or style of music, but there is tension between two notes, hard-to-define background information that at a closer look is found everywhere - within the music of coltrane and stravinsky, death metal and 9th century byzantine chants. if there is anything like a total, secret common ground, than its this information lurking in the background. these are the voices of the dead, the heritage of an endless line of ancestors brought forward through the centuries. i tried to make these elements audible as clearly as possible. really like this weird space ambient one. ive put katorga and izo already into my final scratch computer and have been playing them! it hasnt been long time ago since the last coup made by clark and schatz hit the streets but highgrades head-honcho tom clark and the true berlin talent markus schatz allready go for the next round. the original version of >hot choc< makes the start - playfully swinging, the track developes itself into a masterpiece of an easy going groove without being half bad. the french dj and producer tom pooks - well known for this productions on ovum, kompakt and other wellsounding imprints gives >hot choc< a whole lot of jacking energy to take along. he sets the percussive elements free - and rightly so! punch meets hypnotic deepness - perfect! with the hot choc re-edit on the flipside by markus schatz he eventually letting the cat out of the bag. without any detours and in best daniel bell-like mannour he jump into a real inferno made of funky bleeps and weird sounds. delivering with this one more than just another highlight on this release - because last but least it’s the best evidence, you gotta reckon with these two!

konk is the eagerly awaited new album from the kooks. it is their second album, and the follow up to their hugely successful 2006 debut inside in/inside out which sold some two million copies worldwide and spawned the massive singles she moves in her own way, you dont love me, sofa song, eddies gun, ooh la and na ve. konk was recorded over a six week period at the tail end of 2007 in ray davieskonk studios in north london, plus a week at los angelessound factory. the sessions once again united the group with esteemed producer tony hoffer (beck / air/the fratellis). konk features 12 tracks. theres gap which is classic kooks, and shine on which finds luke exploring hitherto unchartered lyrical territory over the loveliest of melodies. its destined to become another lynchpin in the kooks live set. first single always where i need to be is a tumbling rocker with a do do do, do do do do refrain that might just be the catchiest thing they ve ever done. sway and mr maker are other album highlights.
