after a lengthy break from the electronic music world, genotype is back with an lp for exit records and provides a lesson in stripped back dub influenced music at approximately 170 bpm. having started his music career in the mid nineties under the legendary alias just jungle, with releases on the massively influential labels of that era such as trouble on vinyl, renegade hardware and reinforced records, its no surprise that he has managed to capture the essence of rawness in his recent music akin to the early years of jungle. many producers have tried and failed to bring back the old skool sound with an original flavor but genotype has managed this by resisting the temptation to lash in the tired old classic breaks and instead has drawn for the more organic sounding percussion and drum kits. the dubbed out theme runs throughout the album paying homage to his love for west indian music which he has been involved in for many years and naturally influences the music he creates. genotype is a man of few words and prefers to let his music do the talking so check out the album and draw your own conclusions.

after two amazing releases from jamie james and robert james, fellow label owner lee foss serves up the third hot platter. lee is one half of hot natured along with jamie jones and has previous releases on wolf + lamb and culprit. this latest release under his moniker is pure psychedelic summer disco fun! ‘u got me’ is a great four track e.p. featuring quintessential tracks tried and tested and firm favorites at the recent hot natured parties at demf, sonar and ibiza.

midnight marauder, is rolling techno fuzzing with a teetering bass line, reggae sirens and jamaican patois adlibs. typical of the two involved, its decidedly grey area - impossible to categorise if you tried. one thing about this track is certain though – its primed for peak time on the dancefloor, with swung drum rhythms and a snaking acid line that wont quit.

hobo is a fellow canadian best known for his excellent work on m¦nus. rumor has it, he borrowed richies quad-macro template file to finish the final version of this remix... whatever he did, his second effort came up huge, this mix is excellent.

white label 12 inch on the hipster club tip. called a career making record by switch ? >somebody get pregnant< is a nasty, throbbing cut aimed straight for the club. it s a tune that s been floating around since 2008, and has everyone from mad decent (who tried to sign it) to three six mafia (who tried to buy the hook) clamouring for a piece. major lazer also featured the tune on their new essential mix for bbc radio 1. acapella and instrumental included as well. on the b-side, ninjasonik gives up a couple of cuts that won t be seeing proper release due to some sampling issues : >shoot the lazer<, a raunchy club tune that jacks the opening to a certain animated movie classic, and >daylight<, a bootie remix of the matt and kim song by the same name. rounding out the 12 inch is >stir<, a minimal dancefloor tune with stuttering, drunken style vocal takes. sweet!

top ten of techno dj legend dave clarke and ben sims !! michael walgram, born and still living in steyr, started his dj career at the age of nineteen. that time he was deejaying at small private parties, heating up the vibes with commercial beats. the artist mike turrento was born. however, he soon started to alter his style and went from commercial music to fine, chilly, yet pumping and pounding tribal techno. he is especially known for enriching his sounds with numerous sound effects using different equipment. the hype of minimal techno did not alter his individual style, yet he tried to combine minimal and classic techno with breakbeats. through adding skillbreaks, speedbreaks, scratches and spins he managed to find the perfect mixture and created outstanding classic breakbeat techno sets.

mystique can be important in music and last year fake blood took this to another level setting blogs alight as folk tried to work out who the mystery man behind club bomb mars was.

moleculez returns to meta4 ready to clear dancefloors with some of his most destructive material to date. you know you are dealing with some serious dance music when none of the tracks on a release have vocal samples. the opening track, future in progress, is blessed with a wonderfully deep kickdrum that would probably even sound good at plus20, although we havent tried that yet. out of a nowhere the track suddenly seems to have stopped when an eerie melody creeps out of the dark. this sets the tone for the rest of the release: dark, driving and threatening. gargoyle is the most driving. lava bomb the eeriest: and future in progress the most threatening. thats what we think, anyway. you decide. the last two tracks on this release are probotector and the haunted. the first is actual textbook honest to goodness industrial hardcore while the latter isnt really anything we can talk about here. highly recommended because we want to sell records

first single from the forthcoming izmo album æearly night. izmo is a young frenchman born in 1984 in paris. he was discovered by harley&muscle a few years back when he tried to get in touch with them.. he started making music at the age of 15 years old , strongly influenced by the ambient and electronica music coming from uk and germany. as years passed by, his frequent holidays in englands midlands led him to discover various club scenes with the 4 to the floor spirit.. from hard stuff to funky and mellow music , izmo was soon found searching for a sound that was calling him... years passed by and izmo is now deep into house music where he finally found his roots in the 90s house music vibe from new jersey , chicago , detroit , england and france. may it be true garage or deep house, the groove, spirit and energy of this period has touched him deep inside and he is now a fierce defender of what he calls true school house music as opposed to old school or new school: i hate when people say that this sounds old school and that style sounds old or whatever...for me, a vibe is timeless ... izmo is also a deep techno head and all sorts of raw dance music.. watch out for his deep jacker and brawther aliases in the future... in summer 2007, izmo releases his first e.p. as a 12 inch on french label 9ts records, and gets a very good response, support and plays by legendary tony humphries... disguised as a tribute to smack productions , his where is eddie e.p. touched people from all different scenes, from deep house to uk garageà in 2008 , he will release his first full length album on little angel records, 14 tracks of strictly deep house music of different moods and atmospheres. izmo is thirsty and he will keep on trying to better his music for the pleasure of the real house heads. keep it underground ! support from laurent garnier, gorge, scope, osunlade, rocco, jay tripwire, dj rork, marlon d, dj dealer & more

the debut record of ritmolider kaleidoscope is a traditional studio work with live performance and classic analog sound. being in the era of nu disco and re edits the author has tried to find his own way of making music based on traditional methods of performance. and hes got a beautiful symbiosis of instrumental improvisations and electronic melodiousness. at the begining of the record theres a superb remix by the beat broker - deep, groovy synth disco, highly recomended for dancefloor! the second track is a journey into obscure psychedelic funk with lots of improvisations and atmospheric tunes....a pity so sweet percussions are added so late. b2 tonight at the discotheque will carry you away by the real soviet disco vibe. a beautiful arp solo softly flowing through amazing effects and acoustic drums focused on free played funky basslines. the original version of kaleidoscope is also a very interesting one. a mood of this composition is changed all the time. the first seconds of the track you hear a tender melodic solo which makes you feel calm and relaxed, then you get the groove coming from an agressive arpeggio and dinamic percussion. soon this feeling gets interrupted with a sudden slap bass impromtu playing together with a synthy accompaniment, and it turns into another feeling, and so on... this really reminds of kaleidoscope effect!

lets remixer speak! >it was great to be asked to do this. originally, i wanted to do something really quirky and funky with the strange vocal in human bond, one of my favorite old tracks. i tried a few times but i couldnt really get a vibe going in the funk realm. so i listened to the original over and over again and then the lightbulb turned on. i realized that the original was a monster rave track, like what you would hear in a warehouse in detroit in the 90s. so i threw out my original idea and went crazy with a huge techno builder, something to hype a big rave just like the original. maybe this doesnt sound exactly like what i usually do but that was the fun of making it< claude vonstroke. aa: >bounce your body to the box was one of the first kms records that i owned and it was all about the mike >hitman< wilson mix and force field on the b side. the production on the original was huge. the 909 groove just pounded everything... when that came out there was nothing that came close to it. so it was an honor and a challenge to mix it myself. first came the futurist bounce mix... not released on vinyl, anmerkung, ... which is more of a cover version than a remix. i had a lot of fun with this one but it definitely has a signature that steps away from the original. so i had to take a run at it one more time to pay a proper homage to the original with the flashback mix< mike shannon...

ah, its time for some eerie minimal techno again. dry, percussive, hypnotic, trippy. when sunday turns into monday and the week starts exactly like the last one ended – on the dancefloor, propelled by a thumping bassdrum. dima is a bar 25 regular and has released on beatsreet (another berlin institution of endless afterhour journeys) before. this one is his bar 25 debut, tried and tested on various occasions and legendary sasomo moments. his four tracks dive deep into a nocturnal techno habitat, where percussion- sounds fade away in the twilight and the groove just won’t stop. there is no way out, just give in to its pleasures

british staples charles webster and swag contribute two dancefloor driven remixes of songs from the beautifully rich and downbeat debut album from australian producer peret mako. with his interpretation of >export< charles webster expertly weaves the vocals of tania bowra into a sensual nugget of 4am bliss, tried and tested on the future classic dancefloor by charles himself on his recent visit to australian shores. the flip shows swag in a bumpin and grindin state of mind with a jackin hip house groove, chunky drums and the deft musicality synonymous with their productions. ‘the devils in the detail album has won praise from media & djs alike with accolades coming in from allies such as henrik schwarz, slope, quarion, dirk rumpff … the usual suspects… for its deep musicality, layering and attention to detail. future classic are embracing the pro vinyl ideology of keeping the mp3 files offline until the vinyl sees light of day, so watch this space for dj feedback.

!!!!!!strictly limited to 500 copies!!!!!! together with stefan goldmanns debut cd the transitory state, macro releases a strictly limited box set containing five 7? records holding the electroacoustic album voices of the dead. with his releases for innervisions, perlon and macro stefan goldmann has been a key figure at the cutting edge of post minimal techno and the renewal of house music. this album is a distinctively different affair though, reaching far beyond the scope of dancefloor electronics. starting a trilogy of concept albums, stefan goldmann searches for the common root of all music in an electroacoustic setting. from this album turret is already renowned as the intro sequence of richie hawtins groundbreaking de9 transitions mix compilation and was also commissioned by the biblioteque nationale de france for the imeb phonoteque public collection. the artist explains: at first sight we recognise upfront elements like a melody or rhythmic pattern, which we associate with a certain piece or style of music, but there is tension between two notes, hard-to-define background information that at a closer look is found everywhere - within the music of coltrane and stravinsky, death metal and 9th century byzantine chants. if there is anything like a total, secret common ground, than its this information lurking in the background. these are the voices of the dead, the heritage of an endless line of ancestors brought forward through the centuries. i tried to make these elements audible as clearly as possible. really like this weird space ambient one. ive put katorga and izo already into my final scratch computer and have been playing them! a little less than two and a half years after its conception—and close to 30 singles, one compilation, one mix cd and one sublabel later—berlins mobilee releases its first artist album. naturally, who better to represent the milestone than pan-pot, who so far have delivered five essential singles to mobilee, helping to anchor the ever-shifting sound of one of europes most exciting labels. in just two short years, with 10 singles (for mobilee and einmaleins musik) and lots of remixes, theyve become known far and wide for their distinctive, groovy, and above all ominous sound. pan-o-rama finds the boys stretching that sound in every possible direction: twisting, tearing, and using the shreds to drag a wide swath of techno history into the future (and, just maybe, to drag a few pieces of techno future back into the past). call it minimal if you must, but this aint no clickity-clack shit. you can hear the agonized gurgle of isolationist acid, reminiscent of plastikmans darkest nights. you can hear the percolating urgency of classic bleep techno. tried and true hardware collides with restless digital experimentation as dance musics dna worms its way into twisted new shapes. pan-o-rama is dark, thats for damned sure. eerie vocals that seem to come from within the listeners own head creep across the stereo field. throughout, restrained minor-key melodies conjure 21st century noir, and a relentless low-end rumble seems to suck up all the light around it

promise land is a solid deep soulful groove created by koyla. the demo floated around the bombay itunes player for a few of weeks, we needed someone to tear this track up. we tried a couple of options it wasnt working this groove needed something killer. thats were good friend jrod indigo come into play, san fran neo soul singer decides to come into lovely vancouver to hang for a while at bombay studio hq, and thats were the story starts for this track. jrod writes and lays down his song and creates the promise land over koylas ripping hooks and players. everyone is diggin the direction, timmy comes in and throws in some backups, inhouse producers sean dimitrie and nav take all the parts and put together a b side. the awaaz mix takes the track into a late night bumping funky direction with ambient tripped out textures and hard detroit style chords. overall this is a classic style ep with a real organic disco avour, that will never die for us. koyla and jrod are true musicians and deserve the fullest respect in this genre.

the a-side, >slap back< is a peak time, funk packed rave destroyer with all the right moves. shuffled grooves, doubled kick drums, slick edits and a monster hook equals a prime time bomb. tried tested and true, this cut is sure to raise the roof. >fridge funk< takes things slightly deeper on the b-side but follows suit to >slap back<. in its ability to peak and burn a dancefloor. layers of swinging percussion build up to a deep melody that breathes and filters up to the essence of funk, purely expressed in the monster bassline. to cut it short, this selection is simply massive and is sure to be part of your soundtrack to many a summer night sessions . dj support by tom clark, jeff milligan, laurent garnier
