massimiliano is back where he belongs. a backbone of live at robert johnson records, pagliaras take on neo-dance, post-disco and proto-house is as unmistakable as it is dreamlike. with this sound palette, a love for hardware and surgical arrangements > magic serials< sees the berlin-based producers on top of his game. while name checking the tools of his work (the serials, got it?), mp unfolds untold stories of love, high spirits and deep meditation that every romantic rave craves for acid poetry included.
in 2007 nick curly and marc scholl started cecille records, 2008 the sublabel numbers and now 5 years later comes cic (sik). cic records will be melodic and song like. the first release guilty pleasures ep comes from the portugal based artists johnwaynes which already released on cecille in 2011. the ep starts with >wild west<, sik vocals accompanied with a dark groove and a touch of special. second track >show me that you mean it< together with the voice from stee downes shows the melodic side of cic and tells a story about meaning and truth. third track >wet< starts with a naked direct groove and the offensive vocals from sonja james.
back and forth starts the autumn with another amazing vinyl, the sixth of its collection. label heads cosmic cowboys this time invite on this baf006 the well know duo johnwaynes from portugal alongside gene, one of israels most talented artists teamed up with a couple of incredible remixers such as tigerskin and molly! baf is back and ready to rumble!
kyodai have had a strong run of releases since their debut here on freerange last year. their mi rumba ep must have impressed a lot of people as they went on to release a follow up ep for mad mats blossoming local talk label and also have an ep due on pokerflat in the coming weeks. kerri chandler dug it enough to include on his ra podcast and it was also picked up for the cielo compilation on nervous. la luz kicks off this release with a brazilian rhythm known as candomblé laying the foundation of the groove.
making a stand-out debut on the visionquest imprint, one of north americas most dexterous and versatile producers brett johnson steps up with move power - a dense and heady double hitter of quirky chemical romance and rolling sharp edged house with an evocative lick of vocals courtesy of ellipsis.
the excellent black key records returns with its first multi artist release, the eponymously titled black key ep featuring blm, flori & james johnston.
brighton based black key records has built a strong following for its individual take on deep, underground house music. releases from jonny cade, andy ash & chamboche, backed with remixes from ethyl, ugly drums and blm have given black key an instant kudos. now the black key team look to the release of their first multi artist ep featuring three superb cuts, from three outstanding producers.
the music of portable is truly unique. habitually perlons in-house singer and also the man that is bodycode, alan abrahams is capable of evoking the spirits of traditional deep house songs - yes, you read right: songs - without getting lost in nostalgia, manufacturing boring carbon copies or a longing for a past that never was. his first visit to ramonas little outlet is all that: haunting, melancholic yet optimistic, as deep as it is driving and most of all mesmerising. >a process< features all his great sound signature moves, comes with an acappella for brave djs and a serious flutramental on top of it all for the faint at heart. creation might be a painful process, but surely a rewarding one for portable. ramona is in love.

super split ep with full of excellent piano house , deep house cuts in 90s analog vain... 1st side made by alex agore (reminds me to the glorious ur - happy trax series.... boooom), flip by james jonston
for the next outnl we prepared a package with 2 of our favorite artists of the moment. on the a side we have a track by glaswegian james johnston who has had an immense year with releases on labels such as fine art, under the shade and boogie originals. we are very pleased that james decided to release his deep burning that was now on outernational. on the b side we find ben la desh. who returns to outernerational with the breezy but ferm drug carrier. while his previous release doctor bills is still making its round through the clubs and podcasts. we are sure drug carrier will even turn more heads.
the unrelenting hot creations imprint has snapped up sensational talent waff and his impressive debut >jo johnson ep<. bursting with solid house groove, this three-track treasure paves the way for what is set to be a huge year for this rising star
roman flügel third take. hot on the heels of >brian le bon< and the >desperate housemen ep<, the man like roman iv, soylent green and alter egos spectacled half supplies four tracks of heavenly proportions. ramona doesnt even know where to start with her eulogy, but at the start.
EL CAMINO / TEFLON JACKET / VIEW / COARSE MATERIALS
12 Inch 21.05.12
having established their respected london club night and weekly podcast, bleep43 launch their label with an outstanding four-track ep. gerard hanson aka convextion / e.r.p., a regular guest at bleep43 since 2006, delivers el camino, an unmissable slice of emotive, absorbing electro-techno that shows just why hes so revered by the connoisseurs. this is followed by the immense, symphonic electro of plant43s teflon jacket, a worthy addition to his acclaimed back catalogue on ai records and semantica. on the b-side, orphans debut view from delfgauw is a stunning piece of deep 110 bpm techno and the sparse, well-crafted coarse materials by fellow newcomer jo johnson finishes a great first release.
the citizens bands second instalment for ramonas favourite label hollows their long lasting love affair. christian beisswengers (cb funk, one half of arto mwambe) is nothing less than dealing with the demise of an empire. >broken rome< is a codeine trip through early nu groove rave tracks as well as an ode to junior vasquez at the helm of the sound factory seen and heard through frosted glass. >densed< on the other hand tips its toes into the current deep house stream with an arto-mwambe-like hook and a thumping bass line. the spaces in-between those rudiments are taken up by the idm finger exercise and jewel that is >into<: ottoman dancing!
our favorite portuguese artist >johnwaynes< is back with two summer feeling songs. a side,>papiro< is afro brazillian unique house track and b side,>like the sunshine< is electro boogie track with male vocal(like prince). please also dont miss their excellent release on lets get lost(vol.7&8).
ramona still gets plenty of mileage from massimiliano pagliaras wonderful and critically-acclaimed album focus for infinity. thus you will find the second 12 inch of top-quality remix action right here: from acid romantics to reggae house. this time removed from all links to producers from frankfurt, but injected with international rollercoaster sounds.
this selection is about the tracks that would inform henry street, the tracks found deep within the complex strings of its dna, the tracks championed by pettibone on kiss or by washington at the studio, or those dredged from crates across the city. half-heard anthems from italy tracked down through forensic research in the record shops of the five boroughs, rare dub versions of classics that you wont be finding on ebay anytime soon. this is real disco.
>these are the secret weapon tracks, but more personal to me and people from my world. i m pulling records from different places. this is how i play records. its not fake. i have never been a set dj and always played just about every genre of music, from the fastest uptempo disco anthem, to the most ghetto rap jam to zeppelin. music is music. a good dj can play it all. a great dj can play it all technically correct!<
timo maass double a-sided single >kick1 kick3 / johnny cash< comes with mixes from maetrik aka maceo plex, for his pristine vision of house music from beyond, and southampton based techno craftsman and drumcode regular, alan fitzpatrick.
ramona welcomes hungarian homeboy san laurentino (electric minds, mathematics recordings) for his first outing on live at robert johnson. a self-taught producer and isolated from the hubs of electronic body music in europe and overseas, laurentinos music bears all the qualities that such a recluse has to offer: deviating, different, definite and demonstrative music. four cuts of neo-star trance, ambient wave, erotic illusions and borderline rain-forest house. ramona fell in love with them. forbidden fruits taste best.
the seasoned portuguese production duo that go by the name of johnwaynes are back for their third outing on lets get lost. a gospel disco banger on one side and blissed out whispering house on the other, essential!
when no one is watching ramona, is usually listening to future times records and beautiful swimmers all days. maxmillion dunbar is not only half of those aquanauts, but also running the label and releasing music as max(million) d(unbar). what a guy! hanging out in the vague territory between slow-motion house with a hip hop feeling or dubby and dubious fun music, his melodious approach is extremely hard to categorize but all the more enjoyable. >polo< already saw the light of day on >max trax for world peace<, but ramonas favorite dj ata and live at robert johnson manager oliver hafenbauer were so much in love with the bleepy bonbon that they offered it a place by their fireside. now cautiously modified, fine-tuned and extended for its label home, its a rainforest serenade for beatnik boys and girls, with all the ingredients you want from tha d. the only kid able to thrown down the gauntlet in front of maxi is frankfurts melody man phillip lauer (arto mwambe, brontosaurus, etcetera etcetera). turning >polo< into one of his trademark sluggish bass line barrage tracks with falsetto synths and sharp snares. get your vogue brogue out.
following a pair of fine releases on fine art and under the shade, james johnston delivers another superb ep for no matter what. >after everything< is a masterfully created slice of rolling deep house flirting with disco styles, punctuated with snippets of disco guitar licks and dubbed out vocal samples, all held together with a sumptuous chord sequence. the comparatively upbeat tempo rhythm and deep subs of >lost the house keys< which follows comes as something of a surprise, and the chopped up piano which causes the track to erupt into a flurry of jacking rhythms only add to the proto-chi house mood. the rest of the tracks continue with the same kind of upbeat pace, with >get back to the feeling< interlacing a variety of female vocal samples within its 909 rhythms, and >xtc< injecting some serotonin into the ep with its razor sharp synth stabs and snares, whose rhythms recall the deadly precision of marc kinchens early productions...
robb johnson is now widely recognised as one of the finest songwriters working in the uk... an english original, says the guardian s robin denselow, the real deal when it comes to songwriting, says bbc radio 2 s mike harding.
ramona is pretty nervous to welcome a new name to her ever-growing happy family. in fact, its actually an old band member. christian beisswenger alias cb funk alias one half of arto mwambe is not exactly one you would call a stranger. for >77 reasons< he debuts as the citizens band with some novel sounds on risky grounds. in love with details, fragile sounds, little tricks and with a fine ear for the action, the band leader tiptoes into deep bleepy house just enough to call >west 42nd< exactly that. >77 reasons< however plays around with a memorable little melody, a skanking lead and some boom sonics. whatever you want to call it, ramona is fine with it. orson and kane would be proud.
for his inaugural outing on under the shade, james johnston delivers a deep and heavy house workout with three original belters that all seem to evolve and grow from a slow sauntering groovers into mammoth club rumblers. slow in tempo but huge in delivery all teeter around the lower pace of the house spectrum but as james layers them up all become so crammed with content they bust out at the seems and drive home in splendid fashion. also included is a killer andy ash remix of >there is always time to change< that boosts the tempo and utilizes the underlying disco sample to devastating effect.
james johnston is on a roll! after his very well received release on 4lux he now dives in even deeper territory with these four excellent us-inspired deephouse cuts. we have the dark sexy groover >a new day begins<, the sunny rhodes-driven >drive around the city<, the smoked-out >haze< and the hypnotizing late-night workout >why do they wanna go<. a masterclass in deep yet up lifting housemusic.
big late summer special release from cecille, already supported by ricardo villalobos, reboot, tiefschwarz, dubfire, monika kruse, butch, joris voorn, nick curly, karotte, pete tong, johnny d., simon baker, tim green, audiofly, sascha dive, federico molinari, robert dietz ...
nice price deal !!! the third release on boogie originals is another genre-crossing musical excursion from deep space orchestra and james johnston... with a remix from voyeur rhythms ben sun. title track chrome hands clockwork space android sound rolls out perfectly along the deeper plane of the label, whilst ben suns remix lifts us up with added layers of percussion and super emotive synth work. on the flip james johnston treats us to two entirely different slabs of the sounds that inspire him. faces and traces works the slower groove for the earlier dance-floor, and sunshine stars bringing out the purely epic. all the tracks are made for the dance-floor, mastered separately for vinyl and digital release, and will be in all the usual music outlets soon.
talented portugese duo johnwaynes have had a fruitful career so far with releases on labels like brique rouge and compost. now they appear on serenades, with this trippy and inspired vocal house track >never enough<. featuring the soulful vocal talents of stee downes, the irish amsterdam-based singer whose smooth tones can also be found on sonar kollektiv, the team have cooked up a real hit in the making with >never enough<. combining deep, sexy house vibes with an insistent, catchy vocal and expertly produced elements the track comes in two distinct versions. the original keeps things low down and dirty, wrapping up the story in a cool 8 minute version. melodious pianos and deep square bass come together in a glorious moment of underground pop house. the raw mix however pushes the story further with a more ravey vibe and extended tripped-out moments, yet keeps it deep and soulful with warm rhodes keys and plenty of atmosphere!
southside johnny & the asbury jukes are a jersey shore musical group led by southside johnny. they have been recording albums since 1976 and are closely associated with bruce springsteen & the e street band.
the new age sound of frankfurt! hot on the heels of massimiliano pagliaras praised album debut focus for infinity youll find a neat 12inch of top-quality remix action. first up, frankfurts version of a young peter daou aka phillip lauer (arto mwambe, brontosaurus) and running backs gerd janson (who spend a big deal of his youth trying to perfect a weak bobby konders mimicry) team up as tuff city kids. offering two takes, pagliaras >a wrong chance< gets split into a sweet layer cake of bass, synths, strings and for those who are faint at heart, an additional riddim version provides hidden acid fantasies. upside down, oliver hafenbauer and christian beisswenger (arto mwambe fame again) keep on exploring their sharp electro funk under their b.h.v.f moniker. with a playtime that exceeds nine minutes, you get right twists and wicked turns and most of all sounds unheard. modern music with an old-fashioned style of lovin.
with influences ranging from early house and disco to turntablism and techno, dallas, txs brett johnson successfully straddles the line between knowledgable >thinking mans< dj and genuine, primal floor-filler. bretts sound is best known as groovy, bumping house with a hearty dose of techno elements, crafted and mixed in a way that is truly identifiable as his own. over the past ten years brett has released serious, futuristic sounding house music on numerous labels including classic, freerange, lazy days, and bretts own aesoteric and bang the box imprints. denvers full flavor music is honored to have brett on board for its latest release, the someday ep.
>hollywood seven< has been a dance floor weapon of mike simonettis dj sets for almost six years. its one of those tracks people come up to the booth & ask about the most. >whats that song about omaha and the hotel?< we are happy to finally answer that question with this essential release. rescued from the depths of dollar bin obscurity. the a-side here was the closing track on mike & johnnys december 2007 cult mix >albuterol<. titled >disconet dilemma< alluding to mike scoring the disconet promo 12 inch while digging in jersey on one sunny afternoon.
the eighth release of >lets get lost< which is started by mule musiq and force of natures kza. this release is our favorite portuguese artist johnwaynes again. a side is dj friendly edit of famous cosmic classic >pili pili<. b1 is beatdown house remix of garage classic >funky sensation<. if you like the production of mcde or dj nature, you will love this song. b2 >slyadub< is modern reggae house
do easy strikes back with a fresh 4-tracker vinyl >chicago ep< by austrian newcomer rik moser with early support by matthias tanzmann, raresh, osunlande, boris werner, lauhaus, anthony collins, matthias meyer, florian meindl, ray okpara, marco faraone,
the a-sided maintime tune >chicago< includes a remix by detroit based producer eric johnston, well known from labels such as wolf+lamb & cityfox and >anvil< on the b-side comes with a dub remix by do easy artist christopher groove who just appeared on matthias meyers big supported ep released on cecille.
bang the boxs second vinyl outing is a loved up three tracker from label resident and co-manager brett johnson... lovin u- the birds chirping in the intro let it be known that this is one for the summer time. vocal harmonies laid over true house beats and a full-on bassline seal the deal for this one to be a future classic... sweet love- continuing the theme, sweet love rolls down memory lane with a catchy vocal, and bretts signature robo-funk rhythms. the rolling bass line and spaced out chords bring it all together to seal the deal as a dance floor killer... love by my side- this track is last but definitely not the least. its one for all our slow house peeps put there willing to let the slow-burn take the dance floor in its clutches. the recycling main line is so infectious that you wont want the track to ever end
