autonation s sit on the bass was released on esteemed label r&s , 18 years ago in 1991.. (shit! was it really 18 years ago??)
autonation kindly agreed to a re-release two years ago after a meeting in a pub in ladbroke grove. sit on the bass has been a mainstay of label boss jerome hill s sets since it s release all those years ago and still sounds relevent and rocks crowds today.
autonation is none other than seasoned producer dave campbell who over the years has released a vast body of techno, drum n bass, and ambient music under the aliases kibu, hiryze, xtro, greenback and of course autonation on labels such as rising high, certificate 18, r&s, cue and guy called gerald s juicebox.
its an absolute techno classic, but not one of the obvious ones that get rolled out for every old skool back to the 90 s set.. so get on board and be in the know before everyone gets on it!!
jerome hill steps up for the remix on the b-side utilising some fierce rumbling sub bass and keeping the energy levels on 11 for the dancefloor..
this release has been cut super loud and is the first 2-tracker on don t for just this reason.

mindless boogie brings another cheeky edits bundle which sidesteps the obvious. this time with rove dogs (la plage, silicon square garden rec.) behind the knobs. another gemm for the boogie repertoire!

as costello continues to look long, the grooves continue to flow. lng3 sees the reissue of the deep house classic pleite which originally appeared on trapez in 2003. recorded in dublin in 2002, this version has been mastered at dubplates and mastering, berlin in 2009. the results are stunning and serve as a welcome reminder of costelloÆs deep roots. pleite (costello dub) in particular could teach some of todayÆs hyperactive producers a thing or two about setting up a solid groove and letting it sit. the timing of this reissue could not be more perfect with regard to the current musical zeitgeist. the title, a german colloquialism for broke or indeed bankrupt which was an in-joke at the time of the original release, takes on a new significance in the context of global economic recession.

the third single cut from the debut album of dj sprinkles aka terre thaemlitz. a1 is a one of most emotional song from the album. its a very fag jazz style of terre. a2 is a very warm ambient house with classical piano loop. the ambient version of this song will be released on mule electronic ambient compilation >enjoy the silence< (mule electronic cd15) in april. b side are 2 version of motor city drum ensemble remix. it fits perfectly with original dj sprinkles sound. what is house music? this is house music!

slipping sliding bleeping chirping…the donk boys are well know for their innovative, freaky beats. the swedish duo have appeared on a multitude of great labels like frankie, floppy funk, trapez and kreatur. it was only a matter of time before they ran into the crew at dirtybird in san francisco. these three prime cuts are a little jazzy, a little odd, a little caveman, and a lot of fun. they fit in with jackin house and minimal techno just the same and will all be ass-wiggling party starters for sure.

baroques new techno label with mixmag future hero jon rundell, dont lose your head is a slammin slice of filthy bassline driven techno, clanky percussion and bolshy rhythms work up a frenzy. for the remix ali wilson pulls it out of the bag with a wicked cross between techno and prog. simply massive on the floor. the retro riffed depature finishes the package with a bang, and sets the standard high for this new imprint. i think jon is a jewel in the crown (carl cox)

one of technos most diverse and prolific producers ‘mark broomis back again to demonstrate the definition of dub techno. this is a purist record through and through that unashamedly harks back to the classic chain reaction and basic channel sound, something that the world and its djs crave endlessly, and rightly so. all four cuts sail forth in calm warmth and steady bass, massive reverbs and echo are worked intermittently lifting everything upwards like a strong cosy breeze. the listener is forcibly bounced up and down in a gentle fashion, (we would expect nothing less than gentlemanly behaviour from broomer) and through proper application of decibels a full cellular body massage can result. this is essential dub for the techno journeyman out there. not only great to listen to, but also a helping hand with your exfoliation routine.
