hardmoon london continues its new found adventure by releasing another piece of the impure sound it thrives on. this time bringing in chicago legend: gene hunt. hunt takes a look back into the history books of chicago with some no-nonsense gritty acid tracks that have been designed to shatter teeth and jaws alike.

h45 sees manchester s tomson (freerange) & eddie leader (hudd traxx) colloborate with chicago legend chez damier. this project has been in a long time in the making and came about when chez met eddie at his house & techno night content manchester. chez was at the start of his comeback and they were introduced by mutual friend joshua, a former prescription and hudd traxx artist. the meeting resulted in chez becoming good friendswith tomson & leader and laying down some vocals in the studio for the manchester pair. h45 is a new catalogue number for the hudd traxx family

gene hunt is a prolific producer with an un-mistakable sound of his own. and although an originator of the acid house sound from chicago, he certainly didnt stop there. his music has naturally evolved over the years, often incorporating more mature melody and rhythm structures, but always in time with a proper underground style dance track. these tracks are a perfect fit for the direction and vision of the inner shift music label as well, and for this reason we are pleased to present you with planted seeds by gene hunt.

once again, the sunkissed camp get it spot on with this loud-pressed 12 inch collection of balearic classics from brazilian songstress astrud gilberto. opens with the original version of mesmerising dancer *black magic*, a great dj weapon that got the tangoterje edit seal of approval a few years back. followed by balearic favourite *beginnings*, a jazzy take on chicago s classic hit which spins out into eight minutes of sensual bliss. turn over for big daniel wang play, the obscure lp track *all i ve got*, a glorious low-slung floor-filling gem produced by none other than salsoul orchestra founder vince montana who also supplies the sublime disco version of the song that made astrud a household name *the girl from ipanema*. lastly comes her cool and breezy version of the bossanova jazz standard *agua de beber*. beautiful stuff.

ron maney also known as dj skull lived in the southside of chicago (il, usa). his musical career started during the summer of 1986, while recovering from a broken bone. during the following years he homed his craft, djing first at basement parties, building his reputation to go on to larger events such as, loft and hotel parties, and eventually the infamous music box and power plant clubs. at the age of fifteen ron shopped his first demo at trax records. there he first met chicago s legendary dj ron hardy, working as a&r for trax records. two years, and a new alias later (dj skull) later while at the power plant, chicago s own steve poindexter heard a dj playing one of rons tracks, and met ron. steve was now a&r at saber records and invited ron to release some tracks. so in october of 1991 dj skull s first record -n.r.g. music- was released. in 1993, he released the ep -the stomping grounds- on djax-up-beats, which was more noted than the first one. over the years that followed dj skull released lots of ep s on several labels. he has become well-respected producer and dj in the techno industry

nick lapien has been sharpening his music sound a number of monikers, metropolis, nepal and his own name. on labels like other heights and sequencias the dutch man has moulded smoke stained chicago, textured techno and drifting ambient

the last few years have seen chicago footwork rise to international success, and traxmans debut album - *the mind of traxman* on planet mu - played no small part in that. it showcased cornelius fergusons brilliant ability to synthesise the beat digging of classic hip hop with the high-speed abstraction of footworks house-derived beat science. the selection of tracks on this second chapter show a slightly different take on traxman s abilities. instead of bringing in concepts from other genres, he simply creates a wider variety of footwork, made with a minimal, reduced palette. often just one or two samples are selected and diced into brain-blurring cubist puzzles that bear little relation to their original sources, or anything else for that matter.
