the choice of anja schneider for remix duties was an obvious one, the pair first met on a shuttle bus to an event and in short stead paul was co-writing for anja, becoming part of the driving force behind her huge debut album �beyond the valley�, now she pulls out all the stops to reciprocate with this standout reworking.
first up on the package is the anja schneider remix of �three weeks�, the opening cut from paul�s recent album. here the pair, deconstruct the parts and rebuild things into a deep and hypnotic version that has instant dancefloor appeal stamped all over it. solid, chunky drums rub up against simple spacey synth lines and warm pads to huge effect. bearing in mind the superb quality of the original this is a job well done, and a real addition to this great package.
next we have the original of �three weeks�, a track named after the extensive time it took to record. paul had originally intended to record the album in 6-8 weeks, then ended up spending nearly half of his allocated time on this opener. but it has to be said it was worth the effort. this is a slice of solid tech inspired house with subtle vocal elements and a musicality that cuts through the records club based nature. excellent stuff.
finally we have diamant flute, another winner from the �me, myself and live� album. deep and highly engaging this again displays paul outstanding talents as a producer, weaving melodic elements deep into the mix and retaining an incredible underground electronic sound.

brand new intrusion! the first killer twelve of 2009 and the perfect way to soothe the post nye hangover. the title track >seduction< is an epic beauty as deep as the sea which does exactly as the title suggest, a sort of seduction of sound if you will, so immersive you could swim in it�s three dimensions. the bass line is so deep you can feel the vibrations in jamaica! the song soars along and in minutes reveals its magical analogue frequencies as shards of blissful chords sail around your speakers in a full spectrum panorama affair so easy to sink into. next up is �silence� leading us into ambient territory for a short but sweet three minute excursion which i could only imagine as a soundtrack while floating in deep space. the release comes to a close with cv313�s near 12 minute rendition, a beautiful dub house soundscape filled with tribal rhythms and gorgeous atmosphere recalling moments from echospace�s landmark album �the coldest season� on modern love. this is music which clearly focuses on every fine detail, filled with loads of space and bass and the analogue warmth we�ve come to love from the echospace signature. as with all things echospace this is severely limited and is pressed on to beautiful coloured vinyl.

just like the excellent joshua series this is jay-js take on rnb meets house edit: choppy, dubbed out intro that leads into a killer vocal duet by rising rnb act koffee brown. b-side features a rousing gospel house track with heartfelt vocals and big chorus.

bodo elsel has only done a handful of records and the two that i have known and loved since 1998 were put out on playhouse, the excellent housey sister-label of mighty klang elektronik. one track in particular, discount baby, has always stood out in my mind as a high water mark in the sacred art of groove (you may have heard of it). punchy accents and resonant bass layered with trippy vocal loops, its dubby acid house of the highest order, made by a mysterious german lego-master, who the a&r team of mike mind and thomas st shindig managed to coax back into activity.
it only took bodo a year to answer mr. minds email, but he eventually delivered three amazing tracks... >haustier< revitalizes piano house. >mai< is incredible, and >mein haus< is one of the top few all-time expressions of the greatness/meaning of germany, putting it in the fine company of the autobahn, sven väth and christmas-market schwein. nice wibes!!
the icing on the cake was that bodo made it very clear he wanted no part in royalties or any of that business crap... he just wanted 42 copies of the record. yes. 42.

the >murmur ep<, limited edition of 500 units in coloured vinyl, the sight belows followup to 2008s full-length glider, is a bracing step forward for the reclusive seattle-based artist, comprising two new songs and a notable remix. the sight below uses the murmur ep as an opportunity for expansion, turning up the contrast on his silky tones to expose an even more deeply textured sound with a powerful emotional effect. on the >murmur ep<, the textures are denser, courser�closer to kevin shields jagged oceans of guitar than gliders wisps of reverb � and the beats are meatier, funkier even. the sight below comes close to recording a real dance track with >murmur<, slipping a skipping syncopation and an honest-to-god bass line into a roiling cloud of distortion. >wishing me asleep< incorporates bits of strings into the mix for a touch of cinematic melancholy.

peter kruder returns to the gigolo mega-church to present two new tracks from his recent arsenal of techno and house dance-floor bombs. needless to say 2009 has been a good year for gigolo and hell with the high times being shared by peter kruder. beginning back in march when we released peter kruders first 12 inch in 7 years as part of the cd eleven release. followed swiftly by the release of dj hells acclaimed >teufelswerk< album, recorded and produced largely in peter kruders vienna based studio. so as we approach the end of 2009 it gives us great pleasure to announce the latest ep >hard to find<.
on the a-side you find the title track, which takes in influences from detroit techno circa the age of ur to north african hooks. the filter sweep towards the end, which serves as the drop/break, is a master-class in restrained modulation that is bound to ignite any dance floor. on the b-side we find >25 west 38th st.< a slightly more reserved affair opening with the sound of the ocean air, then swiftly diving into a bass driven groove, which features lush strings and a piano-led top line creating a track that is as atmospheric as it is rhythmic. the ep itself takes influence from the b-side on two levels, the most immediate being the title of the track, which is the address of the old nu groove records offices. this is peter kruders homage to a time when dance music served as a momentary escape, an opportunity to make those around happy. it also brings peters relationship with gigolo records full circle, having begun in 2004 with his >nu groove< remix of hells >listen to the hiss<.

this new collaboration between two of cadenzas finest talents makes its official debut on mobilee with black shoes, a cut that pops, crackles, and snaps like youd never believe. dance floor ready yet unwilling to sacrifice an explicit focus on the details, black shoes pulsates with bass while suggesting a kind of lightness as whispered and fragmented voices hiss and murmur in the background. the melodics, which give off the feel of being in constant flux, provide a nice contrast to the intensely regularized bass drum while simultaneously meshing with the popping percussion that guide the track along its course. breakdowns filled with the sounds of static and 8-bit provide a nice experimental touch to this track that works equally well as a late-night romp as it does on the headphones. b-side speech also gives off a stuttered feel but is even more blippy and fragmented than its counterpart while migrating towards a more jacking vibe. brito and toro compliment this fractured sound with extensive use of vocal samples�both spoken and sung�that, while incomprehensible, lock in seamlessly with the overall feel of the track. melody here references both vintage sounds and traditional minimalism with the end result being a fusion of the two that is truly extraordinary.

>charger< is a massive track! the track seems to suck up air to created a vacuum and also sounds a bit as if there was a problem with the ignition of the charger! once it gets going it is indeed a heavy rocking track!>firebird< is a fat sounding house track, which can be plaid by house djs as well as techno djs using a cool walking bassline and a super tight slapping snare and cool house vocals on top of it! starting housy the track develops into a hi energy, appegiator driven track showing alex unders talent for moving genres skilfully from one end to the other! this is a great track!

>gobbldigook< is the spectacular opener of sigur ros recent album >med sud i eyrum vid spilum endalaust<, undeniably one of the most hymnic songs they have written thus far. fellow islanders stephen stephenson aka presidentbongo (of gus gus fame) and jack schidt couldnt resist but to transform the complex, polyrhythmic original into an exceptionally ethereal club track. when the angelic voice of jon birgisson unfolds on a club soundsystem it reallyfeels like you are in heaven. the ultraslim percussion groove takes over the tribalistic atmosphere of the original but catapults it some hundered light years forward into the future. thomas fehlmanns remix on the flipside is nothing short but sensational. we have no clue how he managed to turn this song into a schaffel but we salute him and take this as another unmistakable sign that the schaffelfieber is rising again in cologne, berlin, reykjavik andelsewhere ...

finally a full ep by d marc cantu (1/2 of 2am/fm and under other aliases involved in collabos with traxx). technically its the follow up to his cult hit no control (creme jak 02, today a highly sought after 12inch) and in good h-h-h-house fashion this ep contains a ball busting jtc remix of this anthem. but the centre piece must be the title track one of the most emo-simplo jak trax weve ever heard here at the office. starting out simple enough with a single finger synth line (like the musings of a retarded secretary), it mutates into a big wailing distorted saxophone (or a mating whale, who knows?), this puppy will fill your room and throw everybody into an instant k-hole. hey, if that dont sound appealing check the soundclips for proof, its pure liberation... nay rebirth! more floor destroying crazyness on the flipside, but were all out of steam describing it. jak jak jak
