bloop is fast becoming a bit of a name amongst those in the know for quality output across the house spectrum so its no surprise to see net28, esperanza and lomidhigh rising star kasper on the imprint with his chicago take 12 inch. if youve checked the spaniards recent contributions to wolf & lamb or net28, you will be aware of his funk laced house wigglers which combine old and new wonderfully and >chicago take< is no different.
after almost a year hiatus the detroit grand pubahs are back with their detelefunk label. detelefunk being an abbreviation for detroit (det) electronic (ele) funk, they relaunch their imprint with a remixes series of some of their favourite producers remixing tracks from their last 3 albums. hence the title of the series being made up of words from all these album giving us the funtastic “buttfunkula and the remixes from earth”. this is the first of 2 volumes / eps that will offer new remixes, leading into a remix compilation featuring the finest remixes of the pubahs music from over the years. volume 1 sees the minimal originator himself, robert hood, take the reigns and remix the title track from the pubahs debut album >funk all y all<, while detroits underground resistance / interstellar fugitives dj 3000 takes one of paris the black fus first tracks >stalking you< (previously released on throw) and adds his albanian rhythms. finally, last but by no means least swedens samuel l session takes time out from producing for his own klap klap label to deliver this peak time dancefloor remix of the infamous >dr bootygrabber<. promising to take robert hood, dj 3000 and samuel l sessions on a galactic ass trip in their star ship was paris the black fu & the mysterious mr os way of getting them to do remixes. >now all i have to do is get them to deliver< comments paris from his secret lab >i do plan to bring them home after the remixes have been released. working with these artists has been a goal of ours for the past few years, and now that they ve been abducted may the funk be with all of us<
already supported by nick curly, dan ghenacia, markius fix, robert dietz and more!
alex is back with his london home cinematic recordings - this time with a 4 track stormer! >north london cutz ep< is a homage to his inspirational north london neighborhood - where his infamous >rhythm tech< studio is based during the last couple of years - and he got it just right! he delivers a phat 4-tracker with plenty of moods to choose from!
on the a side >bellawatt< - a big room techno with a disco feel and a rumbling bassline on point with todays sound. a2 brings us >ductile< introducing a jackin chicago vibe with a more techno attitude on the beats and a pumping tribal groove on the subs. >this goes out to ron hardy he from chicago< belches the spoken word. funked up to the max! on the flip >route 277< is a warm tech house affair with a dub mood and a strong banging hihat beat and the last joint goes deep and techy with a hypnotic vocal and a haunting oriental melody, all summed up in a percussive jungle mood. overall a very strong and dj friendly release to stay in the box and a perfect follow up to alexs latest releases on arearemote, cecille and tuning spork earlier this year!
marcus sur lives 30 minutes from cologne in essen and has recorded for several labels in the past like pottheads with whom he reached no 1 in the dcc charts with his >stop the junk< release. his latest tracks were released on highgrade and keno records. marcus sur played bass in a band but stopped in the 90ies to get involved in djing which lead to famous residencies in clubs such as >rote liebe< and >baikonur< where he was also responsible for the musical programme. with his release >down with the ship< on trapez ltd he shows his love for minimal music. his definition of minimal though has more in common with robert hood than with recent developments due to the fact that his love for rare groove and deep house music has been part of his life. his 2 track vinyl is authentic and cool and speaks the language of the coal mining district in germany, the ruhrpott. house music has always been big there and lead to the founding of one of the first house distributers in germany, ntt . marcus sur is momentarily resident at the gold club in essen where he will celebrate his release on the trapez label night (26th of september)

the first release features nobody else than the nice guy and techno-preacher eric sneo (masters of disaster / beatdisaster) from frankfurt, germany. after a lot of smashers on well known labels like kombination research, clr, patterns and abstract, eric is now back on driving forces recordings with a massive 2 tracker. on the a side you can find a mainstyle braincracking track called vintage force which will drive the crowd totally crazy. with a rolling beat, the sneo typical driving percussion and a wicked leading sound, this one will heat up every mainstage all over the globe. the b side features a track called coming home, a dark and evil bassmonster with a tiny percussive melo, strong enough to break down the walls of all the clubs out there. modern techno for the peaktime is what you get. it lets you forget the hype about the minimal kind of music. next to the austrian local heroes, a number of big names of the international techno circus were signed and thats why a good and diversified start of the label will be sure.
pole folder has emerged as an intrinsic part of the emotive dance music juggernaut that has been steadily powering through club land over the course of the last few yearsà alongside djs such as guy gerber, guy j, and james holden, pole folder has been at the forefront of a movement back towards the melody rich sounds on which house music is based. his first 2 releases on label la tour garnered huge support from the likes of sasha, laurent garnier, luciano, carl cox and christian smith. this offering starts off with pole folders original, which features the vocals of sean ryan, delivering epic slabs of sound, stacked atop glitchy lo-fi drums that result in a listening experience that simply swallows you whole. the vocal whilst gritty retains a rich and lush quality that is the perfect overlay to this track.
patrick begins with his techno bomb “tooth n nail”, a track that showcases a heavy detroit influence with smooth synth work reminiscent of productions from robert hood and carl craig. midway through the track, patrick keeps us guessing with a wobbly synth line that adds playfulness to an otherwise straightforward, moody journey. an understated use of serene female whispers throughout gives this tracks techno classicism a fresh sound. next patrick gives us “davinches”, a chugging tech-house track that pairs a deep, buoyant bass line with a tight, resonant kick, giving it a dynamic groove. patricks tight percussion work keeps things moving with its rims, clicks, and ticks set against a spooky, playful melody that energizes and propels the track to its finish. fans of guido schneider won’t want to miss this one! on the flip, nyc’s elon of clink recordings fame, and a newcomer to klectik, takes on remix duties with a minimal techno take on patrick’s “tooth n nail”. elons version is a pulsating, stripped down mind-bender marked by sub-bass and the sporadic clangs of raw machinery — sexy! this remix maintains the smooth character of patricks original in melodic sensibility, but stands on its own via sparse rhythmic patterns resulting in a deeper, moodier treatment.
played by: ricardo villalobos, sis, nick curly, anthony collins, chris tietjen, robert dietz, markus fix and many more !!! a resident of the respected mono club night, felix neumann is one of those producers that live music on a 24/7 basis and his productions just keep on coming and growing. we are very happy to have this talented 21 year old in our artist family. the title track put it back is a fresh sound affair and a guaranteed club banger, as tested by most of the mitu family djs. the pumping groove will keep the crowd on its toes and the pinching vocals will have them asking for more. rough is a track that could almost be described by its title alone. it is a steady and solid track that showcases felix s versatile approach to music. that versatility extends to the first b side track. acento is an elegant musical exercise where house, percussion and jazz harmoniously fuse into a track with a strong dance appeal. the last track on this release brings out a heavy-deep-bass vibe. chemal will make your head nod and your body get loose, without you knowing how it all happened.

as snapshots catalogue grows, so too does the quality. the modest label hits us with five new tracks by johannes volk with a heavy detroit minimal feel, instantly reminding us of vintage robert hood productions built of only the bare essential elements required to move ones body. johannes is currently pounding the floors across europe with his live sets and has released on labels such as jeff mills 6277 imprint (an axis sub label) & gerds life world records.
first extract from the forthcoming album >dreamer are you sad< to come out soon, produced by peter deimel (deus, the kills). limited edition 7 inch full of electric breaks and noisy guitars bullying the apparent wiseness and light melodies, calling on pretty convincing influences like can, robert wyatt, radiohead, or sufjan stevens...

played by karotte, giles smith (secretsundaze), laurent garnier... already up to its 17th release, yore keeps rolling on, this time with a new release by memory foundation. in 1994 robert hood found his way into a dark basement somewhere in viennas suburbia. mr. hood was impressed by what he had heard, and with him a dat-tape took a long journey back to where techno was invented once. with their first appearance on detroits m-plant label 15 years ago, the memory foundation or one of their many alter egos found its way into the hearts and the record-bags of many serious electronic music lovers. in 1997, after setting up their own record labels central and together with jeremiah grow! and other releases on m-plant, 7th city or usm followed. the memory foundation now returns with their contribution for the yore camp, with their >reptiles in exile ep< they prove that they havent lost their magic touch. the track burns with electro-funk fire, with natural kit and cymbal sounds giving the already-surging cut extra thrust and the staccato burble of metallic chords adding berlin flavour. a lithe eight-note bass motif anchors the warm techno-funk of >bass traveller< as a flaring synth motif squiggles alongside rhodes chords and a boogieing clavinet line, and its easy to become so engrossed by the tunes relaxed swing that the artistry of its arrangement can go underappreciated. textbook body music, >summer visions< is an earthier, mid-tempo funk workout thats sure to get the dance floor crowded, while the light-speed closer >reptiles< blazes a slinky house trail whose fresh swing has got yore written all over it. with any luck, we wont be waiting twelve more years for the next memory foundation release
one of rough trades island 50th anniversary selection - 50 crucial titles, specially selected by us to highlight the unique contribution this seminal label has made to british music since 1959. the results of nick drakes solo sessions were as harrowing and stark as anything by robert johnson or charley patton. enclosed in an inner world of psychological distress, drake recorded pink moons dispatches from a private hell that was simultaneously terrifying and beautiful. both the lyrics and the melodic motifs are pared to the bone here, their simplicity making them all the more immediately striking. the most nakedly emotional and disturbing moment is probably parasite, a visceral but mysterious account of a disconsolate soul roaming through the world in search of succor, with drake taking the starring role, ultimately offering, take a look, you may see me in the dirt. this was the end of the road for nick drake in more ways than one, but just the beginning for the scores of songwriters subsequently inspired by his bleak but beautiful visions.
played and featured already by many artists like takkyu ishino, chris liebing, frank müller, laurent garnier, carsten schorr, gel abril etc...
a young talented artist from the heart of berlin. hawkinson might be one of the cities most talented djs. if you missed the true spirit of detroit, here we go! pumpin techno and no doubt full on. no chici picky fashion shit. remember the kids want techno and we give them hawkinson. reife musik as robert says ...

early support by : adam beyer, d julz, kenny larkin, christian smith, anja schneider, josh wink, tiefschwarz, robert dietz, secret cinema, okain...
quartz music return with yet another roaring ep. this time from belgiums hermanez.
opening track hocus focus is a full spectrum. opening with its tribal drums, the addition of cascading techy sounds and then its techno stomp. the brutalness is appeased by the wonderful deep synths that fuse everything together.
next up is the more stripped, minimal sounds of served . a colder, more moody electronic feel to this one, it pops along, locked into a vicious groove. white noise builds create the drama throughout.
finally don t try this at home continues with the heavy tribal tide. rolling drums, a plethora of toms, and a bag full of spooky sounds and efx, make a strong set building track.
when he isnt busy touring and recording with various artists as a session drummer (most recently with one beyonce knowles) guillaume jambel aka giom djs and produces deep house music. with only a handful of releases and remixes under his belt on labels such as amenti music, black cherry, tango, eight tracks and aroma its obvious that he is eager not too to spread himself too thinly. this makes us even more privileged to get him onto ornate music. and he certainly doesnt disappoint on blue matter ep which kicks of with bring down the walls a deep house disco builder promoting us to... you guessed it bring down the walls. with a metro area style bass line, warm keys and popping percussion this is bound to make you do exactly thatàin fact it should probably come with a public health warning. i know you were right, probably not something we say very often but here giom says it like he means with a tough kick drum, sweet seductive female vocal, bubbling bassline and a whole heap of other good stuff thrown into the mixer. this phat slab of deep house will brighten up the cloudiest of days, have a listen im sure you ll agree. hailing from brighton c soul are magnus asberg (head honcho of on the house records) and jimmy day. they have appeared on labels such as diy discs, suspect package and have also collaborated with house music legend robert owens on german label plastic city. for c souls on the house remix of i know you were right they strip it right down to the bone and produce a haunting, electronic house music rework. you know we were right!

after debuting with us last year with his >finally e.p<, canadian wunderkid glenn morrison returns with remixes of one of the tracks from that release in the form of the >orange glow ep<. as far as remix packages goes we happen to think this is a very special one, as we have been able to get the talents of not one, but two heavyweight producers to put their own touches on glenns original. robert babicz and charlie may are both on remix duty here and boy have they done us and themselves proud
ed’s first offering for autoreply references the early building blocks laid down by pioneers such as carl craig or robert hood twisting & turning them with his own crisp production & drum programming with the end result being a unique contemporary take on modern dancefloor techno. both tracks effortlessly build teasing as they progress sometimes climaxing but always leaving you thirsty for more. the ballroom is a deep complex work that starts its journey showing the characteristics of a light stepping waltz - as the track progresses something more sinister starts to emerge & the mood subtlety transfers to a dark prominent space tango. this track will not only make you dance, it will also make you feel nervous & excited! the well tempered clavier – this track has it all: dancefloor bomb - dj tool – 9 ½ minutes of absolute linear pleasure making a statement from the word go with its solid kick and catchy lead synth floating in and out of the mix building to an unmissable break which is guaranteed to get cheers from the dancefloor + beyond. serious techno for serious djs. linienwerk – this is the perfect track to help build a room or wake up an afterparty, beautifully paced with an organic feel not to mention the dark synth stabs that seem to cover the entire stereo field.
cuba is a cool melodic tech groover, that demonstrates denis a s ever evolving production skills perfectly. he s definitely a talent to watch in 2009. on remix duty is germany s robert babicz, who has created an amazing deep melodic tech anthem that is set be a very big tune throughout the summer months for djs across the board.
this release is the first part of a remix series, which will bring the mellow atmosphere of alifs album to the club floors and lift it to another level. chloe impressively emphasizes her experimental potential by remixing alif trees reality in a quite dark, but still pushing way. different layers of vocals decorate the rather broken minimal house track and transfer it to a floor filling anthem. the renowned dutch producer-/dj-team tj kong & nuno dos santos already demonstrated their ability to create soulful but still deep and pushing house music. through their past releases on compost black label, such as the tranentrekker/dropout û maxi or the single merging which features vocals by house legend robert owens, the international demand for all kinds of collaboration with the talented tag team increased noticeably.
8bit welcomes another young fresh talented producer to their family: alex niggemann, already known from some great remixes and productions on supernature and ostwind delivers a deep, funky house ep including some soulful vocals, supported by karotte, david squillace, audiofly, shinedoe, tiefschwarz, 2000 and one, anthony collins, nick curly, robert dietz, gorge, thomas schuhmacher, marc romboy, dj t ...
