‘neverending story’ opens with ‘a dimension reflected’ and its introductory mixture of keys and beats. the beat is built upon piece by piece, while slippery synths fill in the upper registers. the second track, ‘planet texture’, opens with a blossoming pad which is soon joined by a steady kick and some bouncing synths. before long an adventurous bassline joins in and puts the track into full groove mode. there’s a twinkling synth floating above it all, sometimes present, sometimes not, making you wonder if you’re really hearing it at all. next up is the first track on the b-side, ‘old problems’. filled with little samples and microsounds, the track uses its beat to push through heady and sometimes disorientating array of colours that swirl across the track. a wide synth enters affairs a third of the way in and helps push the track out onto the dancefloor. ‘neverending story’ comes next, featuring a skittering beat and atmospherics that seem to come from far away. a low bassline pops in and out of the track here and there, while pondersome some keys complete the mood. the ep closes with ‘algorithm’, another scrambled, unpredictable track. the track opens with a rainbow of keys and synths, darting between your ears in their affected manner. an almost glitchy ambient track, it brings to a calm close a fantastic release.

roffa sound is kicking off in style with a heavy soundsystem stepper which is guaranteed to shake up the dance. after enjoying the hypnotising melodies heard in the intro, producer mystic pulse introduces hard hitting drums and heavy bass whilst black omolo furiously sings about the daily pressure and tribulation put on by babylon. for this very first release roffa sound has recorded a video clip as well, which we strongly recommend to check out on youtube. for those wanting less vocal but more echo should check out the version, which will be exclusively available on vinyl.

groovepressure is excited to be re-releasing two tracks from the first ever groovepressure release. resonators is groovepressure honcho robin ball and long time school friend salman montiero. made in 1999 in a very small studio in robin s house, robin remembers -getting them pressed and taking them to the shops i loved in london to see if they would sell them and getting a really good reaction from the shop staff. not that it was going to be a big commercial success or anything like that, more because the tracks had a unique sound and i think still do today. the underground scene then was a lot more freestyle but even in that atmosphere it was an unusual release. since then it s been one of the most sort after releases from the groovepressure back catalogue. it s an exciting time to be re-releasing this with the re-emergence of the label. booma and shuzzbuzz have been re-mastered and remixed by robin ball.
