f.s. blumm aka frank schültge from berlin has been making marvelous music for many years now. be it solo like on his latest album (pingipung in 2013) as part of the subtle folk-duo -bobby & blumm- or as a sound- scape researcher at the side of nils frahm. but even though f.s. blummbastic sees the light of day for the very first time in this release, the combina- tion of dub and blumm is not new: he is part of the quasi dub development (qdd). the collective around blumm and luca fadda from new york recently released the album -little-twister vs stiff-neck- with features by lee scratch perry or lady ann on pingipung in 2014. these -riddims and biscuits- came to live during the creation of material for future qdd-concerts. f.s. blummbastic played all instruments himself, rhythm guitar, organ and of course bass to send the results the the colleagues in new york. soon it was clear: these riddims have the most impact in their reduced form. theyd like to stand alone and get played back loudly. for the drums f.s. blummbastic brought helmut erler aka hey from hey-Ø-hansen into the qdd cosmos. not only did he bang the drums, but he has also mixed, mastered and cut the vinyl of this album.

tom thorpe & bonar bradberry aka pbr streetgang have propelled themselves to the forefront of uk house and disco in recent years while eschewing the parameters of either style, so it is no surprise they are turning up on bristol institution futureboogie recordings with banging dose of acid house frolics, the double boogie ep. leeds hero burnski gives a-side n-h-n his special groove over on the flip.

lakosa & io are third to grace the madtech roster with their dancefloor banger home early, which features remixes by west norwood cassette library and the 17 year old exceptionally talented experimental grime producer pedro 123. home early is a punchy house track weighted by bass and marching with the suave speed of 4/4 house. its sultry vocals and samples tease the determined beat that drops in and out developing a bold breakdown. the track sits nicely between house and uk bass, giving it the flexibility to sit within an array of styles in future sets and mixes. west norwood cassette librarys remix gives the original a disco tinge with the use of strings and vintage sounding samples. the vocal is scrunched and ricochets neatly off the carefully placed beats and samples. the pedro 123 remix gives the original a smack of grime and a refreshing sound. pedro stretches the vocal into a smooth echo that drifts over the top of his clipped punching bass line. a grime-tinged wobble and a bassy beat resonates beneath pedros impeccable percussive production.

lando is known for teaming up with low limit as lazer sword, a future hip-hop from group from the bay area. his solo tracks are freaked out juggernauts of electronic music, primarily experimenting with various mutations of house. dense instrumentation, analog synth and drum machine work, complex melodies, and creeping basslines are pooled from his musical obsessions with 90s rnb, classic house, freestyle, garage, detroit techno, early synthesizer music, timbaland, and� to be honest, everything in between.

wonderful release by kyle hall on his new detroit based label wild oats. masterpiece 4 track ep, each track divine and unique in its own way. hot jazzy kyle hall fashioned deephouse that can serve a lounge and at the same time bang even harder on a dancefloor. kyle halls experimentalist off beat antics meets smooth jazz would be a way to describe the sound. poly rhythms everywhere but at the same time a cohesive groovy soulful feel. overall this ep is a must buy for anyone who is for the future of the electronic music genre and enjoys quality.

r.i.p. hollertronix series, that club staple borne in philly by diplo and low b that, in its lifetime, has seen the pair rise from small time basement collaborators and underground party hustlers to major label players and arena rockers. it helped introduced the world to bmore and balie funk music and let djs know it was okay to embrace a pluralistic club experience where its more than okay to crunch up a set with indie, hip hop and dance music. the seeds of hollertronix are sown, but now they ve grown, with the departure of low b, diplo has nursed the growth into the full fledged mad decent label under universals downtown records umbrella. the last word from hollertronix is this, a four track banger from amsterdams the partysquad, which is the hollertronix 10 12inch. it includes potential future classics: pull up, crazyfunkystyle, murderer & rage.
