ben jacobs aka crackazat first made a name for himself when he was still living in bristol and released on ep on the city s futureboogie label, which has also signed music from the likes of julio bashmore, crazy p and outboxx. early in his career crackazat was also the official warm up act for an at the time up and coming artist called floating points, who now needs no introduction as one of the world s leading electronic music producers. moving to sweden shortly after the futureboogie release, crackazat made contact with the local talk owners mad mats and tooli, and after a couple of single/ep releases signed his debut solo album crescendo. the last couple of years crackazat has had an explosion of global popularity, which has led to playing gigs all over the world, and releasing tracks and remixes on labels ranging from josh wink s ovum, joey negro s z records and eureka in japan. classically trained with a strong jazz influence, crackazat has a distinctively individual sound that fuses funk with soulful vocals and the electronic bass music associated with his former home of bristol. eloquent and intelligent, rainbow fantasia is a masterpiece that showcases one of electronic music s most exciting talents.

we ve had our eyes and ears on tee mango for a while now. his debut album imperfections is a future classic in our book and the tribute series has been part of our dj-sets for a while now. in short we had to get him to do an ep for local talk. dadhaus ep is forward-thinking music with an edge (undoubtedly sharpened through countless studio hours). tee channels the deep house flavours of detroit and chicago across four tracks of exquisitely executed percussion and sample-not-sample work. its another winner from the man like tee mango.

nycs finest dj spinna comes through on local talk with an epic release that might surprise those of you expecting a more traditional soulful house workout ! this time spinna went out of his comfort zone with a deep warehouse journey that works equally well in dark european house clubs or at the shelter in nyc. tb or not tb got that perfect blend of space darkness, analogue synths and that old school house thump. initially it s quite raw and simplistic but the true magic of this track begins halfway in (be patient!). if there ever was a journey track, this is the one! but we re not done, on the flip spinna also comes through with a warm and melodic deep house jam destined for those very last small hours. oh btw...that analogue bassline got that extra. thang!

talk about the legends of house and kenny dope gonzalez holds one of the undisputed seats in the gallery. since breaking out of brooklyn as new york house began to dominate the 1990s the dope man rose to the very top with masters at work, gaining a peerless reputation as beatmaker, producer and dj. originally brought to strictly rhythm as a teenager by todd terry, he became one of the key producers in forging the strictly sound through releases by the untouchables and total kaos, and his work with louie vega on the sole fusion and hardrive projects. back home at strictly with a fresh new production (for the first time since 1999), kenny teams up with another legend of house, roland clark (aka south st player) for talk dirty, a rumbustious, risque excursion that sees clark delivering one of his trademark monologues over kenny s perfect beats. it s a fitting sound for the 900 number the landmark nine hundredth single released on strictly rhythm

cuthead have, over the last few years released all kinds of gritty house and hip hop beats but normally through his friends over at uncanny valley. we re now overjoyed to offer you his first ep on local talk and honestly, it s everything we could ve hoped for. spread out over four tracks you get a real dirty basement jam (fuck that shit), a sample friendly house nugget (get down) and a melodic 4/4 tune that sounds like if cuthead and our old friend hnny hooked up in the studio together it got that lil sweet twist we all love! to round off the ep we also included something extra special for the beat heads, a jazzy instrumental hip hop number (what can i say). a pretty good debut on local talk if you ask us

it really feels like we (aka mad mats & tooli) have been around way longer than 5 1/2 years with local talk, but it s really true what they say, time flies when you re having fun! from what started as a somewhat simple and almost primitive urge to create a small house imprint has now grown into a much bigger affair. we really tried hard to keep the label from getting stuck in any genre (remember 90s house?) and to always keep the local talk relevant, curious, diverse and with a healthy dose of underground mentality. from our very first release with bassfort s excellent moon shadow in the summer of 2011, we had a crystal clear vision of what local talk should represent...house music in any way, shape or form! over the years we released soulful, disco, jack, afro, vocal, deep, jazz, tech, latin, old school, acid, uk, berlin, new jersey, detroit and of course chicago inspired house music. if it made us bump...we put it out! this brings us up to today and about +80 releases later. we thought about how we best could sum up these first 5 1/2 years and immediately the image of blaze s classic album 25 years later popped up. besides the fact that it s an amazing album cover it also a good representation when different musical genres fuse together. it s not strictly a house album but just as well a r&b, reggae and soul album. this fusion and variation of house sounds is something that we ve tried to capture on our 5 1/2 years later compilation, split into two parts. on part 2 you ll find a high energy disco rub from parisian s3a, a truly deep and soulful vocal jam from boddhi satva & sly johnson, a deep uk garage production from smbd (aka simbad), a dark and electronic affair from toto chiavetta (yoruba) and finally a musical acid number with that magical bristol touch from newcomer marcel lune. all in all we think we got most angles covered and hopefully this album will make you spread that chalk on the dance floor and get down...local talk style

claes rosen makes a welcome return to local talk after his daydreaming release back in 2013. for his new release claes has written a beautiful house jam that s got after hours written all over it. it s melodic, soulful, spiritual but still mighty uplifting. fans of glenn underground or blaze should listen carefully. on the flip we ve got something truly special for all the real house heads - lars bartkuhn & marek bartkuhn aka needs are back on the house circuit. yup, it s true! needs are back once again and agreed to deliver a remix for local talk. back in the late 90 s and early 2000 s needs was a huge breath of fresh air to the house scene with their melodic chicago inspired house sound. the remix delivered here is again something timeless and unique, sounding simultaneously classic and new! it s a real builder, so let this one run its full course. trust us, you ll be rewarded big time!

hailing from the small town of stroud, south west england, marcel lune has been quickly building his reputation as one of the hottest new talents in the uk bass music scene. having discovered an 808 in his parents attic at a young age, it quickly became one his favourite toys and set him off on a musical voyage which is beginning to gather momentum. having already released a string of releases including a full album for studio rockers last year, this release with local talk is a new chapter in the ever growing marcel lune saga. this debut for local talk is nothing short of brilliance. an ep that sits somewhere between the early floating points days and local talk s very own crackazat jamming with harvey sutherland. from the opening track sketches marcel brings broken house rhythms, piano chords and dancing acid lines in a glorius way. the clever vocal arrangement on eat good takes no prisoners and on the flip crazy love , another vocal track, marcel slows things down a bit together with vocalist bluesz. the ep ends with soul music, upping the energy level slightly with its snappy, jazz-influenced beats and dancing synth lines. a beautiful and fitting addition to the ever expanding local talk catalogue.

tommy garofalo aka turbojazz returns to local talk after remixing corrado bucci back in 2015. a producer with great versatility that started djing and producing music during the 90 s, heavily inspiried by hip hop. something that would bring him to explore the whole black music culture, from dance floor jazz to rare funk and disco, passing through all things soulful and deep. take all of the above & stir it in a musical pot and you get the unbreakable ep , the debut 12- on local talk from turbojazz. the ep kicks of with please u which features david blank on vocals. a retro-futuristic track with warm chords draping themselves over snappy snares & melodies. on the flip, unicorn rising bounces along with the sort of finesse you d expect from a producer like recloose, it s flavoured with quirky breaks and warm fuzz bass & analogue-sounding keys. last but not least we ve got evm128 on remix duties, a feel-good slice of broken beat anyone ? it s a blinder ladies and gentlemen.

fox tooth was one of the big releases of 2015 on local talk. if you haven t heard it you probably dont remember 2015 at all! all we did was play fox tooth. now, a year later we re proud to present the fox tooth remixes. karizma aka kaytronik gets straight to the point, strips down the original and tensely builds the track slowly, keeping the groove on the bone. on the flip, peacy offers a remix with all the elements of the original, perfectly combined with a few tricks of his own, in a stunning new combination, it sure impresses.

repress 2016 !! last year stockholm based producer hnny provided us one of the biggest releases on local talk to date. now he’s back with a follow up, yearning, a straight up jackin’ house track to prove he’s not just one trick pony. dirtytwo got lot’s of music planned for 2013 on local talk. first up is a remix of hnny’s ”for the very first time”. this particular version started out as a secret weapon which they guys used in the liveset. mats & tooli heard it and decided that their version had to be released. simply put, the dirtytwo midas touch version is pure gold.

over the past several years, j(ay).a.d has released several eps touching on footwork, dubstep, grime and dancehall, approaching dance music with a wide open lens that tends to blur accepted genre lines. a bjork co-sign earlier last year jettisoned the amsterdam-based artist into the popular consciousness. raised in suriname, j(ay).a.d is the consummate dance music outsider and despite living in amsterdam, his music hardly ever fits in with the citys house and techno hegemony. the ogri ai ep is very much a blueprint record, simultaneously paranoid and dark, its seeped in industrial dread and natural beauty. and while many of j(ay).a.ds contemporaries attempt to create more alien sounding music at the expense of a human element, the ogri ai ep has been a overlooked milestone for the hybrid footwork & grime realm, and its now back on re-stock.
