life is long is an opening gate to the world of lithuanian jazzy house. the funky basslines and turntablist stylings, topped with the organic sounds of light, swinging, latin percussion, wailing saxophones, and fluttering flutes forms the distinct sound of jazzus juice. the release includes amazingly frivolous and funky remix crafted by talented mr. rithma (om records).
MY HEART RATE RAPID
12Inch
09.04.08
first single to be lifted from the forthcoming lp is a flawless representation of some of the freakishly danceable tracks contained therein. a wholly original mashup of electronics, my heart rate rapid is sheer falsetto laden, drum battering brilliance. although metronomys elliptical, insidious, multi coloured art pop sounds nothing like colognes legendary purveyors of prog disco, can do offer clues to the lineage the band belong to. add early brian eno, sparks, devo, talking heads, soft cell, and then scratch your head for more recent examples of abstract music, full of experiment, risk, and individuality that somehow resolves itself into pop that makes you sing and dance and feel like a big kid and you realise that you cant think of any, because metronomy are, in the current pop milieu, an utterly unique proposition.
COLOURS EP
12 Inch
09.04.08
although only 23 years of age englishmen cris barratt is already considered one of the hottest new producers on the block. what makes him really special is his unique blend of sounds, which is not melodic house, minimal, tribal, rock electro or techno, but at the same time it is all of that. two tracks on this ep are the best reflection of chris >get maximal< approach: he builds the story slowly, upgrades the basic theme bit by bit, then weaves in another leading theme and spices the blend with unexpected small but effective element from the late 90s. the result of this blending is very rich, warm sound, perfect for the parties somewhere at the seaside. re-release

deep, deeper, peter grummich! this man is on a roll right now, and with every new release you have to ask yourself where this is all going to lead to? however with the >garden ep< he now already delivers the perfect soundtrack for weeding the beds and waterblasting the terrace - and for partying hard, of course. >beachtrak< prefers its quintessential sub-harmonics to just playing it safe with an upfront bassdrum, and finally channels its way in a wide arc up to the next level. a hit also for friends of water gardens. on the b-side grummich enlarges his melodic skills with a sweet flowery scent of detroit on the track >garden<, and >its to share<, which evolves into a great anthem with just an assumed number of 3 sounds and a couple of snotty claps

ultraphat marek hemmann remix !! support comes from anthony collins, italoboyz, karotte, dj misk, mark henning and many more.. on a1 marcus meinhardt is telling the story of jerry lee in passionate dark sounds. he’s painting pictures from the dark side of town in which he was torn into. in the dense frames he hunted the adventure. a visionary, whose hair followed in electric line shape the power of his movements. when he runs - he runs for his life. marek hemmann how ever highlights jerry lee to a sunny place, to pick and count some daisys, in which the rough guy revives like a tame light being.

by now dazzle drums and nite grooves are old friends. this being their 5th release on the label, the beat goes on and carries us with it. gypsyman turns out an organic bent out of shape (we didnt say warped!), percussive, almost dubby, instrumental delight. this is one of the definite moods one would hear at say, the shelter. its got that kind of clubby rhythmic organic vibe. call it what you will, we call it hot. tokyo deep that follows is a more upbeat instrumental full of synth moog sounds and overflowing washes. very car chase or early 80s stalk you cinema, catch the drama while you can!

WE ARE COSMONOTE BLUE EP 1
12 Inch
19.03.08
the title track made a brief appearance last year, garnering spins from the likes of fergie on radio 1. its now primed for full release, retaining its cool stuttering bleeped out hook atop a strident bassline thats designed to make sure no one can physically stand still, whether they want to or not. its also catchy as fuck. mike healey drops a cleaner remix that techs it out some, the first third or so of the track just twitters, phased sounds and hints at whats to come. its 1.00am central trip material until that bass finally implodes. are we alone? is a deeper closing cut, with suitably zoned out vocal samples and more electro tech shenanigans, making for a near essential ep for those who like it dark and trippy.

the first aroma release of the year is definitely worth the long wait. originally uk singer natalie williams released this song on her late 2006 album secret garden but wonder boy giom (london) who beefed up already swirl peoples last single a few months ago has now done his magic tricks again and housed up this song with grace. this is not your average deep house song but this how vocal deep house sounds anno 2008: clever beats, wiggly keys and a heavenly vocal by natalie to make this all to a perfect dance floor blend. and now you are ready for the spring with this new aroma release!
after the huge success of wahnsin, here is the next dancefloor burner from marco bailey and his long time friend and production partner tom hades. blast has a simply devastating effect on the floor with its dubfire inspired peaktime sounds. saint paul is more melodic and gets a remix treatment by one of the hottest men of the moment, gregor tresher. this one is not to miss under any circumstances!!!

persona label boss stewart walker returns with his first 12 release since last year s well-received album >concentricity<. on this release he continues to seek the correct balance between power and detail in high, medium, and low intensity versions. the powerful a - side, >the stiff materialist< kicks off the release with at least a thousand sounds and a clearly defined dynamic narrative which shifts between many unique-sounding peaks and plateaus.
global player vincent vega (resident: ministry of sound sessions in st. petersburg) meets twinpitch which had just a big success with her latest singles >nonstop< and the result is a real electro-house smasher with some progessive elements. the violin arrangement on the original mix is the perfect contrast to the electronic sounds and at the whole line reminds a bit on >yellow - the race<. the sunday noon mix is the minimalistic version of the track. on b1 is a very strong remix by gorge

FEIJAO COM ARROZ (7 INCH)
7Inch
06.03.08
continuing far outs 7inch series, joyce scats her way over two high octane bossas with an unmistakable feminina-style sound. this 7inch features an exclusive version of feijao com arroz - a track from joyces forthcoming cd yet here with a scorching bassline that differs from the album version and will ensure the tune gets flipped by those djs who know the damage a bass led bossa groove can do to a dancefloor. feijao com arroz - rice and beans - might be the simplest of brazilian dishes yet this track is a master class in samba jazz. joyce and her banda blend the basic ingredients of bass, drums, guitar and vocals into a rhapsodic groove that sounds like it could be a lost classic from seminal joyce albums such as feminina or tardes cariocas. joyce weaves a web of sonorous guitar work in between tuttys frenetic cymbal work as her scat lifts the tune high whilst a driving bassline pushes the groove low, surely putting feijao com arroz up there with the likes of aldeia de ogum and feminina. on the flipside lies penalty, a live favourite from joyces recent japanese tour. again on paper the ingredients look simple - bass, drums, guitar and vocals - yet in the hands of joyce and co the elements are blended together to create a celestial slice of spiritual jazz dance guaranteed to lift even the weariest of souls.

VALT TRAX
12 Inch
03.03.08
detroit artists seth troxler & patrick russell join forces for their first ep >valt trax< on circus company in what is obviously a successful piece of teamwork. seth troxler, now living in berlin, has been attracting attention with his spacey, funky atmospheric releases on labels such as spectral, items & things (as thrill cosby), omarss fxhe ( as young seth), esperanza, beretta grey, leftroom, and dumb unit, moving into more and more interesting territories with every one of his releases. the idea behind the ep was to recreate a vibe identical to that of the heyday of underground dance music and instant insanity of the early 90s on a record that sounds like it was lost in a dusty vault for 20 years and just rediscovered.
PAPAIA EP
12 Inch
03.03.08
tony lionni is the new signing here at versatile. listening to papaia one cant help to think that 2008 will be the year that progressive house will make its comeback. it has been a long time since we had heard such a simple and effective kick and bass intro. the hi-hat then come in along with a small acid sound. the filter opens before the rhythm accelerates. in the middle of the track, the main melody gets dropped in, arms raise and the listener gets lost in the darkness of the night. on the b side, shuffle explores the deeper roots of lionni. the title is surely a reference to the beat, which is predominant in this track. once again the hi-hats are up infront mixed to percussive sounds, which undulate to the rhythm of the bass, making this track an essential tool, ready-to-use and be mixed into almost anything.

nice price deal !!! behold ear goodies from fjordfunk, with his hi quality sonic fishing fleet. the sounds of epic coldwater trawling can now be yours in the safety and comfort of your own adobe. the scampi disco scamp takes dancefloor analog melodic waves from the seas and oceans of tranquility, and then weaves the cosmogony of new record label, luna flicks, deftly and with the skill of loki himself into strangely solid beat nets to catch unwary listeners by the feet. with this, the first lunar orbit, we hear ovid 8 metamorphose into a post 9/11 poissonier. good lord, st. francis himself couldnt get the mackerel dancing so well (despite their lack of jiving feet)! an anthem for the pre apocalyse generation, spinning a woven path to dancefloor bliss and enlightenment. this is fjordfunk: hear him roar.
