little beat different issues is a new series focused on reissuing music from eastern european regions previously unavailable on western markets. the first release is a compilation by project orm, the moniker of czech producer team petr and pavel orm. originally formed as a disco group in the late 1970’s, pioneers of electronic dance music in former czechoslovakia, petr and pavel quickly rose to fame as the country’s eminent pop producers. working with the then icons of the communist czechoslovak scene such as karel gott and josef laufer, they stand behind countless hits from that era. however, not many knew that the duo also released their own records, whose sound and artistic direction was different to their mainstream pop productions. this compilation cherry-picks the tracks from 4 different albums released between 1979 and 1984.

pedro abrantes and valdemar pereira’s intense and cold approach in the next release of e.f.a.e. would fit perfectly as the soundtrack to david cronenberg’s film crash (1997), guiding the listener through a world of perversion and obsession. a raw experience, usually of violence, where human nature is expressed through old rhythm boxes and cheap guitar pedals, sounding dirty, fuzzy, with an healthy disregard for rules of fidelity or even functionality. gam / coletivo vandalismo emerges like a sonic terrorist cell, out to implode traditional notions of dance music infusing a sense of dread and menace.

after three years and ten eps, amsterdam s will & ink label offers up its first full length from label favorite yaleesa hall and is called woodall. it explores texture, space and sound design in fascinating ways. since 2014 yaleesa hall has released four eps on the label and has become known for breakbeat laced stripped-down techno. this debut album finds the producer indulging a less dance floor focussed version of his sound, and one that is better suited to the full length format. explaining that his tracks most often start as -sound structures and experiments- that then get reworked for the club, here they stay closer to their original forms. woodall is sound sculpture that is electronic and synthetic but also made of real world sounds that are all truly absorbing. comes in gatefold sleeve.

the mythical transdance from uk duo night moves is given a much needed official repress by domestica records and the barcelona label have spared no expense. a limited pressing of 400 10-s come housed in hand screen printed sleeves accompanied by a leaflet with complete biography of the band. despite the paucity of night moves discography, it s clear the duo of michael guihen and john davis have had an everlasting effect on the canon of synth music with their much admired debut. transdance was originally released as a limited 12- white label in 1981, finding favour on the dance floors of europe and new york city yet never really gained the wider exposure it richly deserved. original copies of the gc1 pressing of transdance still command slightly ridiculous prices on discogs so kudos to domestica for this rather special presentation which features a previously unreleased demo cut -life up- on the flip.

one of the most charismatic pioneers of uk dance music, skream, is back on the visionary label that is crosstown rebels. the momentous ‘you know, right?’ has been avidly searched for since it’s inception and will finally be released in november 2016. this two track ep contains two innovative productions from the musical chameleon, pushing the boundaries of genre once again with breakbeat percussion, potent keys and a garage style vocal on the monstrous ‘you know, right’. the ep also features the techno soundscape ‘minor smooth’ on the b-side, which also is going down a storm . we last saw skream on crosstown rebels last year with the epic ‘still lemonade’, which gained high critical acclaim. keeping the standards high the truly individual ‘you know, right?’ has already been heavily supported this summer by jackmaster, jamie jones, annie mac, steve lawler and damian lazarus amongst others. starting out as one of dubstep’s first most prominent and prolific producers, skream went on to achieve commercial success and critical acclaim with magnetic man alongside artwork and benga reaching no.5 in the uk album chart and reaching no.10 in the uk singles chart. more recently he has been releasing on his label of unsound mind and as a sought after remixer on labels such as boysnoize records, hot creations and watergate records.

daze makes a first appearance on torn hawk s valcron video label with a distinctive trio of adventurous jams hovering on the fringes of the dance. slums of grand central is certainly crafted with the party in mind, but it s a more introspective kind of get down for those who like popping at a slower tempo. torn hawk then takes the track to task with a tense revision that comes on like uneasy 90s electronica before decor lays waste to the surroundings with a slamming remix that pushes into hard techno territory while retaining the wistful tones of the original.

the motorcity boys are back with loveit003 a fresh sounding 4 tracker strongly reflecting the diversity of styles found at their parties. lds kicks thing off with 909 to heaven, a jacking and balearic workout with a rootstrax, chicago style bassline keeping the floor hypnotised until the small hours of the morning. snares, kicks & rhodes is a more laid back jam. lazy warm pads and a slow winding sub bass rise and fall intermittently only to be interrupted by a lo-fi distorted bass that snaps you right out of that trance. nico brun opens the flip side with an absolute banger, hazily reminiscent of that 90’s warehouse rave. lds and nico brun close the ep with an atmospheric collaboration perfect to start or end the night with. splashy beats keep up the footwork whilst pulsating synth sounds slowly wind together and drop with a beautifully crafted sample that’s guaranteed to bring some sexyness back to the dance floor. this ep will definitely be a regular addition to your record bag to spread those warm summer party sounds. bruno farace early support: xdb (echochord / dolly): debut ep? congrats! end monologue is my favourite.
