it’s with a lot of excitement that archipel’s boss himself releases a vinyl extract of his album’s favorite tracks. while the album which consist of 2 cds, we thought some of the works would fit well in the hands of collectors who would push the tunes in their quirky sets. the opening track, titled “big trouble in little cave” is one that could haunt a techno party in berlin where in the breakdown, things just go out of control and while you think you can’t take anymore, the music takes you back to earth. tests have proven to be used with care, reports indicate some people reacted with a lot of noise. “dérape totale” is perhaps a cross of four tet releasing on raster noton. awkward combo indeed but the strange structure on top of weirdly arranged percussion is set to catch your attention and draw you into an inner journey. with the chance of having manchester’s dncn join him for vocals, pheek goes with his first interpretation of what a pheekie-pop tune could be: fun, intriguing and catchy! >follow the flow< is the closing track and is one build tension with surprising exploding percussion clashes on top of melodic waves.

the dj-duo-team johnas belardinelli & vincenzo busceti are known for their fantastic soulful house partys in switzerland & they always have the right choice of the musically selection during their dj sets. but this is not their only talent as you can hear in this production. «my way» is featured by the fantastic voice of carlos santanas singer tony lindsey, who brings the track to the right level for a purple release

the 4th release on their own imprint >pattern repeat< (resoe & kenneth christiansen) again delivers two killer techno tracks. the duo has really built themselves a solid reputation on the previous 3 releases, and gained support from artists like function, silent servant, pär grindvik, levon vincent, darko esser, reference, samuli kemppi. pattern repeat shows how the modern berlin sound really can get a twist of the new sound of copenhagen.

originally released on chain reaction in 1996, pelons >no stunts< harks back to a time when the nowadays so gladly used and over-used term >dub techno< was still waiting to be found. but thats secondary. the main thing is: >no stunts< is here again. with addictive, heavily-transformed and echoed synth sounds connected to a strong and pulsating bass line, it is exactly that type of no-frills techno you just cannot stop listening to. now restored and remastered, the a-side contains an edit taken from the 1998 chain reaction cd >various: compiled…< - previously unavailable on vinyl. as if this wouldnt be enough advocacy for vinyl as the agent of choice, the flipside holds 30 locked grooves extracted from the original recording session of no stunts that you wont necessarily find in the track itself and most definitely not as downloads. especially enjoyable with two copies. the effects can last forever

piemonts newest release on mbf is in tune with their new more house flavoured trax and twists it slightly.smoking cave conveys new jack feeling with cool vocals meeting each other... clashing nicely and creating a super funky rhythm, incorporated in their own piemont groove. the track is as multicoloured and multidimensional as it possible can be, genre bending, cool, combining so many elements of different genres... it explodes on the dance floor. house djs as well as minimal djs will like these house chords and ascending strings, in the best wild pitch manner.

alek stark teams up with some of electros freshest talent for this potential electro hit. the original version here is a full-on workout to get down to, with agitated vocal and hard beats, while next in line is the totally sublime >i can see the lights< featuring victoria lukas of zerkalo (heinrich mueller & victoria lukas). not to be over-shadowed however are two stealthily executed reworks from proto 70 and jauzas the shining - most definitely forward thinking electro for the body and mind. this is one ep not to be missed!

the green door studio opened its (confusingly black) doors to glasgows vibrant music community at the end of 2007. set up by three glasgow-based musicians emily maclaren (michael dracula/the lady vanishes), sam smith (mother & the addicts) and jamie greer (park attack), who, sick of using other peoples clinical digital studios and being told by engineers >you cant do that..<, decided to create a musician-friendly space where >actually you can...<.

dolly goes all raw as we might expect from a label thats done by a panoramabar resident dj. stripped down, barenaked tracks that show their fragile essence. and in case you wonder why these tracks have such a great chicago-ish vibe, well thats because they are from chicago. no further info about this new project from a known producer... but all we can say is that we like it.

the new kill a beat is coming straight from berlin! it s a split ep by the friends alex sander and lars wickinger. alex sander is well known by his label killabeat and last release on session deluxe with rekardo rivalo. he was living some years in sao paulo. there he worked as booking agent for intergroove. this time gave him a lot of influences for his music. his style is a hot mix of minimal electro and techhouse. now alex presents 1 track (nuit) for kill a beat. nuit is a very warm and soulful funky tech-house tune. you can really feel the spirit of south america in this track. nuit is rollin very percussive and groovy with some vocal snippets and typical south american folk elements. the second one is made by lars wickinger. after his releases on tanzbar and kachelfunk, he finally is back with funky buthole on kill a beat ! on the b-side is an amazing remix by andy kohlmann (lordag / extrasmart). his style is a little bit deeper and more minimalistic. this track is perfect for the current techhouse sound all around the world. the whole ep is definitely hot, and will bring the summer back to your hearts, during the cold fall months.

edit-select reach their 10th release, and to celebrate they have chosen possibly the biggest track from the previous 9 releases. gary becks consumed. this monster of a track (which featured on richie hawtins sounds from can elles dj magazine mix), has been remixed by mark broom, and dutch techno legend speedy j. brooms bang bang mix is typical of his dark techno sound which of course fits perfectly on edit select, and speedy j cranks the intensity up a notch, with his repetitive groove that just sounds immense on a big system (when of course played on vinyl). there you have it. the labels biggest release to date, and by far the most limited

qu keeps showing how the house sound can be streetched in ways you didnt think possible, or at least probable. twisted and deep!

with this release sinan kaya, an istanbul based dj and producer, is becoming a fresh member of the berlin tonkind crew. since 2001 his passion became also his profession, which he continuously dispread with dj-ing and scores of releases across the bosporus over to europe. his productions and sets can be defined as deep and playful. so aswell this release, which comes up with three variable tracks. something else in the front, shows sinan kayas touch for the impulsive sound.this track becomes a real trip on the dance floor and reflects a farsighted feeling for elctronic dance music. on the fells operates more the minimal genre and adepts a symbiosis of many samples, a duby bass and a bumpy rollin groove. as last but not least there is bloom, a rather charming and friendly tech/ deep house track consisting all required ingredients to make it work as dance floor teaser. in all three tracks its possible to notice some eclectic material of jazz, funk, chigago and jackin fragments put together to a unique sound and providing a different vision for life

nice price deal !!! prinzhorn dance school announce their return with new single – >seed, crop, harvest.< we havent heard a thing from tobin prinz and suzi horn for three years (their debut lp was released on dfa back in 2007) but theyve been far from work-shy. they toured extensively, then came home and built their own bespoke recording studio (the red shed) – and learned how to use it. time consuming endeavors which saw them drop off the music radar. which might just explain the title of the equally charged b-side >off the radar, off the system<. in their own words: >weve been busy. just not busy making records. you have to live too. you can only write so many songs about motorway service stations and airports<. they recorded and mixed both songs themselves in the red shed, with bob weston taking on mastering duties. …prinzhorn dance school are back! and dfa could not be more proud
