dark entries is proud to present the deluxe 2xlp reissue of �come visit the big bigot� by severed heads, oone of the longest surviving bands to emerge from the australian post-punk independent music scene. they began in sydney in 1979, incorporating elements of �industrial� noise-generation, tape cutting & looping and electronic sound synthesis. as the project developed song-structures and vocals were employed in a more-or-less recognizable mutant electro pop style. after many line-up changes featuring garry bradbury and psychedelic guitarist simon knuckey, severed heads was the vehicle for composer tom ellard. �come visit the big bigot� was severed heads� first record to be released commercially simultaneously in australia, north america and europe in 1986. it was a prime period for this industrial dance music and bigot was a respected album that did well from the tour they did with skinny puppy that same year. quite a few people still define the band by this period. �come visit the big bigot� was made on a fostex 16 track recorder in tom�s bedroom, employing the newly acquired akai s612 sampler and roland sh-101 to create most of the drum sounds. the album signaled a new direction, flirting with the dance floor and the pop song. presenting the heads at their most cohesive, while retaining their distinctive musical stamp. tom�s vocals are harmonized, slowed down, sped up, run through fuzz boxes, backwards, drum machine rolls, sampled guitars, horn sections, and voices but with a subversive rather than malevolent intention. tape loops are more subtle and define their own space and texture. like the original australian version of the album, we�ve included a bonus disc featuring three extended remixes by sydney dj robert racic (who produced the edited 7� version of �petrol� we reissued in 2015), plus three b-sides from the �twenty deadly diseases�12� and two additional tracks from the same recording sessions.

matthias puech composes electronic music, designs musical instruments and exlores the nature of computing and mathematics in a single artistic gesture. his music, a collection of contemplative stills of imaginary landscapes, is in major part composed on modular synthesizers and features unique experimental devices that matthias creates. these delicate sonic landscapes draw their inspiration from the physically of natural and animal sounds and form the beauty of mathematical concepts, being a research scientist by day.

off the back of their first ep release, super fun bumper editions trends, which received support from the likes of xl8r, thump, future classic, and bradley zero, beats of no nation is now gearing up for its second release by the chord memory band. chord memory band is a recent collaboration between michael medlycott (from the band vulture street tape gang) and dom bird (bonn co-founder and member of the live disco 4 piece mitzi). at the end of 2016, michael and dom caught wind of a cave, nestled beneath a sacred mountain, deep in the australian outback. the rumours described a cave filled with nocturnal animals and ancient flora, but more importantly, a stash of vintage synthesizers and drum machines. guided by whispers and caught up in the mystic mystery of it all, the duo set off with a dusty four-track tape recorder in an attempt to capture these mythical cave vibes and place them on a record. michael and dom surfaced several months later, with four recordings and no memory of what had occurred. these recordings became their synergistic third eye ep � an analogue journey into the spiritual world, with one simple message, the answer is inside.

ixvlf is back at it again following the language of mini-album released earlier this year as part of our ongoing tape series. pushing it further from where we last left off, connor clasen�s vinyl debut reflects our ever growing desire to re-interpret club music in its most primitive and cartilaginous nature. while cleverly obscuring any reference to a specific period of time, involuntary movement shows a sense of the american-based producer stretching disorienting imagery over the existing landscape of proto-industrial � matching the visual interpretation of ailsa ogden undertaking the artwork by way of a new collaboration to be expanded over a handful of releases � where unpolished synthesizers and rhythm machines collide and bawl in a controlled crash. it is an exercise of existing in various states of detachment, a fixation on mechanical repetition and unpredictable behaviors through the haze of helium laughter. definitely one for the animals.

after releasing two albums independently (little armenia, saturday night at the magic lamp) as well as scoring music for the recent vice films release a girl walks home alone at night (produced by elijah wood), the next release from los angeles-based producer bei ru is l.a. zooo, his first instrumental beat concept record which incorporates everything from bugged-out middle eastern melodies from the 1970s to obscure electronic, funk, jazz & soul sounds. hypnotizing keyboards, pulsating bass lines, and infectious drums guide you through the l.a. zooo - a playful, yet ominous place where humans and animals coexist and weapons and armor are required for simple walks down the street.
