after the extremely successful filmmusik ep on rompecabeza, holgi star is back with >not for me<. the ep consists of two tracks with technoid crossover potential! on >not for me< bits of african vocals meet functional techno and seamlessly weave together into a quite sexy and rather danceable number. all the while >dont feel it< coolly, calmly, and with just enough repetition, establishes its class and style without unneeded flourishes. both tracks were extensively tested by the rompe crew at sonar 2008 in barcelona, and reactions spoke of the potential both of the artist and the ep itself!!!
dj support from ricardo villalobos, tobi neumann (cocoon), raresh (rpr sound-system), locodice , luciano, onur ozer & rob mello, luke solomon, geddes, matt tolfrey... la raza starts with deep tribal rhythms and a discrete baseline, as the track builds, weaving in synthetic indian calls which finally breakout and turn this into a peak-time monster. on the flip, dinky takes a rare remix excursion, creating a deep psychedelic version of the original. her trademark groove wraps itself around you drawing you in further and further stripping everything away into a hedonistic peak, then finally dinky releases you from the spell & back into the rhythms…. already receiving great reaction and picked by onur ozur for his next cd compilation, this will be the start of horizontals sound summer 2008
playlist of: luciano, ricardo, magda, serafin, loco dice, karotte, anja schneider, matthias tanzmann, paco osuna..... the uprising hero on momentum with his follow up on trapizator, which was his debut on vinyl and sold out within days! now he joins forces with another, really highly acclaimed guy from the rhein-main-area: matts star is the guy to deliver a remix-bomb as expected. this release is going to be played by everyone, so no need to mention names.
a classic bit of space disco from the french scene of the 70s. four long tracks that are all pretty darn moogy, and pretty darn great! the work here would fit nicely with some of the best keyboard heavy club of the us scene at the time! not exactly like some of the work on p&p, or the grooves of el coco over at avi - but not that dissimilar either, and often put together with a spare, simple approach thats a welcome contrast from overblown disco of the time! most numbers build up from a funky bassline and beats - adding in the keyboards with great relish, and really letting them jam and get crazy over the top. theres certainly a bit of cosmic fusion going on here too
dear passangers, welcome on board of our >international-freakshow-airlines< flight no.> if-05 <. our two captains for this adventure-remix-trip are cpt. jesse >heartthrob< siminski and co-pilot mr. franco cinelli himself... played by wighnomy brothers
