nach dem überaus erfolgreichen start mit veröffentlichungen von konzerten aus dem legendären hamburger club onkel pÖ im frühjahr des jahres und dem überwältigenden presseecho setzt das label jazzline in zusammenarbeit mit dem norddeutschen rundfunk die reihe ab oktober 2017 fort. der amerikanische trompeter freddie hubbard gastierte mit seinem quintett im oktober 1979 im onkel pö. in der besetzung mit hadley caliman (dax), billy childs (keys), larry klein (bass) und carl burnett (dr) präsentiert sich der trompeter in bestechender form. als freddie hubbard nach hamburg kommt und auf die bühne klettert in �onkel pö�s carnegie hall�, steht er vermutlich so prominent wie selten zuvor oder danach mitten im zentrum der jazz-entwicklung � mit herbie hancock und wayne shorter, ron carter und tony williams hat der trompeter drei jahre zuvor das quintett �v.s.o.p.� formiert, und da die vier anderen ehedem das legendäre zweite quintett um miles davis gebildet hatten, stand freddie hubbard jetzt quasi in dessen direkter nachfolge. ein jazzgeschichtliches zeitdokument!

nach dem überaus erfolgreichen start mit veröffentlichungen von konzerten aus dem legendären hamburger club onkel pÖ im frühjahr des jahres und dem überwältigenden presseecho setzt das label jazzline in zusammenarbeit mit dem norddeutschen rundfunk die reihe ab oktober 2017 fort. sie war eine der großen stimmen des soul und des blues: esther phillips. die viel zu früh verstorbene künstlerin tourte in den 50er und 60er jahren durch die blues clubs der vereinigten staaten. erst mit ihrem discohit what a difference a day makes wurde sie einem größeren publikum bekannt und erreichte den kommerziellen höhepunkt ihrer karriere. das vorliegende konzert aus dem hamburger onkel pö zählt zu einer ihrer letzten großen auftritte. das vom ndr aufgezeichnete konzert im �onkel pö�, mit kraftvollen begleitern in der band und sehr enthusiastischem publikum, dokumentiert auf gleich zwei cd�s die außergewöhnlichkeit dieser großartigen künstlerin. noch einmal gelingt die große verzauberung in diesem hamburger november des jahres 1978. esther phillips wird wenige wochen später erst 43 jahre alt. aber die zeit läuft ab � die 50 hat die sängerin schon nicht mehr erreicht. am 7. august 1984 ist sie gestorben. dieses zeitdokument ist ein �must have�!

hope are in the black phase. everything around them is obscured. every lyric and every spark of music, every photograph and every recording is drenched in black. it�s not the black of wave or gothic bands, but the unpretentious black of portishead or talk talk. a black arising from a wound and at the same time covering the wound, burying it. a scab. a black letting you forget the jazz, the academics, and the provinces that hope has come from. in germany, jazz, academics and the provinces are very close, and hope had to live through most painful experiences, play many unnoticed concerts, and remain unloved to find the love for themselves and their music. only this explains the dark stringency and consequence of their self-titled debut album (produced by olaf opal), featuring monolithic songs like cell, kingdom and raw. songs, sounding rather like dystopic infinity than a light-hearted debut album. songs, compressed to one word, as if the listener should not waste any time with reading, but start listening. listen and dive into the endless hope wave of sound, vehemence and black. and yes, during all of this, the iconic singer christine börsch-supan is naked. we can only guess her contours - it is too dark.

olim in latin can be used to indicate a time in the past or in the future. it can mean �once upon a time� and �someday in the future�. a name and a project to try to move away from trends and genres, by taking inspiration from the past but at the same time leaving it, moving forward to shape a different and more narrative sound. the first attempt to do so is recursively: an 8 track album, opening with a sentence from bunny marrett sampled from an old documentary about st paul�s and the jamaican immigration in bristol during the 80�s. inspired by those intro words, recursively is a journey born from many years moving around, packing and unpacking suitcases, leaving villages, finding cities,leaving friends and finding more, emigrating, integrating. it�s a story about an entire generation trying to find the peace somewhere, somehow, sometimes by repeating the same steps in a loop of actions which seem to be the same but ultimately never are. it�s a soundtrack of those feelings and at the same time a message of hope to continue the journey through the faith that the meaning is the infinite journey itself. an infinite loop masterfully represented in carol rollo�s illustration. a story to be continued.

this is a collection of works from british musician gp hall, recorded between 1994 and 1999. for over four decades, guitar in hand hall encountered many styles, jazz, blues, flamenco, rock, folk, and classical improvisation. all contributed to the creation of his unique style. emerging from the british blues boom of the 1960�s, he then followed a long and winding path through various scenes and cultures. in spain, he was influenced by flamenco master manitas del plata before touring europe with liverpool band casey jones & the governors. he was commissioned three times (twice by the arts council of great britain) for original music and was immersed in the avant-garde scene of the 1970�s as an improviser, a pioneer of electric flamenco and a composer of large-scale ensemble pieces. during the 1980�s hall turned his focus to soundtrack music before reinventing himself as the solo performer he is today. with this strong foundation he branched into a tactile expression of his craft, discovering a new style which he called industrial sound sculptures. these sonic compositions are performed on electric and acoustic guitars as well as the six-string bass and are played with various techniques and implements including slides, battery fans, the psaltery bow, razors, toys, velcro and crocodile clips which are fed through sound processors to create a rich sonic environment.

the latest outing on will & ink is a remix ep that finds parisian producers bambounou and simo cell team up for four reworked versions of yaleesa halls woodall lp. both artists are known for their releases on 50 weapons, livity sound and wisdom teeth. right here, on will & ink, two solo outings with another two collaborated remixes on the b-side showcase their dubbed out, stripped back and paranoid dark parisian trademark sound. their very specific sound sounds like little else and is a solid match with yaleesa hall and the amsterdam imprint as this ep proves.

raw minimal techno specialist mono junk is back with a selection of new material on his own dum records. having pioneered key techno sounds as far back as 1990, more than 20 years later the influential finnish artist is still on top of his game. up first is halo, nine minutes of edgy techno with a nervy lead synth snaking around in paranoid fashion. rolling drums set a direct groove in motion below and the whole thing will be brilliantly hypnotic on the dance floor. halo 2 is a hallucinogenic bit of ambient with celestial drones and icy synth prickles making for a tense interlude, then musta peili is all fucked up and scuzzy, study and disrupted. sounding like a slowed-down techno track heard though a freezing snow blizzard, it is masterfully textured. farewell closes out the ep with an intergalactic bit of glassy melodic techno that will have you up on your toes.

pure, beyond reproach is the new studio album from vibrational club artist egyptrixx. new sensations + new energy, jeep music for a saturn moon. an exercise in physical sound and granular symbolism, this record suggests a parallel between the total impact of human tendency towards absolute loyalty and an imagined, sub-threshold percussion of collisions among all the oceanic micro-plastics.

ursprünglich war nämlich schon 1998 ein album mit diesem titel als bootleg-variante erschienen. dabei handelt es sich jedoch fälschlicherweise um die aufnahme einer show aus manchester, statt aus der royal albert hall.

das album -100%- war längere zeit nicht zu haben. weder auf cd noch digital. die songs sind neu gemastert. die songs sind dieselben, es gibt keine neuen songs oder sonstiges bonusmaterial, einzig beim sound wird man ein paar unterschiede feststellen. den remastering-prozess hat eike freese gemacht. eike freese hat in den letzten 15 jahren an mehr als 170 veröffentlichungen mitgewirkt, darunter auch an alben und dvds von deep purple, saga, apocalyptica, gamma ray, eisbrecher, oomph!, heaven shall burn, callejon, uvm. für seine arbeiten an deep purples -now what?!- the live tapes- und eisbrechers -die hölle muss warten- wurde eike freese mit jeweils einer goldenen schallplatte ausgezeichnet. außerdem wird er mitverantwortlich für das kommende album sein. aber dazu mehr zu seiner zeit. das gesamte artwork wurde überarbeitet. die band ist immer wieder ergriffen über das, was die fans zurückgeben. over the course of four albums, manchester based trumpeter, composer, arranger and band-leader matthew halsall has carved out a niche for himself on the uk music scene as one of it s brightest talents. his languid, soulful music has won friends from jamie cullum and gilles peterson to jazz fm and mojo as well as an ever-growing international following. his label gondwana records is home to gogo penguin and his own albums have found halsall exploring the modal jazz of john and alice coltrane, paying tribute to the hard bop of the late �50s and early �60s or most recently on fletcher moss park drawing on eastern influences in his most personal statement yet. his latest album when the world was one is something of a companion piece to fletcher moss park (much of the music was written at the same time) but draws more explicitly on halsall�s love of spiritual jazz and eastern music as well as his own studies in meditation and travels in japan. beautifully recorded at hasall�s favourite studio, 80 hertz in manchester, and engineered by brendan williams and george atkins it features the recording debut of halsall�s large ensemble, the gondwana orchestra, which utilises the exotic flavours of harp, koto and bansuri flute and eastern scales to create a global palate for halsall�s life-affirming sounds.
