kaffe crème, 21 years old, is finally releasing his debut vinyl ep on his own imprint moonrise hill material founded in february 2015.this year, he took part of multiple projects in addition to the production of this ep such as a jazz house live creation with piano, flute and percussions and the composition of an electro-symphonic artwork. due to his classic, contemporary and jazz percussions practice and his love for old school and electronic music, his ep retraces all of his influences and recounts the progress in his musical research this year.

‘panspermia‘, aptly named after the theory of the ‚all-seed‘ and its universal distribution of life through collision and contamination, is a highly skilled musical journey through the radiant realms of old school techno and into black holes of classic detroit-inspired darkness. with his carefully crafted debut ep, agonis starts out on his first and very personal mission into outerspace, towards the unknown aquazones and far-out planetery fringes of the house und techno universe.

despite delivering a smattering of original nu-disco productions over the years, producer disco tech is probably most famous for his sneaky but relatively faithful reworks of classic funk, soul and disco cuts. here he returns to the re-edit field, reworking more sweet soul and funk jams. waiting on you delivers a slick, floor-friendly take on al green, while devil s work subtly tweaks a mid tempo funk-soul gem, check the suitably slow and dewy-eyed take me as i am.

french producer juliano delivers the next ep, entitled * this must be...*, on his own imprint * that place records*. fourth in line on the label, following on from releases from visitors for reworks, mzkbx (aka sacha mambo) and love comedy, the now berlin-based artist gifts his very first ep to the collection. as a dj, juliano has spent the last 13 years honing his craft - first cutting his teeth holding down a residency at l ambassade, and then going on to play all over france and throughout europe. over a decade of digging and spinning has led juliano to develop a refined palette and a knack for finding tunes that make the dance floor bounce. strongly influenced by us house, * panaugust* is a real dance floor killer with its never ending synth. the more emotional * anthem for a friend* is a real tribute, drawing inspiration from chicago and detroit such as the real mess with its special rhythm & blues vibe. finally, cupid mess brings a touch of japanese mood, evoking images of an early-morning rising sun thanks to the classic juno6 sound. julianos ethos is that music should stay fun - preferring to keep things simple, but always real. watch out for this one.

a defining moment in dance music history was the day that roy davis jr. teamed with vocalist and writer peven everett in 1997 to create this deep, ethereal, soul-music gem that helped launch an entire musical movement known affectionately as speed garage. the live garage mix is the most popular but the other mixes have grown in popularity over time. it is hard to believe that this record is almost 20 years old yet it still sounds as fresh today as it did so long ago. truly a classic that deserves to be celebrated by a new generation of dance music lovers. gabriel play!

dark entries digs deeper in to the archives of severed heads, one of the longest surviving bands to emerge from the australian post-punk independent music scene. they began in sydney in 1979, incorporating elements of ‘industrial’ noise-generation, tape cutting & looping and electronic sound synthesis. as the project developed song-structures and vocals were employed in a more-or-less recognizable mutant electro pop style. in 1986 the band released the 12” single “petrol” on nettwerk records. we’ve decided to shed light on the evolution of “petrol” with this ep showcasing four earlier incarnations of what became an instant synth pop classic.

having recently played an eight hour set to a sold-out crowd at london’s oval space, the prolific dusky drop a trio of moody club tool tracks on 17 steps as they continue their european autumn/winter tour. a club tool in the most effective sense, lead track ’lydia’ is dark, nagging acid groover that builds and builds throughout its 6 hypnotic minutes. with all the melodic material based around the lydian scale, ‘lydia’ was originally inspired by a bizarre, trippy dream alfie had in which everything was all based on the lydian scale. a homage to classic techno, ‘bitter lake’ is a hard-hitting surge of looping, percussive energy and detroit-nodding rave stabs that build to a hoover-fuelled breakdown release. rounding off the trio, the brilliantly titled and uniquely composed ‘infinite libido’ again explores dusky’s more percussive tendencies and has been a regular feature in their dj sets for the past year.

american label beyond the speaker made an impression with their first release angels against dust two years ago, a tasty 12inch split between legowelt & willie burns. for the latest outing, canadian mastermind michael silver aka cfcf (rvng, ghostly, 1080p) celebrates the soul and grooves of house, electro, and techno. three tracks that balance dancefloor hustle, intricate detail and flourishing melodies. lead track head up is a poignant call to the dancefloor, a peak hour house cut with an emergent vocal sample that rallies all for a blissful groove excursion. the b-side is a moodier affair, with mossy wall submerging the listener with potent rhythms as ominous bass intersects with a waking metropolis of melody. and the classic techno sound of sea of love deftly lulls us with gentle vocals and a looping guitar phrase.

prolific doesn’t begin to describe japan’s keita sano, who has come seemingly out of nowhere to become one of the most unique new voices in electronic music thanks to a wildly eclectic clutch of releases for much-hyped labels like 1080p, joakim’s crowdspacer, mister saturday night, spring theory, discos capablanca and more. building on that buzz, sano is unleashing still more head-twisting takes on house and techno via new york’s most excellent unlimited. label boss paul raffaele has found a kindred spirit in sano. their shared love of classic dance music and refusal to let genre or convention define their work makes mxu a natural home for the “sunset ep,” coming as it does on the heels of the category-smashing “oyama edit” 12” and a 7” of drum track edits by disco king danny krivit.

finally available on wax, cv313 s classic -lost sequence- culled from the celebrated japan exclusive -live- double cd album released back in 2009. this was lovingly remastered by bazza @ alchemy mastering in london, paying close attention to every finite detail. this master has never sounded so good. on the b side there s a rare live version performed by intrusion at a loft event put on by the good folks over @ little white earbuds. this rare recording was reduced and stripped down, core traces of the original swim inside oceanic bass, and modulating frequencies creating an atmosphere all of its own. this is one for the heads.

amir alexander s anthology one brings together 4 of his most in demand tacks spread out over 3 ep s onto one 12 inch compilation. necessary sanctuary has proven to be an instant classic since it s quiet and humble release 5 years ago. only 200 copies were made with 150 ever making it to the stores, by the time people knew about it, it wasn t available anymore. that is,until now. both tracks are included. the original mix and the 3 am dub. also included is the universe from his deep vibes released outsider music ep, as well as the lovely transcend for amir s first full solo ep on machining dreams. both universe and transcend were given a fresh mixdown, and all 4 have been remastered at hard groove mastering uk. this is the first of what will be an ongoing series for collectors, dj s, serious archivists.
