support comes from d julz, miss joles, paul woolford, rob melo, satoshi tomiie, james flavour, tommy four seven and many more... on the a side, the original’s non-stop drive taps into the hidden house music adrenal glands to deliver a pure, unabashed banger. driving, sexed up, non-stop sweat inducing action. on the flip, gusgus attack the original with their warehouse of analog machines - simulta-neously extracting the essential groove of the track but infusing it with their own icelandic party freak show. minimal, maximal or whatever you want to call it, it’s a gem and one of gusgus’ finest remixes to date.

the kazey & bulldog picture disc is followed by the first d2s release from our hero rod lee - a baltimore legend in his own right and in our eyes the no. 1 club producer, bar none. this super aggro dude has serious issues. he just needs to open his mouth and kids cry flames. for his first d2s release, rod commits re-mastered versions of two of our favourite cuts produced by the man. we first heard >understand< when we scored a bunch of scottie bs ebay auctions, and to this day its one of the best baltimore tracks ive ever heard. you can play this sh*t anywhere and the crowd just freaks out. hip hop heads love it, techno heads love it, even your girlfriend loves it. we coupled it with rods simple but ultra effective remix of the eurythmics classic, >sweet dreams<. when the catch an attitude tour dropped in on our club in glasgow, a-trak dropped this beast for all of 30 seconds and people went nuts. bannanas even. you could argue that the eurythmics remix thing is overdone and outdated, but if you did so, wed know for sure you hadnt heard rods version. anyway... we tracked it down and got it on the flip, so really this is more like a double a. both cuts are re-mastered (but still raw like the day they were made) and cut loud on heavy 12inch vinyl
daniel sanchez aka mr. mumbling is yet to show its more tech-e side, in collaboration with e contact as >gimmikk<. plays by richie hawtin, marco carola, adam beyer, paco osuna, 2000 and one. >poppop< is a driven minimal techno groover with a slight italian flavor.

the track >uhlenbusch< shows the minimalistic, but playful side of the duo consisting of the dj ron schatte and producer christian haberer. clapping hands groove along with flabbily vocals. the bassline winds everything to the basics of electronic music put in a new robe. incl. a fabrikat remix by jay la forge (deep in rhythm/schieber) and a flatmate remix by asferico. the fabrikat remix has the power and straightness to be played primetime on the mainfloor of your favorite techno club. in the flatmate remix, asferico strips the original version down to its meer fragments to create a cool and gripping piece of minimal music. an awesome sound experience that makes the record a captivating label debut.
after unleashing the celebrated bare fist edits on us, the mysterious monsieur gateaux is back with a stunning original production. much is being made of the cosmic revival, and sure enough this does tick all the mid tempo, blissed out balearic boxes, but theres much more to love about dune, with its spacious ways and early 80s european electronic, dubbed out psychedelic vibe, shot through with a little eastern promise. its little wonder its been receiving major props from the bearded elders of sit down djing, off the back of a handful of early copies surfacing in the uk. as if that wasnt enough, the (not so) mysterious phoreski taken over the remix duties here!!!

kicking off 2008 with something fresh and new from a brand new signing to the label. first up this year on re:connect is a full on vocal led breaks monster from the genius pairing of australians karl sav and nikita. the original version is up first, a full-vocal affair with crisp but meaty beats, a tasty buzzing bassline, and searing synth lines. remaining a little more laid back to start with, this one builds and builds throughout and is certainly one to get the ladies moving on the dancefloor. on the flipside comes a stomping 4×4 remix from fellow australian dopamine who strips back the vocal to its main elements, adds a pounding beat and twisting bassline to great effect. this ones for all you crossover breaks/house fans out there!

at the forefront of the new wave of german techno, p.toile and her co-producer alexander krueger (aka tigerskin, aka dub taylor) have created a jittery, bubbly bomb without a piano in sight. propelled by chopped up vocals and rolling snares, >piano piano< conjures up images of an 18-wheeler chugging down a lonely highway on a rainy night, receiving fractured instructions over a faulty cb radio. midway through the track, ethereal pads pierce through the darkness. the rain stops, the clouds part, and the melodic percussion hammers back in. sven tasnádi has dominated cargo editions recent release schedule with his own unique productions as well as collaborations with daniel stefanik, so we are understandably excited about his first contribution to mothership. svens >adventsfrequenz rimüxx< pulls us even deeper, exploring >piano pianos< main chords from a percolating underwater world. a steadily building groove unfurls majestically on the ocean floor, punctuated by rolling congas and sudden crashes, as if a hurricane raged on the waters surface
