world beyond ist die neueinspielung von erasures letztjährigem album world be gone in einem post-klassischen gewand. es wurde in nur zehn tagen von andy bell und sieben musikerinnen des brüsseler echo collectives eingespielt. die idee zum album entwickelte vince clarke, der zunächst vorgeschlagen hatte eine single von world be gone in einem größeren rahmen einzuspielen. im gespräch mit dem echo collective formte sich allerdings schnell die idee, das gesamte album neu zu interpretieren. produktion und arrangement lagen in den händen des echo collective, den mix besorgte gareth jones. reflektierte world be gone in einem größeren maße als zuvor die aktuelle lage der welt, ohne dabei freilich hoffnungslos zu werden, offenbaren die neueinspielungen eine neue dimension der stücke, die man so nicht vermutet hättet. pressung auf rotem vinyl, downloadcode inklusive.

silver eye entstand in zusammenarbeit mit einer ganzen reihe an mitstreitern: john congleton, dem grammy-dekorierten produzenten von st. vincent, john grant und wild beasts. dem elektronischen klangpionier bobby krlic alias the haxan cloak (björk). dem brian eno-kollaborateur leo abrahams. den finalen album-mix besorgten schließlich david wrench (the xx, fka twigs, caribou) und daniel miller. die ersten beiden singles sind anymore und systemagic. wer den klassischen opulenten goldfrapp-sound sucht, dem sei das finale mit ocean besonders ans herz gelegt.

limitierte wiederveröffentlichung des 1995er albums als 180g schwere vinyl-edition. nach dem moby über nacht mit seinem track go die techno-szene mit einem der großen hits dieser phase versorgte und schnell zwei compilations mit frühwerken des künstlers auf den markt geworfen wurden, sollte everything is wrong sein erstes richtiges album werden. frisch bei dem label mute unter vertrag, zeigte sich moby musikalisch erstaunlich facettenreich. auf der einen seite stehen dancefloor-hymnen wie das überdrehte -feeling so real oder die single every time you touch me, auf der anderen seite überraschte moby mit ambient und filigranem pop. when its cold id like to die mit gast-sängerin mimi goese klingt ganz so als würde moby die frühwerke des labels 4ad (cocteau twins, dead can dance) außerordentlich schätzen. mit dieser varianz nimmt er seinen weiteren werdegang voraus, bei dem er noch häufiger überraschen sollte.

ab sofort ist das aktuelle apparat-album krieg und frieden (music for theatre) auch als schwarzes vinyl!
für sascha ring a.k.a. apparat ist klangforschung auch immer gefuehlserkundung. auf sieben alben und diversen maxis hat der in berlin lebende lockenschopf einen facettenreichen, emotionalen kosmos entwickelt. jetzt ist er mit dem soundtrack für tolstois theaterstueck >krieg und frieden<, welches fuer die ruhrfestspiele in recklinghausen von sebastian hartmann inszeniert wurde, zurueck!

somewhat of a metaphor for britain, welcome to goon island is born from the great british art school tradition, the core of the band having met at art college in sothend, vivid, interesting, expansive and far-reaching, an aesthetic that seeps into everything they do from their other-worldly videos via intriguing photos to extra curricular activities such as training dogs to dance. yet such apparent frippery shouldn t disguise their uncanny ability to pen rather fine songs, as welcome to goon island attests.
