politics of dancing continue to expand their horizons with another round of collaborative wares on their p.o.d cross sublabel. once again they ve invited big hitters who slip perfectly into the minimal house mindset the parisian label has been locked in since 2013, leading with cab drivers on the a side. the deep-diving german mainstays gel with the pod crew in a tightly clipped but utterly funked up roller, sitting in contrast to the more open, tripped out synth flourishes sebo k brings to the table on side b. with each track distinctive but also compatible, there s every chance you ll be compelled to play both out at the late night / early morning shuffled-up jamboree.

fast-moving times, in which popularity and quality are often equated or commonly confused with one another, aids and abets this imitation game some call conformity, others professionalism. in the end, both paths will end up in predictability. heres where stathis kalatzis, aka mr. statik, comes to play. the resident at athens’ multi-purpose cultural space six d.o.g.s has not only been one of the scenes pivotal figures, but since he started to release his first solo releases in the mid-00s, the now berlin-based greek dj has earned a reputation for being a trend-ignoring, unconventional producer. whether his output for bpitch control, rotary cocktail, or even last years debut ep rogue cherub for away mr. statik enjoys thinking outside the box by crossing his diverse pop-cultural interests and pulling in expertise and perspective from beyond the usual functional formulas. after a decade of not staying in one comfort zone or sticking to one musical direction, he finds himself more comfortable in his producer shoes presenting his debut album metamorphose. housing a few film references in this for mr. statik typical nebulous fashion, the ten tracks not only carrying the narrative potential of an imaginary score, but primarily exploring a versatile array of influences, themes, and contradictions (which mr. statik as an illustrator also united on the albums artwork). ranging from the sci-fi infused album opener insomnia, the first non-dancefloor piece he ever produced around 7 years ago, over?
after 5 years from their last album released on bosconi records, the clover’s trio comes back on their own label with a three track ep dedicated to the dance floor.
quantized tribalism melts with jupiter’s sounds in “pulsing particles”. while in “emanation”, past and present feelings alternate through chants and synthesizers sitting on a solid funky groove.
“separated at birth” is the theme of the b-side, the minimalism of the original track is stretched by horror inc. (aka akufen, perlon) in a rare 9 minutes melodic drone with broken beat and thriller-ish like strings. a gem you can’t miss!
the clover are back on the market, ready to play with a brand new liveset!
politics of dancing records releases the third number of their famous p.o.d edits series. quite a line up on this one, with shonky, franck roger, 2vilas and john jastszebski reworking some house classics and underground gems. a weapon for your crate not to be missed.
for those that knoe delves deeper into the archives once more to repackage a bundle of hard to find cuts on vinyl that have been staple supplies in ben s record bag over the years. the early to mid 2000s was a period of minimal techno overload, finding quality house music then was a challenge compared to today. rather than follow the herd, some european producers took influence from the original minimal pioneers and fused those approaches with house music themes in order to push a unique sound of the era. they turned minimal on its head and gave took it in a different direction. canson from switzerland released a handful of records between 2002 and 2005 that were a prime example of this aesthetic. stripped back beats with syncopated melodies - perfect cuts for those early sets or hazy morning sessions. the three tracks featured on this compilation were originally released on two solo eps for canson: itsudemo and holiday plug in, both of which have claimed squatter s rights in my record bag for almost 15 years. i don t think i ve played one early slot or house set without one of them. this record is quite a personal one for me as it s a representation of my deeper sound as a dj. now the original records are a little hard to find so im so glad to share my choice picks of cansons material on a my label.
this new signatune various artist ep is something special to have in anybody s record collection! it starts off with a cosmic and trippy tune by timo called pilar , followed by ravisher an excellent warm up tune by romanian loy. litmus comes back on the label with shoelace a bouncy minimal beat guaranteed to get tired feet up dancing, and hyacin closes the ep perfectly with hayzy
british dj/producer bearface has been on a bit of a roll of later. aside from releases on his own beartone label, the london-based label owner has also found time to deliver outstanding cuts to the likes of exploited ghetto, which housed his last release, the wonderful moon . this time around, he comes correct on his own beartone label with a record that s notable for its quirky demeanour and undoubted eclecticism. opening up the release is the sounds of mumbai nights . although it gets us underway in fairly innocuous fashion, it quickly finds its feet thanks to a brilliant, whaling indian-inspired vocal that weaves in and out throughout. a whimsical track of that sort that s sure to be a hit with more daring djs, it s an auspicious start to a release that s never lacking in personality. as is his forte, bearface then goes much deeper in search of kicks on data storm , taking us taking us down the rabbit hole to a place that s full of enticing oddities throughout. after this, the frankly bonkers sound of the electro-leaning title track sista take centre stage. a thoroughly intense peak-time workout, it s full of attitude and an indication of the producer s more gnarly and abrasive approach. all things considered, it s sure to get the night moving in an altogether different direction wherever it s unleashed. closing out the ep is the drum heavy sounds of march . a broody track that s tailor made for the night s more relentless moments, it s a a fitting way with which to sign off an eclectic and dizzying release. the latest chapter in the beartone story is a captivating listen throughout.
introducing the debut 12” by miami duo sons of immigrants. for their first release on amam, the un_mute residents deliver a fresh melange between acid jazz, minimal and house. combining old school analog hip hop beats and samples with trippy vocals, raw percussions, deep chords and jazzy basslines, makes the trademark sound of soi.
befog takes con into a deeper underwater dimension with an outstanding remix.
ultra cult classic tracks heaven/c mon massively played the last years everywhere in the world by ricardo villalobos, raresh, derrick may, dj harvey & boo williams comes up on the b side with paris traxx 3 remixed by the great frederico grazzini from unusual suspect fame
dj koze might be one of the worlds best producers, but above all hes a dj, and it’s his dj ear that governs. just as in a great set, so with his releases: seeing aliens came out of nowhere, a big buzzing beast of a track, to announce that koze was back on the scene and prime everyone for the coming album, knock knock. but now that koze has your attention, it’s time to remind everyone what’s most important about club music, pull things back, take a turn to the left, and get deep into the groove. thus pick up: the second single from knock knock is 100% pure groove, doubly so in the extended 12inch version. in a sense its incredibly familiar it is essentially a filter disco record, very close to something you could imagine coming out of paris around the turn of the millennium. but of course, this is koze. nothing is normal or familiar in his world, and hes taken this most foundational of clubland staples into new territory
doubtingthomas returns to organic for his 3rd vinyl release !!! he has been part of the family since day one and never disappoints with that signature sound that is so proper to him ¡! kicking off with “puffed dandy” a stellar stripped back minimalist cut that should make some proper damage on the dance floor . on the flit side, “diapason” is slightly deeper and jazzier, but yet with that distinctive and infectious groove signed dt. “passing tone” is closing the ep nicely. classy atmospheric textures and depth , a real treat for the after hours !
the second of alma negras 12 rhythms series is dedicated to the maloya sound from la réunion, a tiny island where a melting pot of cultures is reflected strongly in its music. maloyas roots go back to the time of slavery, its quick tempo and raw energy making it not only a popular dance music but also a powerful protest through movement. on their maloya ep, the basel collective pay tribute to the hypnotic rhythms that were feared both by the catholic church and the french government for the musical forms subversive part in the rebellion against colonialism.
as part of the ten-year anniversary dekmantel presents the final record in a ten-part-ep series. split into two parts due to its immensity, the final instalment is a re-issue of tony allens asiko (in a silent mix) originally released in 1999 and remixes by motor city drum ensemble and ricardo villalobos. the first part features a grandiose 29-minute ricardo villalobos version of the afrobeat masters cut. a true collaboration of giants.having been a regular at the festival for several years now, villalobos delivers a remix, one of his longest to date, that only he can produce. allowing the percussion to breathe into a monumental rhythm, villalobos warps the vocals, restructuring the bass and drums into a rolling dub-fusion of techno that is characteristic of his remixes to date, yet still breathtaking in its execution. afrobeat-minimalism, with dub-infused fire, and near psychedelic ambience that perfectly synchs the worlds of tony allen, and ricardo villalobos, two legends who’ve helped re-shape the face of music. highlighting the diversity of sounds that have come to represent the dutch label and festival series, the eps to date have encompassed a range of artists and genres, featuring label favourites, as well as whole bunch of debuting artists. the ep series kicked off in march 2018, and over the course of a year featured the likes of gigi masin, lena willikens, burnt friedman, donato dozzy, the egyptian lover, palms trax, and more.
gitanes is olde gods new ep and longest output to date. following a series of singles on the minor planets label, the barcelona duo are up to a 12inch four-tracker on amsterdams atomnation. gitanes brings echoes from spains not-long gone golden club era. its cover depicts an abandoned club from the 90s in a coastal town in the mediterranean, could be anywhere from valencia to barcelona. all four tracks are trippy yet solid-grounded, spacey voices and strings leads all flying up and magically suspended over gross rhythmical foundations. dear cz, a fetiche track, built around a moody casio cz synth stab topped up with acid videogame-like crazyness. gitanes brings entrancing vocals intertwined with more cz pad action. all around is a foggy and paranoid late-night drive, and none of these bitches, a homesick folks walk around tokyos daikanyama area. olde gods are jmii and guillamino
surely one of the most famous song that franck produced in his entire career.. the combination between him and mandel turner (naturally born in usa) was explosive the day they created this songin avery naive and uncalculated way .it all started from a beat on a mpc with a minimal hook and a bassline.. franck called his long time friend mandel turner to join him in his studio and explained him that the idea was not to do a classic garage song but to make it in a modern way. the result was to work on a strong chorus without verses etc .that we can found on every classic songs. we gived a demo track to appolonia guys wich were in ibiza starting their new residency at dc10 and it has been played the whole summer and all clubbers in ibiza knew this song and became a underground hit when it came out.. franck asked to his close friends (seuil etc..) and producers to give another interpretation of this song because he knew that his friends loved already this song.. so they gave to this song a new life few month later after the success of the original release. today we got ion one wax different versions of this song for different time to be played and different audiences.

kanja records is sincerely honored to present its sixth vinyl release, based on a concept called sunday mornings. with this series of releases we will focus on that warm up, early morning, after party gems and slowly fading away from peak time music. our philosophy behind this concept is that the focus goes to the tracks being timeless, and music that you can listen to in every time of day and night. music that offers a vast variety, but in the end coming together in that sweet and warm morning glory. bidon by university of nowhere was definitely our first pick for the first track on this release. nice warm pads and steady broken beats are becoming a trademark for their production. astral control by maurice giovannini perfectly sits beside our opening track with its laid back mood and again nice moody pads. insen gathway by widovski, an opening track on our b side, with nice minimalistic grooves, warm pads and freaky background ticks, surely deserves a spot on this release. defenders of prisma by gabriele carasco and enzo pietropaolo is the final track on this vinyl release. a really special track, which has a very mysterious and sentimental vibe and nicely rounds up our sixth release.
the imprint of the french man lazare hoche returns with some super hot cuts
little is known about medicis, other than he last appeared back in 2015 on lazare hoche alongside voltery. on this, his second 12-, he strikes out on his own for the parisian deep house stable with some of that refined, head-tweaking groove fodder that has broadly defined the label since it started. -vilaroel- features shimmering tones that call to mind point g at his dubbiest, while -dissfreq- takes a sweeter route into dreamy pads and lightly shuffling drums. -carrier- is a darker, techier affair with plenty of hypnotic elements spinning in the mix, and then mdecisi old friend voltery lands a hand on the downtempo delights of -guda-.
we are very exited to present you a fresh and sharp ep from julien wich is a big fan of the label since the beginning.. today we got the best of his music.julien sandre makes its debut on french, classy label home invasion with a 4-tracks ep, wrapped in elegance and charm but at the same time rich of kiiller grooves and energy between hypnotics synth associated with micro-house elements that will make you dance in clubs and will make you dream in the afters party.a side is the -deeply- part of the ep where restless looks perfect to move the floor with its fat rolling groove and tripping chords, title track serendipty express perfectly julien s sound of the moment: minimal drums & refined pads for a dreamlike journey to the start till the end.b side is more micro-house oriented.just make sense remind us about tracks of gold period of minimal of early 2000 s but updated to our days with a wild, floor killer beat & smooth stabs and effects. closing track autonoe looks perfect for after moments. minimal-jazzy drums imbued with hypnotic deep elements. maybe serendipty ep represents one of best julien s work, its route appears more mature than ever.
the people in fog are back on sov! as smooth sky blue colour cat can represent, this ep has a smoother beat than the artists usual style. if you remember their previous ep with a darker colour, now the punching kick and identical house bass are gone and this ep is true showing off the producer s ability as a musician who can adapt to any kind of diversity. the first track last song has deep bass and atmospheric sounds, like a typical romanian loop, but after the long trippy beat when the piano sounds kick in, the atmosphere changes and brings back the emotion. the second track get funky is also truly hybrid version of house, while the combination of funky vocals and the endless hi-hat and shaker keep the groove tight and the deep down pad sounds mixed smoothly with the forest of beat make for a truly a unique character. the last track alright is a very joyful one, even though it uses a typical funky house vocal sample. its unique way of playing percussion and vocal keep the groove totally all-right
acknowledged of red pig flower s obsession for the red color, the 10th cat by sound of vast could not be a different choice. red pig flower, known not only as a musician but also as an artist, prepared a special concept for each track in the box.

maria an organic piano-laden house track with a moody, ominous, misleading filtered start which flourishes into a feel-good house track with compelling whispering vocals and layered chords. got the taste zones in on the relentless groove with breathless vocal stabs and unforgiving deepness which conforms to a simplistic affable approach. rounding up the ep is maria remixed by berlin based producer beaner the la mission label head serves up a trippy off kilter-creation with a clever contrast to the original.
