12" Vinyl D12.03.18
lillygood party! is a label focused on licencing tracks that alex and stephane play for years at their parties. the aim is to re-edit and revisit those jams from soul to house . jazz to afro. boogie to techno and make us and people enjoy and smile on the dancefloor because those tunes are really really good both tracks here are classics dancefloors tunes. nothing rare. just favourite tunes that alex and stéphane play in their sets. on the a side the onwards international version is longer than the original and the arrangement quiet different for more intense dancefloor action. here they both worked on the edit to find the right balance and the right sound in order to revisit the uk classic jazz funk number. a firm favourite here lillygood! the b side is an amazing disco modern soul gospel track from elbernita twinkie clark already reissued some time ago but the cherry on the cake is that you have here a 12inch version extended and a new mastering for extra loud play this version is slightly different than the original. alex extended parts: the beginning with drum intro looped for mixing and changed the end to make it longer keeping the original flavour. please enjoy as much as we do because we love those edits. we love those tunes. we love music we are very happy to share with you these limited vinyls releases
arkansas native. lee moore moved to memphis in 1975 with only one goal in mind: to make it big in the music industry and to release music that would be played in new york. l.a and everywhere in between. as a singer and songwriter lee moore spent the 1980s collaborating in memphis with the best of the best session musicians and vocalists from labels like volt and stax records to record and release futuristic boogie. soul. and funk. lee moore unfortunately never got close to reach his goals of fame and fortune. for the first time. past due records is reissuing lees incredible free & easy lp which was only released as a handful of test pressings in 1981 because lee thought the record was too good to release on his score records label. it is a pure memphis modern soul / boogie funk masterpiece that features countless artists from the stax crew. al greens vocalists and even herbie hancocks keyboard player. the 1981 test pressing has commanded huge sums of money on the used vinyl market and is one for the real soul connoisseur
a new year means new musical horizons here at the bordello. curses formed his sound in the distortion and sweat of back alley dive bar bars amidst the crash of guitars and the audible gulp of beer. hints of disco and wave balance this rougher edge. smoothing down those creased lines for a style that adheres to no boundaries. -pedal to the metal and don t look back- is a perfect introduction to curses multifaceted sound. beats orbit burbling bass and brash strings in a work of dreamy hypnotics. -knife in teeth- comes from a similarly shadowy lair. dark bars are further inked by industrial percussion in a track born on the factory floor to strict ebm parents. terr takes on -pedal to the metal and don t look back- and does the original proud. bass rumbles to the tune of a guttering engine before lighter notes take hold. murky currents are cleared by bright synth blasts in this uplifting remake. the bird of paradise closes the ep with his psychedelic take on -knife in teeth.- drums take on a more sinister tone as tribal rhythms give rise to jungle imagery and the immediate threat of what might lurk behind those supposedly innocent sounds.
amsterdam-based duo dj windows xp provide the next ep for live ones. serving up apple infused. sample driven rhythms that ll pop cherries you never knew you had. the pair have previously offered provoking selections on dj haus imprint e-beamz and the amsterdam based who s susan to high acclaim. the biggest contradiction is that none of their music is actually produced on a windows computer - and quite rightly so. what will come next from the duo depends entirely on whether they finally decide to perform that software update.

new addition to shir khan s disco series: welcome t.u.r.f. t.u.r.f. are two dutch friends. dj s and producers joined by their love of old records from a wide range of genres. last year they released their debut ep on apparel music. which got support from artists like roy davis jr. soul of hex. frits wentink. black loops and many others. after such an amazing start. they are very excited to take their music into new directions with this new ep for black jukebox. consisting of three diverse tracks that will bring the feel good vibes back to the club.
those wizards of digging psychemagik doing the business once again. hot on the heels of last year s monstrous gotta hold on me / wildman they re letting folks know that they were still out there searching in the darkest recesses of the last 40+ years of popular and unpopular music. and boy oh boy are they good at it! the trip lives up to it s name. the track kicks off with some ultra beefed up psychedelic shenanigans. swirling. cacophonous sounds whirl and sweep and gradually drag us into the holographic tunnel. gradually giving way to some heavyweight drums and percussions and unfurling into a muscular psych-discoid beast. this one will send the kids crazy and will undoubtedly cause some damage in the club. both sonically and mentally. but what is the original? we hear you say... answers on a postcard please. sisters of the moon on the flip-side is a very different animal - all laid back. laconic steel-guitars and thundering slo-mo drums and percussion. the dark side of a rural witchcraft dream exposed here. almost menacing... and then? those vocals spring out of the mix amidst the throbbing sexually charged atmosphere and drag us back into the realm of near reality with sultry moans and groans. this one s woozy alright. but in the best possible way. so wrong. it s right and possibly the natural soundtrack to too many of those strange shots that that guy in the weird hat gave us earlier when we entered that country pub. what guy? i hear you ask.... ultimate freak-disco and deepest druid funk for the discerning and psychedelically inclined record consumer.

andrew scott. aka nyak. scott has remained a consistent representative of the music scene and we re delighted to have him on board for the first release of 2018 on local talk. bound ep. we re treated to four tracks. the opening track bound is a cut up. soulful disco house slammer. next up we got dancing. a perfect example of andrew s skill when it coms to slowing down the tempo but still letting the track have enough character to keep you dancing. on the flip we got see more which takes you straight to a dark and gritty club with it s stuttering chords. tight drums and pulsing bass. last but not least we got sandwiches which features long time collaborator ian blevins. a stunning low deep groove for any theo parrish or marcellus pittman fans out there.

four tracks of ny-flavoured boogie and house goodness - quality is the key word from copenhagen based music for dreams and here is another home run. willie graff splits his year between dj residencies in new york and ibiza. in this new outing with studio partner darren eboli. the influence is. as the title suggests. clearly ny-based. over only four tracks. the pair manage to craft a stunningly comprehensive exploration of the essential elements of dance music. opening track -love flight- staggers into a lush string-driven groove that recalls the glory of metro area meets wally badarou vibes. minimal yet playful. it lounges somewhere in the depths of the house tradition. calling on familiar sounds while throwing in odd details along the way (harmonicas?). it takes both skill. devotion and a sense of humor to pull this track off. making for a strong opening. -moon tan- lingers on a metallic hook that drags you into a plethora of percussion followed by a rubbery soft baseline. dubby key work would suggest this was a new wave band jamming at compass point. while the icy chill of the xylophone transports you into 80s italo territory. -second sun- pulls out the bag of boogie tricks. relying on a firm but humble baseline and smattering drum machine claps. nile rodgers-style guitar licks guide us onwards into a well-orchestrated jam that builds up and breaks down with perfect timing while dreamy chords reach for the sky. -first light- keeps the groove tight while dipping over towards more balearic temperatures. steeped in a watery atmosphere and gentle organic percussion. it focuses in on a trance-inducing arpeggio that lulls you in to the swaying badarou-style synth swirls that intercept it.

milan. italy. 1983. in the midst of the 80s economic boom. which gave an injection of optimism after the heavily political 70s. a group of young local musicians meet every night in a basement to rehearse and record a peculiar breed of italian disco music. originated from the ashes of various other projects. and rooted in the broader jazz-funk tradition. the group creates music which is equally inspired by contemporary fusion as well as by the first wave of the italo-disco sound. over approximately 3 years the band has recorded and played live. until the dismantling of the project towards the mid 80 s. fast forward 35 years and the genuinely mediterranean flavor of qvark s demo recordings are still enjoyable. both for the actual resurgence of the italian disco tradition and for the groovy quirkiness of a project which has been too long forgotten. after an intense work of audio restoration of such tapes. heavily affected by time. early sounds is pleased to present a compilation which is an important find to define the sound of late 70 s and early 80 s italian club sound.-

a leftfield haven. happy at home on the fringe where boundaries blur and textures intertwine. it was only a matter of time before jennifer cardini and noura labbanis dischi autunno imprint featured the bewitching sounds of mehmet aslan. following outstanding documents from dollkraut and the magic ray. berlin-based swiss-turk mehmet makes his label debut with four singular works of art. alysha takes the lead 22nd century desert funk with sand storm atmospheres. mushroom clouds of slide guitar and a hefty dose of blues. it sets us perfectly for the rest of the ep. elsewhere were sucked deep inside the dream machine in slo-mo as beasts lollops and thumps with warped insistency. we have the stately swampy cosmic stomps and trippy breakdown surprise of exotica before a collaboration with uk kindred spirit jonny rock closes the show with a sense-blurring psychedelic tagine of interlaced hooks and the tangiest riff this side of istanbul. beguiling business as always from dischi autunno.
beware. discomatin is back. in 2018. the parisian crew of diggers and dj’s originally known for their edits goes official with fully licensed and remastered reissues. for this new adventure. they chose an incredible in-demand french boogie ep from diva. an eighties funk band from bordeaux. diva only released one ep with la nuit. a sentimental. almost poetic boogie banger with great synth. guitar and vocal parts. the track could honestly have been a radio hit in the eighties with some real promotion. today. it’s still time to make it right and it is already an anthem in the french underground disco scene. originally on the b side of the 1985 original release on cactus. la nuit is here available with its two different versions (12inch and 7inch mix) and comes also with prise au piege. a more synth-pop influenced funk track which gave its name to the original release. the band was formed by gabrielle andriampanana. alex louisor and olivier renoir. before diva. these last two already played together in the local new-wave band bolton which was one of the first of the area to use synthetisers. even if they had a small recognition at the time. the original release stood quite underground. thanks to discomatin. its now available to the real connoisseurs and still with the fantastic illustrations of french artist camille de cussac on the back cover.
