obwohl die letzte kompakt-offerte aus dem studio der legendären russichen synthesizeristen scsi-9 schon eine weile zurückliegt – 2008, um genau zu sein, mit dem album “easy as down” (kompakt cd 068) -, hat co-gründer und techno/house-virtuose anton kubikov nicht auf der faulen haut geaalt, sondern sein eigenes label pro-tez records gepflegt – und eine karriere als solo-künstler mit klarem drang zur verdubbten tonlandschaft und ambient-musik in die wege geleitet. whatness ist seine erste solo-album-veröffentlichung unter eigenem namen und webt einen luftigen wie schillernden klangteppich, der genau da weitermacht, wo kubikovs exzellente beiträge zu unserer pop ambient compilation-reihe aufgehört haben. anton kubikovs besonderes ohr für ambientes und tonale räume war schon immer integraler bestandteil von scsi-9s musikalischer dna, die gerne zwischen fokussierter tanzathletik und ausufernden melodieräumen changiert – doch erst als solo-künstler macht er sich daran, diese räume wirklich auszuloten und geheimnisvollen klangspuren in neblige, hallende gegenden zu folgen. kubikovs gastspiele auf mehreren ausgaben unserer pop ambient-serie deuteten auf ein vielverprechendes neues projekt im talentpool hin – ein versprechen, das mit dem mitreissenden klangbad von whatness mehr als erfüllt wird.

here is the debut release from the new label losers with attitude, a four track compilation we have nothing left to lose-that demonstrates the range of sounds you can expect from us in coming releases. the label is the brain child of aleksey ageyev, a successful la based film and tv producer in who was born in moscow before moving to nyc at age of 16. he has teamed up with his old friend jason szostek of serotonin/schmer records to explore the electronic sounds that emanate from the dmz between house and techno. alexi delano needs no introduction as part of the swedish techno mafia that took over new york techno scene in the 90s delano has been pumping out tracks that have keep dancefloors moving world wide. delano brings his awesome sense of groove to the opening track a.l.n. mike bryant is a well known dj in the new york city underground since he came from the midwest in the mid 90s. he s the label head for intrinsic design. with his a new low moniker he sets out on a dark and soulful journey in sound. lwa labelhead and prototype 909 member jason bpmf szoste s starts side b with a sprawling chill soundscape sunrise on mars from his abide the glide series of digital releases. legendary russian electronic music pioneer anton kubikov is famous for his acid adventures in scsi 9, his label pro-tez records and randomart store in prague. here he has given us a moody acid groove named we have a bridge to close out the compilation.

following the success amongst the appreciators of all things deep, dark, and dubby, and the inclusion into 30 releases of 2014, supported by rhadoo, petre inspirescu and raresh, anton kubikov returns to elusive with even more spacey sound!

corda ep is anton kubikov’s second solo release on pro-tez records. its a sultry, padded ep that makes use of a slowed-down template before covering it in swathes of dub pads and a pulsating square bass lines - reminding of an imaginary midnight sound jam between maurizio and larry heard. it is a robust and propulsive release for all dub techno heads. anton is emerging once again with his own utterly individual dub emissions with a touch of proper minimalism to it. available as 180 gram vinyl only release.

anton kubikov (half of scsi-9 duo) returns to mayak with a tripy two-tracker. strictly analog hardware polished by his talent delivered great groove. in is a classic house track with some acidelic touch, that will make crowd dance for whole 10 minutes, while out is a deep dub dive.

young siberian producers ivachev & rubikoff from yekaterinburg deliver a fresh dance track for maraca music. the b side is a pier bucci rework on headlova, a more casual and free version for the late night or when the early mornings suns rises.
