after first appearing on the label back in 2016, florence-based italo house stalwarts minimono return to vibraphone with another selection of illustrious dancefloor gems for subtler moments in the dance. oldest friend is an airy, dreamlike track laden with upper register chords, tones and fx pinging around in a reverie of deep house delight, while questions- gets locked into a loose, swinging groove with some mysterious pads swirling around the middle distance for added atmosphere. some day is a more rugged affair that bumps and wriggles in all the right places, while eleven days explores broken beat territory without losing the hazy atmosphere that permeates the ep.

finally the third release for red rooster records. like the second one, we are talking about a various artists e.p.: minimono (fabio della torre and ennio colacci) is an italian duo born in florence in 1997. in 2008 fabio and ennio founded their own label -bosconi records- where they released their first album in 2010. now minimono works with robsoul records, vibraphone and other very good label from all over the world. dj rou is parts of the project called homequest, a real crew of artists made in bologna, we can also find his music on robsoul jazz, bosconi extra virgin or flexi cuts. memoryman aka uovo is one of the famous pastaboys, he has a long story that starts with the label manocalda, he worked with a lot of big artists from the main house scene and he did a lot of records with the bests labels. d’arabia, class 1991, is the owner of red rooster records and this is the third release for him, surely not the last.

after “theory of strings (part1)” ennio colaci and fabio della torre present the second part! the first track of a-side is the one who gives the title to the whole project, - theory of strings-, a dubby groover with a funky and psychedelic feel in the vein of a more coloured and dirtier studio 1 or soundhack. the -feeling good vibe- keeps going relaxed and chill with the smart up and down mood of the track -forty degrees- while on b side minimono get drier, minimalistic and more mysterious with the subtle after-hour jam of rewind. this strong effort by fabio and ennio ends trough the cinematic atmosphere and the romantic piano notes of the gentle but raw closing act -still mine-. mind the strings!

few can fail to have noticed the re-emergence of italian deep house in recent times. tracks paying tribute to the dreamy, loved-up and new age-influenced style pioneered by italian producers in the late 80s and early 90s are ten-a-penny these days, though few are quite as breezy and evocative as this ep from minimono. the fact that it s appearing on re-born rome label vibraphone - dormant since 1993, but brought back to life late last year - is rather fitting. the duo s dreamy, melodious and tactile style - see the fluttering synthesized flute lines and tactile grooves of -sailing-, the horizontal house bliss of -suspend-, and the ron trent style slickness of -next step- - is perfectly in keeping with the label s wavy, sun-kissed ethos.

following the well acclaimed comeback on bosconi -gang of fools ep- and the releases on robsoul and vibraphone, fabio della torre and ennio colaci aka minimono strike again with a double release that might be considered as a split album in 2 vinyl records named -theory of strings-.first of two eps starts with the chuggy, jazzy and edgy vibe of -get the groove-, an intelligent partial rework of an underground disco-not-disco old gem. second cut gets more funky-filtered, bouncing and suspended with the fresh broken atmosphere of -back in dc- .on the b side fabio and ennio go back to jazziness adding more broken grooves, some twisted rhodes solo goodness and a persistent hypnotic driving feel to the track -actually-, and then ending this first part with another smooth filtered and toolish winner for the summer called meningi. mind the strings and wait for the second part!
