skinny pelembe corrals together a cast of talented friends for his new ep. it’s his most ambitious release to date, boasting a different group or artist featuring on each of its tracks, each of them an act he’s met through music or through linking with brownswood’s celebrated talent development programme future bubblers two years ago. across its four entries, he bridges hip-hop, psych-rock and jazz-influenced tangents, cutting out a diverse cross-section of the city’s music scene. it’s a document of the connections he’s made as an artist, and is the most collaborative project he’s worked on so far. the title of the ep comes from some advice which skinny noted to himself on an old notebook. each of its songs started as a rough idea which was then fleshed out and re-imagined with his collaborators.

evod music is glad to welcome binny and dj surgeles on its limited catalogue. the english dancefloor killer and the dutch sci-fi master fused perfectly together on this split ep. organic by binny is a perfect tool, thanks to its mesmerizing acid sequence, masterfully fused with powerful drum patterns and hypnotic drone raids. missing link is another killer tool, perfect for a dance floor full of people. its old school sound and the various changes make this track a must have. the b side is managed by dj surgeles, with three outstanding sci-fi tracks. science fiction contains a randomic, spaced out sequence blended with heavy drums and various drum patterns variations. commander pete is the most millsesque track: in this piece there is a real space ambience, thanks to a its far pads, the electronic ringings and bleep sounds incursions that create a constant suspense, broken by the interruption from an astronaut radio message. the ep is closed by message to earth, an ambient outro that fits perfectly with all the other tracks.

having recently signed to brownswood recordings, announced via new track ‘i’ll be on your mind’, skinny pelembe’s first single proper for the london imprint, ‘spit / swallow’ spans pastoral pop, psychedelic textures and hip-hop-tipped, chopped and spliced guitar, interlacings samples with rolling drum breaks and echoed falsettos. b-side ‘toy shooter’ follows in similar fashion, bridging psych-rock exaltation with beat-head, synth-jamming production.

after his two excellent maxis on dax js monnom black & ben sims symbolism, binny is back with the french zion-lyon guys from clft for a second release. four heavy-banger-outstandingtunes, this time. no place for remixes. if you wonder how it sounds like, lets say it is electronic body techno with a touch of cosmic-retroesque axis atmosphere but still some groove, nevertheless. 500 copies only.

dreams of the future reveal more about the mind of the dreamer than the future itself-. the third release of rome-based label suburban avenue consists of 3 original tracks from the liverpool-based producer binny and bouncing remix by zadig. -polymorph- and -i/o- are oldschool, direct techno bangers that draw influence from detroit and beyond. with its minimally acidic riff, -signal repeat- is the perfect counterbalance to these tracks and is reminiscent of robert hood s early productions. zadig s electric remix of -i/o- takes the core of the track and re-works it into a subtle, yet tough peak-time groover that will slot easily into any discerning techno dj s set.

ben sims symbolism continues apace with a release from binny, a liverpool-based producer dj otherwise known for some superb output as part of phantom planet outlaws. comprising three original tracks, the subtractive rhythm ep also takes in a remix from long-time sims collaborator and british techno legend, paul mac.

monnom black welcomes binny to the label. his mispress ep consists of 4 peak-time bombs, in classic binny style that he is known so well for. inspired from mills, surgeon and 90s techno with a modern day twist. absolutely essential and highly recommended!

the 30th release on the trunkfunk label comes from vinny villbass, one of the long-time driving forces behind the norwegian club scene. his two hot originals come with a remix from skancke and doc l junior.

liverpool s scenery records has been making a real splash over the last 18 months, delivering the kind of top notch, analogue-heavy deep house gear that invites comparisons with the best labels from vancouver, washington d.c and new york. there s plenty more to cheer on this label debut from liverpudlian producer binny, not least the immersive melodiousness, dancing synthesizers and rhythmic hustle of -retrospective-. chicago skyway delivers two impeccable rubs of that track, with the second - a new-age techno stomper built around beautiful synthesizer arpeggios and drum machine cowbells - standing out. flip for the glassy-eyed intelligent techno-meets-deep house thrills of -a moment in time-, which is also given a pulsating acid techno makeover from scenery veteran circular rhythms.

after taking a short break house of disco records are back with a purpose. not content with the adding to the plethora of disco edit labels representing the genre they have opted to walk a more distinct path, determined to lean on originals or clever sampling as opposed to outright re-rubs. in this their twelfth release they recruit previous label-mate harry wolfman and compadre skinny love to provide three stunning dancefloor ready originals. the duo have certainly delivered on the brief and turned in three diverse and clever takes on what a modern disco track with a house soul can represent. on remix duties they have recruited a promising young producer kickflip mike, who has released on box aus holz as joschka seibt and paired him with experienced disco merchant the revenge who is responsible for some of the best remixes we know of, and he doesnt disappoint here with either remix.

tekseven records. hailing from belfast n.ireland. the opening track orbit by tekseven is a trip into an off beat world of heavily laden beats, baselines, synths and sci-fi, evolving vocal lines seemingly sampled with precision from an old 50s t.v set somehow reminiscent of robert hood. the remix from uk artist binny continues along the sci-fi theme with a beautifully crafted ambient intro which turns into a thumping good retro feeling techno track! on the b-side teksevens atlas introduces us to some straight up no holds barred high quality light and shade techno that will loosen any dance floors rivets.last but not least is an excellent remix by mattias fridell verging more on the dub side of things with the deepest spacious bass that is a hallmark of his fine techno creations . all in all, a great first release from a brand new vinyl label. expect great things in the future.

after a short journey outta space, the militia strikes back on earth with its sixth reference! inspired by the 90s detroit scene, uk-based producer binny delivers here two fantastic weapons, full of millsian reminiscences, but still away from the hiss and swooshes. both destroyer & a function of time stay to the essential elements, combinating hardness and soul masterfully. on the b side, fundamental interactions remix as well as antigones reconstruction surprises with an unexpected u-turn. in fact, any techno addict will find his dose on this release.

the flatlife deep debut of liverpool-based artist binny, including remixes by oliver lieb & tim gaal. the oliver lieb remix of release is a pounding tech-house track based on the two major themes of the original and treated with the typical oliver lieb signature sound - peak-time material! the original version is a soulful and uptempo broken-beat detroit techno track. the journey once again takes you back to the motor city: a lush sounding pad sound is accompanied by a shuffled and funky rhythm track. the tim gaal remix slows it down and incorporates a retroish deep house feel. flatlife deep is run by jack wax (flatlife records) in cooperation with tim gaal (adepth audio), focusing on warm-sounding analogue techno music.
