its the big 5! berlin frankfurt based label house is ok is celebrating its five-year long presence and has decided to mark that period with something special labels story started with a sticker homeboy printed in his former hometown, zagreb, saying house is ok. catchy, right? it became an underground slogan of the local scene. it didnt take long for people to embrace the idea stating that its ok to be into melodic, fresh, groovy yet, at times, a bit awkward dance music. just around the same time homeboys frankfurt based bros oliver achatz and janis played with the idea of starting a record label. guess what the logical choice for the name was? ten records, dozens of original songs and remixes later house is ok continues to grow. literally. what was once a platform for the original three founders is now an international family affair supporting the talented artists from frankfurt, stockholm, alexandria and orlando. nurturing the friendly approach this musical family continues to grow. looking back at the first five years, not only at the music that connected them all but at the bonds that deepened through the production process, house is ok crew wanted to take create a proper reminder and thank the ones supporting them throughout the years. a double 12 pack titled gemišt seemed like a proper way to do that. „gemišt will be released as two separate eps featuring the original music from kornél kovacs, roman flügel, gavri & mcqueen, tcb, house of life and the label makers themselves. oliver and janis deliver tracks under their known names, while homeboy introduces his new project with fellow wilde renate resident the swift, called longhair. croatian artist ugruv smek marks his yearlong collaboration with the label delivering yet another smashing artwork.

new imprint ocd’s first release comes from portland native aaron carlson who, with his ac$ alias, has generated quite a buzz in underground circles of late, off the back of a few highly sought-after records. ‘do u know what u represent?’ is a slice of rolling tech-house that utilises vocal snippets amidst a flurry of 909 hats while the rhodes-laced ’more odds’ dials up the swing with a nod to early prescription releases. on the b side, ‘just like you’ is a more heady affair, seeing lazy chords sitting over a nebulous bassline and assorted weirdness, while the acid-tinged, atmospheric ‘organ morph’ is sure to find favour with fans of binh or nicolas lutz.

after 2 very remarkable releases, the french label pilbus records is back on the offensive with this ep highlighting another label team member : macsim ganczarczyk. macsims minimal style is clearly represented in his part one original mix, decorated with dark tones mixed with cavernous atmosphere, and rolling around a heavy bass filling entirely the soundspace. you can feel the same darkness in the second track of this part one ep: a remix made by the probably most well known argentinian producer: franco cinelli, who shows his talent by completely changing the style of the original mix.

facs & dylans label biotic was killing it a few years ago with their own personal take on dnb, after a four year break the label returns with a sure fire smasher. on the a facs >ghost< comes with old skool style beats, orchestral stabs and punishing bass while on the aa fon gives us a slab of dark and menacing riffs and power bass, both tracks will shake the system when playing, power tunes for the dance.

all good things go by three, brilliant third popnorama release! with his amazing remix for off pop on popn002, he introduces himself impressiv. his style is like made on mars. never before we heard such f*ckin great stuff! with his rough and reduced dirty finch he defies all them lovely melodies and set the point to the biiiiig basedrum. smash the voice and get up! the opposite of the original track comes from johjon, who is allready known by his great remixes for stil vor talent, dirt crew and heiko laux. he makes the >dirty finch< move on smooth minimal house vibes.
