we are proud to present the first ever vinyl issue of jon krocker’s debut album ‘monolog’ originally released on cassette in 1983. the 12 instrumental tracks are stark and minimal, at times anxious but overall space orientated and flexible. all songs are remastered for vinyl by george horn at fantasy studios in berkeley. each copy includes an 8-page newsprint zine featuring ephemera, press clippings, photos and liner notes by jon.

hans solo, frontmann der legendären hip hop formation ai-tiem legt bei seinem debut als solokünstler gleich eine dissertation ab. dissertation ist ein konzeptalbum und wird seinem namen gerecht, was die auseinandersetzung in vielerlei hinsicht angeht. bekannt für seine politschen texte blickt hans solo hierbei tief in die abgründe des menschlichen daseins. mal zynisch und boshaft, aber auch oft ironisch mit einem augenzwinkern. musikalisch schlägt er eine weite brücke zwischen oldschoolbeats und elektrolastigen fast schon psychodelischen klanglandschaften. auch das artwork des covers unterstützt das gesamtbild durch seine bildsprache und macht dieses doppelalbum zu einem zeitlosen gesamtkunstwerk. mit der unterstützung von nur wenigen anderen künstlern (lustikus, david dollar, sicktunes, the staticfield, adelsmann, chaid, ponchmann, peztboy) schafft hans solo hier seinen ganz speziellen mikrokosmos. auf einer fast 80 minutigen zeitreise in wahrsten sinne des wortes geht hans solo textlich wie auch musikalisch durch alle höhen und tiefen des gesellschaftlichen miteinanders.

onno is a highly dosed dancing pill, pop one and your rubber legs turn into those of fred astaire. his last release already proved that he knows how to make you put yo hands up in da air! now, heres his latest little treat >hablando loco ep< upon you number 048. the title track opens with some sweet vocals and then drills into your a1 memory banks with the spanish monolog from el commandante. on b2 hes quite content with the few words : >i like that beat<. but onno likes the repetetive use of vocals like a fitness trainer trying to squeeze that last drop of sweat out of you. gavin herlihy, who some of you know from cocoon, takes a subtler approach to the track with his remix that writhes in the scented oils that is house-deepness.
