zum 25ten label-jubiläum veröffentlicht fat possum ausgesuchte titel aus dem backkatalog erstmal auf vinyl so auch the george mitchell colelction von houston stackhouse. es ist george mitchell zu verdanken, dass viele klassische blues-aufnahmen entstanden und bis heute archiviert und verbreitet werden. ab 1976 arbeitete mitchell für das bureau of cultural affairs in atlanta, und er begann das land zu bereisen, um folk und blues-musik systematisch mit einem mobilen aufnahmegerät einzufangen und zu dokumentieren. diese arbeit betrieb er über eine dekade, und durch seinen persönlichen einsatz sind klassische blues-alben wie dieses von houston stackhouse und seinen befreundeten musikern entstanden. stackhouse spielte als erstes instrument die mundharmonika, und seit den 30er jahren spielte er in mississippi gemeinsam mit größen wie robert johnson. später verlegte er sich vornehmlich auf slide- und elektrische-gitarre. so spielte er in der folge auch mit muddy waters, little walter, jimmy rogers, roosevelt sykes und earl hooker.
