jono ma (of jagwar ma) and angus gruzman (of dreems, die orangen) present “the dreemas”. recorded between their studios in industrial north london and the rogue outskirts of berlin, the dreemas is an electronic cryogenic stasis of two life-long friends in varying states of crisis, conversion and transcendence in the year 2017. two minds and hearts coalesced into an ocean of sound, the groundwork formed with over a decade of instinctive studio sessions, sweat-riddled dj conferences, and shoulder-to-shoulder dance dos in clubs, pubs and dusty down under doofs. they’ve spent endless hours together at the bottom of salty oceans gazing up at alien aquatic life forms. for years they’ve shared synthesisers across continents, exchanged records, lived together, flown together and bleed together. and at long last they have signed a contract that says they will “techno together”. the past presents the future, and the future presents the past on this soul-state snapshot of 2 friends encapsulated in the epoch of a 12”.

unter der regie von mastermind jono ma entstand das album nach über drei jahren weltweiten tourens (u.a. mit bands wie foals, the xx und tame impala) und erfüllt alle durch das gefeierte 2013er debüt -howlin - hochgesteckten erwartungen.

nachdem das letztjährige jagwar ma-album -howlin- dance- und indie-pop-freunde gleichsam in seinen bann zog und die musikpresse in dem werk die direkte nachfolge zu primal screams -screamadelica- sah, ist nun die zeit reif für die -the time and space machine dub sessions-. beeinflusst von dub und krautrock hat sich richard norris (the grid) an die regler gesetzt und einige der schlüssel-tracks des albums nochmals radikal überarbeitet. jagwar ma spielen die beiden festivals melt! und dockville und werden dabei erstmals auf hiesigen bühnen ihre musik vorstellen.

ponds ungezügelte kreativität hat die band bereits in der vergangenheit die weiten des psychedelic-rocks ergründen lassen. mit dem neuen album -the weather- haben sie nun eine scharfe und fokussierte platte geschaffen, eine atemberaubende absichtserklärung, die über marathon artists (courtney barnett, jagwar ma) erscheinen wird. -the weather- bündelt einige der poppigsten momente des quartetts aus perth, welches mit der gewohnten neigung zum abstrakten und zur experimentierfreude auftritt. mit dem köstlichen duft der romantischen erwartung und der synthie-raffinesse nimmt sich der song des patentierten space-rocks der band an und suggeriert ein gefühl, als wäre er aus einer trevor horn blaupause entsprungen. wie der vorgänger wurde auch -the weather- von kevin parker (tame impala) in dessen studio in perth produziert. doch während -man, it feels like space again- einen rohen blick auf die garage-infizierte psyche ponds warf, ist -the weather- eine ehrgeizige, technicolore odyssee in der entwicklung der band.

this will be the first time the albums have been pressed to vinyl, following their debut 2008 (the sound of trees falling on people) and 2011 (+dome) releases, and marks the milestone signing to australia and electronic musics front running, award-winning label future classic (flume, flight facilities, jagwar ma). 30 tracks across two critically acclaimed albums, now featuring two unreleased vinyl-only locked grooves. it is a surprise that this album of sharp-edged, glacial, organic electronica, hails from sunny sydney, australia.
