opening track >what i do< introduces the ep on a poignant note with its sombre keys and emotive vocal flourishes without forsaking any of the force at its fingertips, driven by the bubbling subs and electric midrange. >fall< then sweeps in on a lush bed of glistening keys, soft vocal flourishes and a skipping drum line before crashing back down to earth with waves of warping bass tones blasting through the low end of the track. counterpointed by the soaring synth notes that flicker above, mydas balances the light and dark elements brilliantly.

the opening hits of the percussion stay smooth and relaxed, and the instruments come in one-by-one – first the synth, then the strings, then the brass – to create an experience thats both engaging and relaxing. this is the sort of music i would listen to if i cruised the streets of san francisco in the evenings. as >back to the bay< wraps up and pulls us into his remix of >screw up<, we get a dose of subscapes intensity, but its quickly pulled back into matty gs signature low-bass, hip-hop/dubstep fusion beats. >jam like a tek< adds in some vocal hooks to get the crowd chanting – and you are missing out if you dont add this into your mix. deep kick drums, a snappy snare, big distortion on the scratchy bass wobbles, and the vocals all come together perfectly to create a track thatll get people grinding like mad on the dancefloor.

brand new on dub police is a fresh new plate from kgb who hails from tallinn, estonia. a relative newcomer to the dub police camp but definitely one for the future. meat (ep) is the name and beefy bass is the game.

the original track is already a club anthem but that didnt stop emalkay from stamping his hallmark, head-smashing bass-lines all over the place. whilst roska, on the other hand, does what he does best flipping caspas infectious synth horns into a lustrous funky affair with a lethal combination of dancefloor drum-lines and his incredible sub-driven synth jabs. proper party music!

san francisco-based producer antiserum steps up for dub police with two unique collaborations, featuring local producers ill-esha and 12th planet respectively. his music is a masterfully crafted fusion of influences that results in a sound entirely his own, balancing light against dark and colour against pure bass pressure. showcasing a deft musicality as well as an unrivalled talent for system shaking productions, antiserum is taking the scene by storm. releases on narco.hz, s.c.u.m and argon amongst others have already propelled him to the forefront of the rapidly growing american dubstep scene, with plenty more still to come. on the a side, he is joined by ill-esha on >zephyr<, a sick g-funk inflected roller. skittering hi-hats and tough drums lay the foundations on this one, with the deep, smooth bass sweeping underneath. the vibrant synths weave in and out of each other with ease, swimming around the mix and swelling expansively through the speakers. on the flip he teams up with 12th planet on the massive >purple & gold<. the g-funk influences continue to flow through this track, pinned down by a hard bassline and taut drums. the shimmering synths sliding over the top of the percussion and off into the atmosphere give the track an epic stop-in-your-tracks effect.

d1 has once again come up with the goods, and delivered two brilliant old skool-influenced dancefloor tracks. >flood of emotions< featuring renowned vocalist jenna g, showcases d1s trademark melodic sensibility, while maintaining the tough drums and purebass pressure that makes uk bass music so exciting and impactful. driven by a classic hardcore break, the track penetrates right through you while the uplifting melody, complimented by jennas vocals, washes over you beautifully.
