wenn wir über tullio de piscopo (neapel, 1946) sprechen, dann über eine lebende schlagzeuglegende, deren karriere bis ins jahr 1969 zurückreicht.

originally released in 1983 stop bajon (primavera) became a favourite in rimini discotheques, balearic islands and even chicago during the early house days. it was an anthem on what went on to become the italo disco movement. the vocal mix is still revered and played to this day by dj s such as dj harvey at his mercury rising night at pikes, ibiza. this special limited edition release from best record italy features for the first time the original acapellas (tracked down during tape restoration) plus the song stadera that was available only on the first italian pressing and of course the original extended club vocal and instrumental.

this release is individually 200 hand-numbered limited edition cassette (100 pink and 100 smoke transparent) with a sort of greatest hits of (almost) all archeo releases (ar001-ar011) + an unreleased bonus track from roberto aglieri (ticino parte 4 il merlo), celebrating 3 years of the label, from 2014 to 2017 selected with love by manu archeo (ar001c). archeo recordings is a reissue record label that regenerates old, lost, obscure and forgotten rare gems of predominantly italian music but also all over the world of the 70s, 80s and 90s. all outputs are licensed by the artists and the vintage labels, audio tracks are remastered in their original form the sleeves and center labels are graphically recreated for today but all based on the original images. archeo would like to make the music available to a wider audience of collectors, djs, music lovers of a forgotten time. all releases are hand-numbered limited edition vinyl. the first copies of each release are pressed in coloured vinyls.

the mbo theme represents one of the first hits on the early days of chicago house movement. now came back with the plus of the unreleased italian version (on the side b instead of the unnecessary radio cut). this project is being managed by mario boncaldo the same man behind some other great italo-disco projects like tullio de piscopo - stop bajon and plastic mode - baja imperial today is enriched with this unreleased edit produced by mario himself back in the days and availabel only on the studio tape this cut is more heavy and club oriented because there are no vocals so there is more space for synth and bassline parts, a must play for every set!

from the boom of the international neo-lounge revival italy has become the point of attraction of an almost maniacal interest. there is a lot of research work from different italian labels behind it. thanks to them even the latest generations have the chance to meet the made in italy sound of the soundtracks and library music and even more notoriety has been given to the genial arrangers, composers and musicians who have characterised the italian lounge scene of 60’s/70’s, such as ennio morricone and piero piccioni. a precious recovery of the past to revitalise the present, which builds up new ideas of the future. “metti una bossa a cena”, whose title is completely inspired by the famous soundtrack of ennio morricone, goes on into this research field, discovering very rare tracks of this italian bossa panorama. we believe the result is perfect. gerardo frisina, track compiler of this project, has brought to light some rare tracks and perfectly matched them to create an unique and elegant thread.

pino presti comes back in 2018 on best record italy with another top class disco production. this time featuring the hot voice of roxy robinson on three unreleased extended disco songs from his 1977 quality archive. the drum groove is enriched by the percussions played by one of the biggest italian drummer tullio de piscopo.

uber bring the new mushrooms project ep. a slight diversion for uber into the cosmic afro infused musical stylings that the mushrooms boys are masters. madrugada s tribal energy is reminiscent of tony esposito or tullio de picopo. the italian afrobalearic groove that we at uber love so much. the big boobs is a slower more contemplative track, still holding onto the percussive feel but with hints of the east. i suspect the title is influenced by last summers trip to the great outdoors in birmingham. finally we come to the epic musical journey that is african obsession. continuing the fine italian tradition of tribal dance music this is a tight superbly produced trip into afrocosmiche. 15 minutes of hypnotic beauty. uber hitting the spot again.

known as pantaleon perez prado, was the younger brother of the famous king of mambo. pantaleon, who came to europe in the 1950s, recorded several albums with unifunk. a powerful big funk band sound featuring: tullio de piscopo, mario rusca, paolo tommelleri, pino prestipino and others. for this second lp, the obscure vocalist don alfio had gained enough prestige within the band to share the top of the bill with the bandleader. that is probably because, in october 1973, the love child 45rpm (which has nothing to do with the 1968 supremes hit) had enjoyed a good airplay on supersonic, a daily italian public radio show that presented a lot of freshly released records. the djs explicitly credited the record to don alfio with perez prado. the reviving of chicago banana from escandalo!, plus many new tracks including circle, imperfect and the jazzy chato, gave the record a precise latin-funk attitude. bossanova evergreen bahia (also known as na baixa do sapateiro) and a synthled version of ciliegi rosa (cherry pink and apple blossom white) are the only two concessions to latin standards.

like many of the greatest italo-disco records, tony espositos 1983 double a-side je-na/pagaia is ridiculously rare. put it this way: if you fancy nabbing yourself an original copy, it will make a serious dent in your wallet. this welcome reissue presents both tracks in their original 12inch glory, mixed with clubs in mind by mariano boncaldo of klein & m.b.o fame. its the a-side thats arguably the pick of the pair, featuring as it does a balearic-friendly blend of dense, bongo-laden rhythms, tribal chants and delay heavy guitars. theres a bit more of a hazy disco bounce to pagaia, which sounds a little like a long lost tullio de piscopo record, all jazz-fusion scat singing, sunny horns and shuffling rhythms.
