following up their initial warning debut with a split single in 2020, we are pleased to welcome back the fierce combination of sansibar and reptant on warning. for our annual 7- release we invited them to remix each others track in celebration of the friendship that connects us. on the remix of lizard of oz we got sansibar adding a catchy vocal sample and shifting the psychedelic electro vibe into some more clubby realms. reptant on the other side treating the subtile original of my boom with his signature deep and pervasive production style. the result of those young geniuses coming together again is a thrilling spectacle for any lover of contemporary electro sound.

“no security” captures a stand-out stones show, with the band on searing form during the closing leg of their american tour in san jose. treating the crowd to an up-close and personal experience and leaving a frenzy in their wake. the set list spans from the mid-sixties hit singles to the bridges to babylon album, including a bluesy, dramatic version of ‘midnight rambler’, a dark and swaggering ‘out of control’, and the rarely performed live, ‘some girls’ and ‘saint of me’. the show was an electrifying, anthem-packed, cross generational hot ticket, concluding yet another chapter from the band that wrote the book on rock ‘n’ roll.

after three major releases by tell, nachtbraker and s3a, its time for debuting italian artist verner to close our beloved trophy quartet. this milanese key virtuoso is ready to blow your mind with this eccentric yet humble ep, taking you on an emotional journey. long stretched pads, playful chord progressions, organic percussion all produced with analogue 70s and 80s vintage synthesizers and drum computers in verners studio reminding us a bit of harvey sutherland and nu guineas style. were talking groove, funk, jazz but also house and soundtrack style compositions which together form a very complete record carefully a&rd by nachtbraker. drop the needle on the a side and youll start off with linizio, a majestic piece of synthwork. hurdling through different emotions and vibes, this could easily be the intro of one of your favourite 80s tv series. upset takes you on a happy groovy tour whilst crash of the web era and the motion pictures take us on a trippy and ambient voyage that is hard to wake up from. when flipping the record to the b side, verner is stepping back into the groove and funk with tecladista, arguably the dance floor hit of this debut ep. starting of with again a majestic synth intro area drops into a festive funk and jazz bomb with some intricate synth work treating us with some lovely solos. closing this versatile ep is late night job, a deep, deep tune with a thriving baseline and mesmerizing synths. we suggest to dont sleep on this one and have a listen to this piece of art by the very talented verner.

rather than rely on their usual full band, live performance, one-room live single recording session, the making of ‘dragonz’ was a departure for the apples. a multi-studio project spanning three continents, they assembled new instrumental tracks based on loops created in the studio and presented them to a wide-ranging selection of vocal collaborators to complete the picture with, and applied this method to the capturing of longstanding live favourites as well. the concept of a “vocal album” was implemented on non-vocalist songs as well, treating the omnipresent turntables’ sample work not as the central element to the band, but rather its frontman. though containing disparate influences, guests and production methods, ‘dragonz’ is undeniably apples, might be their most focused lp to date, and it is certainly their most middle-eastern. elements of the region’s indigenous genres have always been present in the band’s work, but never has their influence been as pronounced.

hot on the heels of the transcendental and mystical vibe telemetry long-player of the man like telephones, we proudly present: vibe remixes. some of you might notice the irony between the lines. a producer who goes by the name of call super is remixing an artist known as telephones. but, we rather rivet you on his 8:59 long skippy dub journey that recalls (pun intended) an atmosphere that could be found in the space between smith & mighty, the ltj bukem of his youth, italian house records, british balearics and bass affine music (of whatever providence). a magical mystery. but we don’t hang up here. dj fett burger is treating the other side and only he himself knows how he made what he did. 14:51 min of almost every style ever invented in the scope of house music. designed for people blessed with an everlastingly short attention span and djs on the lookout for a toilet break and a coffee break or whichever break, it leaves its listener speechless. and: its so much fun that once its over, you want to redial fett burgers number immediately.

there’s not a lot to tell about the project glow in the dark by a certain harry miller. only perhaps we can state that with these eight tracks at hand harry miller accomplished probably the most enchanting album of the still quite young year. just when we wanted to dismiss the short-dated genre of chillwave wistfully, “future bliss” comes along with a bewitching sound hailing from an optimistic but cranky future. already the opening track “step one” with its vocal samples and its spoken word intro is futuristic soul full of affirmation of life pillowed on a synth bedding smoothed to the max up to its edges. but also the following seven tracks spread infectious positive vibes all around. the magic of glow in the dark’s tracks is energized mostly by miller’s delicate way of treating his various samples, a wary manner one usually only shows when picking up a guitar. and unlike sample based music feeding from hiphop his tracks are completely free from any sort of nostalgia, because all of his songs are designed for the future through and through. “future bliss” is one hell of a joy ride, from the first note to the last tone. the neon funk of “1987”, the broken beat of “7 billion = 1”, the synth pop of “the last dance” and in general, all of the eight tracks could be little, but great hymns on their own. but only in its entirety they sparkle this fathomless ingeniousness hidden in glow in the dark. in the end it seems to be wiser that one has as little background information as possible to be able to lose oneself fully in this “future bliss”.

after a spot of chronological chaos last time out, nado regain their numerical composure with a sumptuous four tracker from new york renaissance man quinn lamont luke (bing ji ling) loose and limber after a chakra aligning cover of loose ends for phantom island last summer, the paqua frontman brings his linen suit and boat shoes to the good ship nado, joining moonboots and boardman for a relaxed session of horizontal dancing. taking a pleasant vacation from his trademark blue eyed soul, qll packs up the mic and lets the music do the talking, treating us to a dreamy quartet of instrumental grooves.

both tracks reflect his signature sound, taking time to evolve into soundscapes that expand outside the familiar borders. the latin american influences embedded in * choice of ancillaries* leave us hints of its vivid melody surfacing beneath its tight percussions. on the b side we find its darker counterpart, * grounds and shields*, treating us with a more acoustic flow, sewn graciously around the incisive bassline.

bristol hub soul motive scored a massive coup in enlisting punch drunk boss peverelist to remix >stableface<, one of the standout tracks from clouds of moments, the 2010 debut set from lithuanian experimental dubstepper eleven tigers. that they choose to complement it with two further remixes is tantamount to treating us, with both dark sky and macc on board to further re-contextualise the cracked atmospherics. in the hands of dark sky, >stableface< is twisted into a brooding dark side steppah with subtle hints of jungle pressure pervading the lower reaches, the 50 weapons trio playfully teasing with the vocal before dropping in a bassline that can only be described as rude. on the flip, macc showcases his enviable drumming skills with a heavily cinematic roller of a remix dominated by those rumbling, live rhythms

when it comes to offbeat raw detroit house music you cant really mess with omar-s and his fxhe label. on this new double pack hes keeping it in the family with his cousin big strick providing us with 3 fresh tracks and omar-s treating us to his versions of his cousins tracks. both twelves flow nicely, mixing up early chicago sounds (think virgo, larry heard) with some uber-crisp drum programming from strick and omar-s. fans of big stricks 7 days ep will not be disappointed with this. six tracks filled with raw grit and jacking rhythms, house heads should definitely pick this up.

reissue of album from 1975/a satisfying dramatics collection that includes their revised, campy version of me and mrs. jones, which had remained a staple of their live shows. astrology was riding high in the mid 70s, and (i m going by) the stars in your eyes provided fodder for astrological discussions as the guys poo poohed the differences in personality traits associated with the signs. a good balance of fast and slow tunes helps make this album a winner. good things dont come easy and never let you go are two frantic dancers that chug along faster than a speeding locomotive, while trying to get over losing you succeeds in treating losing your lover in a positive, uplifting way. the guys must have been loaded with material to keep this one off a 45. likewise for the aching, painful i cried all the way home, one of tony hesters best compositions, and easily the best ballad on the album.

radius unleashes part 3 of its best of superradio series treating us with yet another timeless classic. fuerza major by camaros gang, one of the more edgy italo disco groups, is one of those tracks that effortlessly show us how those mad italians went on to influence 80s pop music for years to come. fuerza major has all the essential elements, typical vintage bassline, cheesy pop melodies, catchy and vague i met this girl in a new york discotheque vocals straight from a melancholic heart. its simply joyfull nostalgia from 1985. as to the remix, tensnake, who already released a brilliant ep on radius, did the honours and gave fuerza major a deeper disco vibe with plenty of his own funky twists and turns. radius set off once again to make you shake your hips to the past of the future!
