remastered reissue featuring three fantastic hard-to-find classic rump shakers from hamilton bohannon. bohannon was one of the key forces in disco in the seventies and this is him at his best - his instantly recognisable sound is pure uncut boogie mixing riffing guitars, bad-ass funky bass and pounding drum tracks. first up is the super-rare long 12 inch version of me & the gang a superbly funky track popular with everyone from tony humphries to carl craig with its great chunky beats & a killer piano groove later sampled by paul johnson for his hit get get down, followed by the groove i feel - a monstrously good floor-filling gem unearthed from his 76 album dance your ass off. on the flip you get the awesome full 12:45 minute version of maybe you can dance another slamming disco-funk stomper only ever available as an elusive 1977 12 inch promo. quality stuff!

the mighty shoes crew follow up their miles davis 12inch with this 4 track ep of bohannon re edits/remixes. deep and groovy and sure to please. me & my diva (a groover), summertime groove (with some serious slap bass), save their soles (deep head nodder) and come and dance (awesome!).

repress - tyrone davis was a hugely prolific blues & soul singer who was born in mississippi in 1937. he started his career as blues legend freddie king’s personal chauffeur and valet and cut a few soul 45’s that didn’t make too much noise at the time. a few years later things had turned around for young tyrone and he’d caught the ear of chicago music impresario carl davis who had just set up his own label - dakar records. having worked with legendary outfits including the chi-lites, bohannon, jackie wilson and many more, carl davis was exactly the link that tyrone needed to gain more exposure for his music. after a very successful career with dakar and almost 25 singles with the label across 7 years, tyrone signed to major columbia which is where, in 1978, this much sought after promo-only disco jammer came from. released in limited quantities and only available as a columbia white-label dj promo “get up (disco)” is a total mid-tempo burner, raw funked-out soul of the highest degree! true underground disco flavour here, one for the freaks, smooth, but heavy enough to cause some serious damage in the dance. featured here in it’s original promo 12- mix, untouched and backed with the equally dope “in the mood” from 1979. some of you will undoubtedly recognise “in the mood” as a jam that was heavily sampled by the beatnuts, faith evans, mc eiht, redman and more! this one’s a low slung, lights down lovers jam and the perfect foil to the a-side. two heavyweight jams on one 12”, remastered from the original source material and 100% legit, reissued with the full consent of sony / columbia records. essential for all disco / soul / funk fans.

ahmed fakroun a singer/songwriter from libya is widely considered the foremost pioneer of modern arabic world music. his 1977 hit misyan has been recently edited and its production shows how ahead of his time he was. ahmed, a fan of claremont, teams up with mudd to create a bohannon style groove that will give you neck ache from head nodding. beautiful cellos from robin faze action slide in and out and a warm rhodes vamp keeps pushing it towards the next part in the journey. brennan green takes the remix duty and adds another classic remix to claremonts collection. this is something special.

italic would like to announce antonellis new album soulkiller. it is stefan schwanders aka antonellis 6th album and was produced using analogue drummachines, synthesizers and sequencers only and recorded live without any overdubs onto an old-school tape recorder. the result is amazing: antonellis house music on soulkiller is so incredibly rough and emotional that it reminds of the garage rock from the stooges. and the tracks sound as if esg was doing cover versions of moodymann. moreover, you will find flamboyant pop references, from bohannon to te r ry hall. the first single release taken from this album is the track hamilton and comes in the original version and in a remix version
