paul white received universal acclaim for producing the majority of danny browns genre-defying atrocity exhibition album. in 2016 he also released a collaborative record with open mike eagle, and began work on a slew of solo material to be released on r&s records. with a free beat tape ‘everything youve forgotten’ released in january he now returns with danny brown on two tracks that showcase a producer at the very top of his game and one of the most exciting mcs of his generation. accelerator is a fuzzed-out psych monster that defies conventions about what rap music should sound like in 2017, while lions den proves that paul white and danny brown can beat the traditionalists at their own game too. instrumentals are included for both, as well as hand-drawn artwork by paul white himself.

for the past two decades, ivan smagghe has perfected the art of making spaced-out clubbers dance, has ridden a fine line and run his label les disques de la mort. rupert cross is a london-based composer who has worked with michael finissy and julian anderson as well as writing music for television and theatre. before/after ma, an album which sat on the fringes of experimental music passed through an industrial particle accelerator. s&c give you the tracks codenamed timothy dalton (according to ivan, the laser sound in the track reminded us of flash gordon). neither pop, nor psychedelic, nor ambient, nor house, nor techno, nor post punk nor even new wave are spared, but none are singled out. to nurture this proto-album, the duo also called upon the talents of tim felton, the outstanding guitarist from the cult band broadcast.

the recordings for the wires cracked were completed in a frenzied two week period in october of 2012. i had mentioned in discussing a previous albums construction that i prefer to forget how i build any particular electro-acoustic amalgam. this is so that i dont get to precious with them, so that i could refine them further, so that the sounds themselves speak beyond their aggregate parts. with the album being relatively fresh in my mind, i can still recall various components to the wires cracked -- the desolate howl of a metal screen activated by a desert wind, the hissing air compression from the cooling apparatus for a laser at the slac national accelerator laboratory operated by stanford university, and the tremolo rhythms from a thin wire that still get me thinking fondly of günter schickert -- but much of the caustic drone, thrumming reverberation, and tactile grit thoroughly escapes me. that is probably for the best, since these various parts speak to an existential rupturing, the collapse of the self, the aftershocks of dark energy, and a belief in the hope for renewal. the radioactive orchestra is a scientific musical translator based on our current knowledge of the structure of atomic nuclei in nuclear physics. using the radioactive orchestra, we can create melodies and rhythmic patterns that are based on the nuclear energy levels and gamma radiation observed in experiments at accelerator laboratories around the world. radioactive orchestra remixed is the result of a competition held by studio barnhus, kth royal institute of technology and ksu. using radioactive orchestras online music composer, contestants were able to submit their own compositions. the two winning contributions, by the zzzzz and abdulla rashim, have been remixed by Âme and jonsson/alter.

marcus meinhardts new record is there and with it a hole rig of remixes. checkpot has become a typical meinhardt that twirls with a cool funkyness and mysterious melodies through the dancers brain. the producer and dj okain which is known especially through his releases on tsuba rec. is taking the theme by the fuze and is relighting the dancefloor with his bass accelerator. our upon you approved colleague pele also likes to play with fire and got together with the artist findling for his remix. they turn the wind towards the morning and let the flames turn into a trip-dub direction. similar does the upon you artist echonomist who stears the digital bonus track with a heating value of glowing soundscapes as usual.

when primal scream s exterminator – or xtrmntr – came out in 2000 as the last album on alan mcgee s legendary creation records it made quite a stir. mcgee must have told the scream to let the label go out with a bang , and boy did they deliver.
