repress! fresh new signing for the slow life stable, coming all the way from sweden. on his first ever release, the talented basement space presents his approach to the very recognizable mix of breaks and deepness which the label is mostly known for, but giving his personal flavor. overall, the ep has a strong influence of the classic ukg/2step sound, rounded with a cheerful jazzy track on the b-side.

this is cliff music: a berlin based label spreading and supporting the many facets of house music. the mission is to give talented producers and friends a stage to share their vibes with the world.
cliff music kicks off with a four-tracker featuring the aussie slamb, french boys vitess & mangabey, and last but not least leipzig’s finest, luvless. the a-side starts with a melodic summer anthem “minor secret” by mangabey, followed by slamb’s house-driven disco bomb “why stop now”. on the flip side, luvless provides wobbly synthesizers over crunchy drums and grooves. vitess closes the ep with a 90’s and 2step reminiscing dancefloor hit.

nice price deal !!! a co-production with benga ? the brilliantly sparse, bleepy >green eyes< ? is going to grab peoples attention, but the other three tracks here are easily as good. sarah goldielocks akwisombe makes outstanding modernist electro-pop with dark, emotionally intense lyrical themes and a hefty dj-friendly dubstep wallop, and is without question a talent who is here to stay. the ep is overall inspired by london, underground music scenes ? 2step / garage / grime and dubstep, paranoia, relationships and concealed emotions.

berlin-based obstacle records returns for its second release with another ep that draws on uk garage heritage while offering its own fresh take via a trio of newer names to watch out for.the ep’s original track comes from lesus - a hitherto unknown name that splices its stripped down ghost-esque rhythmic backbone with an uneasy chiming melody. the a2’s remix from obi - another name to keep track of - retains the pace & 2step stylings of the original while combining it with a chicago house sensibility.on the b side we find two alternate versions from the mysterious prince of ethiopia. the 808 version mutates the track into a old school hip hop instrumental, with the aforementioned 808 sounds to the fore, replete with vocal sampels, record scratches and ray guns. the mt40 version takes those elements, loses the snarling bassline, and pins it all to a broken beat rhythm, once again underlining obstacle’s reverence for uk dance music culture & its desire to push it into surprising new territory.

philadelphia’s fox brings an eclectic array of sounds and artists together for his first vinyl release on jersey city based label green village. their third vinyl release showcases tracks with slanted percussion and multiple flavors of techno and breaks. the accompanying remixes from fabricator and undrig bring you a taste of 2step as well as a classic big room dubstep sounds.

swedish producers mr. tophat & art alfie partner up to drop an intergalactic 2step rendition of luca cazals maya for a fidgety number that incorporates spacey synths and otherworldly chords. meanwhile on the flip spanish duo acid mondays deliver an infectious groove courtesy of convoluted percussion, mesmerizing synth licks and a purring bassline. tying things together brigante provides a rendition focused on undulating rhythms whilst vocal murmurs resound throughout the mix.

gamma audio specialize in deep moody electronic/edm music including the genres of dubstep, dnb, bass/experimental and 2step sound. artist signed from all over the globe pushing a particular sound that has taken the dubstep/ edm world by surprise.

hands up is the production team formed by the analogue cops (restoration/appointment) and alex picone (cadenza). their analogue joint venture has groundbreaking results. machine powered house music heavily influenced by the berliner dub techno and by the funkiest 2step, with a debt to detroit. this first release features 2 dancefloor killers recorded on tape and saturated with bass.

aleph04 comes with three special reinterpretations of the labels first three eps. mano le tough is first in line. his remix of > flowers on fire< from aleph01 takes the originals colorful and spaced out vibes and puts them into a little more dancefloor friendly context, with a big 808 booming away and the swirls of the original synthline driving the track forward. mano has been a big supporter of the label right from the start and his releases on permanent vacation, buzzin fly or internasjonal have been turning heads quite a lot, so its an honour to have him on board. the second remix is by wasted gaze. this newcomer from vilnius / lithuania delivers an amazing version of >port hope< , taken from aleph02. a powerful, 2step / garage inspired beat sets the pace, while glowing pads, a super deep bass and enigmatic vocals take care of the rest. watch this guy, his untitled states ep on partyzanai is one of the most intersting and exciting records in a long time. the last track is a remix by aera aka m50 from chicago, who, quite fittingly, took care of this spaced out take on whats my name again? from aleph03. this one is for the heads, a special gem that will work magic in the early morning hours

dixie yure is the incarnation of contemporary oldschool house music from seville. after some digital only releases it is about time for some haptic experience. with the 10“ record „show me satisfaction“ on berlin-based label fenou his sound is rotating on turntables for the first time. monotonous minimalism ain’t dixie yures world. the sound tends more towards 2step and builds a homogeneous and pleasant mixture with classical house elements and vocal parts. you just cant deny yourself dancing the >chicken dance< and stepping like hell! thanks to the funky improvisations extending over the whole track you wont get bored even after listening to >show me< for the hundredth time. the a-side is just fun - in the club as well as on your couch. you wont miss the low-pitched vocals on the b-side either as they are typical for the spanish producer. >satisfaction< is a little more reduced than >show me< but is enhanced with jazz elements such as pianos and saxophones. it shows that wind instruments in electronic music dont have to be annoying tribal elements. in this example acoustic instruments do not just get mixed up with house music but merge to one groove – absolutely rocking tune!

meet desto. we found him wandering the streets of helsinki, eating canned tuna and drinking the water from a tin of hot dogs, desperately clutching armfuls of sticky future garage. starting off in spacey 2step rhythms, falling over bassline, and breaking down into an euphoric 8 bit cascade, the epic >disappearing reappearing ink< finally reaches wax after being in the boxes of pretty much everybody all year. on the flip, >broken memory< was given its first exclusive airing by oneman on radio 1 to much acclaim, and takes more of a straight up approach, and retains all of the fluid c64 chiptune beauty.

nice price deal !!! 1975 is a slow build 2step workout with skittery beats and thumping sub that delivers in all the right places. think el b meets aphex twin under a tropical sky. ai nadia is a throbbing afro step monster. shuddering sub bass and chanted vocals collide to create something very special indeed.

hot city is dropping some severely skewed house music, twisting it up with his own blend of jackin chicago house, 2step/ukg, and bass bumpers. with only two tracks sent out to a handful of the finest djs around in the past few months, he s secured two gigs playing out at wifey, certainly the most fun club in london at the moment, and managed to generate a fair amount of hype already:

the tracks on this new 12 inch build on the momenetum, with two tracks of stripped down dancefloor killers - >yeah!< is a monster builder, all todd edwards style swing and tight edits with crazy deep kicks, chopped up vocals, old school piano stabs, soaring strings, and hands in the air breakdowns. already being played out by drop the lime (check his latest exclusive mix for fact magazine where he opens his set with >yeah!<). >head work< on the b side is on more of a masters at work/harddrive era tip - deep garage beats tripping over themselves, burbling oddity synths, shuffling snares and the weirdest vocal melody breakdown/build-up ever!
the originals are complimented on the 12 inch by two remixes - tvo takes yeah! to another dimension altogther with a head destroying 140bpm hardcore junglist remix. on the flip, san franciscos eats tapes take >head work< into the wonkiest area of minimalist techno, showcasing their totally unique take on future groove.
the ep has been mastered by the irrefutable shawn hatfield/twerks special touch, bringing out the strengths of each track and tweaked for that perfect crisp warm vinyl pressing.

merry, amusing nonsense - some of the attributes used to describe the last kritik records. these terms are unlikely to be appropriate here: the young sebastian simmert from the outskirts of berlin has submitted his first own production. noticable are the influences of techno producers from recent years and the work of this 22 year old demonstrates he knows the whos who. is this an up and comer? the first track is in the tradition of pumping bodzin/romboy works, the second references 2step, including the bad little ravemonster. finally, a hymne for the early morning hours, for the more contemplative dancefloor - enjoy while sipping bionade. beyond minimalism

this is dubble ds debut for winding road. it takes in so many directions that it makes your eyes boggle this ep has everything! because of the varied musical angles, its no surprise that its called the bug eyed ep. one track is twisted chicago robo funk, another sits in between hiphop and android disco, another is latinojazz warehouse rave, and the other is deephouse 2step. and of course they re all brilliant
