revered swedish producer sebastian mullaert releases his first exclusive vinyl on default position after the huge success of his remix to vedanta in 2014. sebastian first made his name as one half of the acclaimed duos minilogue and son kite, but in recent times focuses on his solo career, which sees him appearing at clubs and festivals all over the world and releasing on some of the industry s most respected labels and imprints. samunnati is a brand new double vinyl ep featuring four original mixes from mulleart, with remixes from fellow swedish duo johanna knutson & hans berg, belgium s danieli and label founder joseph s. joyce. its genesis lies in a melody recorded live on sebastian s roland sh101 which has been resampled and processed in many different ways, offering several contrasting mixes to suit many different tastes and styles.

sebastian mullaert is of course first of all known as half of minilogue, a duo so influential in the hypnotic field of techno that korg recently named a synthesizer after them. lately, sebastian has focused on his solo path under the wa wu we moniker, releasing stripped back and personal music on his own wa wu we label, the cryptic s.e.l.f label and now on kontra-musik. on the title track travellers, sebastian mullaert uses a straight up techno formula that may surprise listeners who haven t followed his move into wa wu we territory. you almost get the impression sebastian buried a recording destined for a rigid techno label in a deep forest back in the 90 s and has now decided to uncover it again, finding that the track has matured under the black soil.
to release a new piece of music, it would seem, is to enter a competition for approval and appearances: who will play that track and how many will follow. likes. clicks. transient signs of appreciation, or perhaps just vague nods of confirmation. but what about all those values inherent in music that just cant be quantified? if merely one single person would listen to these songs and find herself or himself genuinely moved by them, wouldnt it be worth it? we think so. we really do.

the wurst edits gang has inducted yet another ny disco acolyte to the fold, the inimitable irishman-in-new york, eamon harkin. known for wild dj sets not to mention his innovative bookings at such parties as sunday best and fun, harkins no stranger to dance music. no wonder the mans shared bills with such legends as afrika bambaataa, juan atkins, grandmaster flash, the egyptian lover, and kevin saunderson. on his debut single, the man heads straight into peak-time territory with the sinister sounds of >john boy<, where synth toms jump out of the shadows only to punctuate an incredibly propulsive groove. >innit< takes a decidedly different turn down edits lane, rejuvenating an early 90s house gem in magnificently wurst fashion.

obwohl man annehmen könnte, dass 1993 alle italo-disco nuancen aus den anspruchsvollen italienischen produktionssystemen dieser zeit verschwunden waren, ist es schwer, ihre präsenz in diesem speziellen werk des italienischen djs und produzenten gianpiero pacetti zu ignorieren.

aufgenommen wurde die acht songs umfassende platte innerhalb von nur zwei tagen im september und oktober 1968 in den century sound studios in new york. unterstützung erhielt van morrison dabei von dem gitarristen jay berliner, dem bassisten richard davis, dem perkussionisten warren smith und dem schlagzeuger connie kay. es ist das erste album, das der sänger beim label warner brothers produzierte.
