grammy award winner louie vega is known worldwide as one of the finest creators and purveyors of house music, both as an individual artist / producer / dj and as partner with kenny dope in the renowned production team known as masters at work. his multiple musical talents have also brought him much acclaim in the genres of salsa, afro-beat, jazz, hip-hop and soul. last year he reached another career milestone when his album “louie vega starring...xxviii” was nominated at the 2017 grammys for best dance album, which further solidified his position as one of the industry’s premier artist / producers. but not everyone knows about louies deep respect, admiration and knowledge of the disco genre that laid the foundation for so much music that moves crowd on dancefloors and festivals today.

crown of brahma are charles stella, nicole willis & daniel wyatt. the songs “an angel on my shoulder” & “and i’ll be free as a bird” were recorded in the period between 1995-1997, originally set for release on an lp on rawkus records in 1997. this album would have followed the release of the group, repercussions, album charmed life (pony canyon, 1997). nicole willis was the lead singer / songwriter of this group. charles stella & daniel wyatt worked together at temple of soul in new york city, where some of charmed life was also recorded. these two vocal tracks have never been commercially released, however were heard by tommi grönlund of sähkö recordings and leftfield, who requested to work with ms willis in result. the two tracks have been remastered in 2017 by charles stella.

having previously appeared alongside tommi vicari jr on a 12inch last year, opto mystics strike out on their own with this 12inch for italian powerhouse vibraphone. new horizon very much represents the new school approach with the long serving italian house label, keeping that deep, melodic quality but embracing new rhythms, tones and approaches. new horizon almost has an akufen quality to it, while bucky triangle could easily transmit from the motor city house scene. m.i.y.e. is a swirling blur of gorgeous synths, and -suddent- finishes the ep off on a surprisingly experimental tip.

berlin based japanese industrial synth duo group a make their debut on mannequin records with a killer 3-tracks self titled ep. tommi tokyo (synth, drum machine, vocals) and sayaka botanic (violin, tapes and sampler) released 2 studio albums and 1 live album in tokyo, before to move in berlin in 2016. with their mixture of dark minimal synth, avant-noise, striking visuals and performance art, the duo still carries on the very breath of early industrial pioneers such as throbbing gristle, die form, klinik, cabaret voltaire. the ep was recorded in tommi s bedroom and later mixed together with mannequin records head alessandro adriani in his own studio in berlin. the first two tracks of the ep, t.o.p. and ketabali represents the duo personal reaction against the current economy, an up yours to capitalism, news and politics, all permeated by industrial rhytmic-noises and words with no meaning. the b2 alibi instead was inspired by an autobiography of hi-red centre(japanese avant-grade art group in the 60-70 s) written by one of the members, genpei akasegawa. tommi found the word alibi in the book and she just started singing about the group. as she never wrote lyrics for that, during their live performances they are always improvised, so changing and mutating every time.

perfect toy proudly welcomes new signing to its family: korpifunk! originating from southern finland, korpifunk is made of a bunch of musician friends who have fun making music. whenever they spend time together to work on new tunes their approach is simple: to create organic music with a contemporary feel, using live instruments mixed with programmed sounds. on their debut ep you are going to discover the outcome of a fruitful collaboration of a handful of creative minds. toni lamberg acts as the producer but he also plays guitar, bass and synthesizer. on vocals and harmonica we have toni koskipuro, on trumpet jarko manninen and on keyboards viljami viippola. tommi veneskari on saxophone completes the line up. none of them is a beginner in the music field as each and everyone has worked in different bands and production teams since the mid 1990s.

adballons (made-up word from ”advertising balloon”) was a duo formed in tokyo and active only between 1986-88. equipped with some gear (casio cz-5000, teisco s-110f, roland mc-202, roland tr-909, korg kpr-77) and influenced by the music of d.a.f, kosmonautentraum, tommi stumpff, propaganda, the flowerpot men, cassandra complex, this heat, the pop group, spk and laibach, they released just one 7” in 1987 and played some shows in local clubs before disappear and become part of the obscure and inscrutable japanese underground scene. limited to 270 copies on 10” vinyl including the four original studio. everything remastered from the original reel-to-reel tape. each copy comes with a obi strip, an insert with some photos/lyrics/credits and a numbered card.

since the millennium 2raumwohnung unites electronic sounds and pop melodies in a variety of ways. the early singles wir trafen uns in einem garten (2000) or 2 von millionen sternen (2001) playfully communicated the life-style of a new berlin. the duo, consisting of inga humpe and tommi eckart, started as a studio project and continued to develop via eight album productions. at the same time, an important impulse included developments in techno or house music. their most successful album 36 grad stayed in the german album-charts for 33 weeks, 2raumwohnung continued to expand their stage range as well.

mysterious brooklyn label and production crew getting in the game with some techno and ebm bangers. all are re-workings of recognizable or obscure classics. “looping blood” the clubbiest of the ep builds around a controlled bleeding loop and blossoms into a spiraling unstoppable groove accented by crashing reverbs and jackin drums. “alaaarmed” is a pounding re-edit of tommi stumpff, early german minimal punk not unlike nitzer ebb. “take two” is a great remix of front 242’s epic industrial classic “take one” dubbing out the lyrics for an instrumental approach. “open bar” puts the scissors to skinny puppy’s early 80s classic “last call” looks like the aptly named effective weapns label certainly providing some hot jams for this fall. fans of dark entires, minimal wave take notice

deko deko are lena seik and tristan schulze, based in leipzig, germany. the duo creates their music by computer, synthesizer and vocals. conventional song structures are fractured and deconstructed to be reconstructed and defragmented in the end. that might sound experimental but deko deko write hymns with orchestral parts and mad choirs, but always electronical too. neustadt is the first album of the band, to be released on o*rs in september 2016

the secret after-hour über-hit of the 90s, matthias strzodas tasse kaffee, gets its first release on 7inch vinyl on berlin-based label martin hossbach. strzoda is the go-to drummer for andreas dorau and rocko schamoni. while working on songs for dorau in the 1995 strzoda wrote the lyrics to tasse kaffee while dorau, tommi eckart (of 2raumwohnung, acting as producer) and strzoda composed the music. the b-side gives us a previously unreleased living-room demo from 1994 by strzoda of the andreas dorau classic

first release on new malmö based vinyl label kess kill, run by rivet. kess kill was started with the will to continue the legacy 1979-1983by bands like liasons dangereuses, tommi stumpff, xao seffcheque, geile tiere and others, music that oozed techno, long before techno was a concept. some of the music on kess kill will be brand new, some will be 30 years old, but it will all be unified by the naive frustration and punky rawness that has long been absent

2012 - we are milleniumized neo, more than ever before. 1993, when techno was all over the place, german experts tommi eckart (at that time not 2raumwohnung yet) and ralf hertwig (at that time not palais schaumburg anymore) released a track, which found its way out there as a legendary underground-club classic in germany,england, benelux and france: the beat just goes straight on and on. its been sold out for years, but djs still play it in the clubs and it never lost its beat. now in 2012, almost 20 years later, the vinyl reissue being released, including the original cut and a remix by matthew styles & tobi neumann. it just goes on and on, enjoy!
