after making a great impression with its first ep, giant records serves up a second hot helping of house music from boss man grant dell, complete with fresh remixes by scottish techno stalwarts silicone soul. dell, also known as chicago transit authority, has been doing his do for 25 years now. as a dj he is at home in clubs in ibiza and barcelona as well as around the rest of europe, and is someone who always prefers to push his own brand of widely infused and influenced music than his own profile. once again here he comes up trumps with the emotive, glowing house cut ‘in your mind’. with a neat bassline and mid tempo house drums, subtle but effective synth smears add warmth and colour to the groove, whilst soul fuelled vocals add a real sense of personality. this is sure to get people grooving at any hour and comes with grant’s own space echo remix. as the title suggests it’s a more dubby and reverb rich affair with cosmic signifiers and sci-fi vibes pervading from start to finish. silicone soul need little introduction having been at the heart of real deep house and techno for decades on the soma label. their first remix is a darkroom dub - named after their own label - and is a seductively slo-mo and lazily unfolding house cut with languid synths that really suck you in. their lush hypnohouse mix is then a twinkling, late night bit of melodically rich deep house with starry skies twinkling above sombre chords. this is a patiently served but hugely alluring ep that is stuffed with plenty of tender feeling. one again then, both grant and giant have come up with the goods.

as a preemptive strike before soma unleash their specially commissioned compilation, transmissions glasgow, we are proud to bring you one of the highlights from this as two of scotlands biggest techno exports, slam & gary beck, come together for pressure lights. a track celebrating slams long running club night pressure, that has been at the centre of scotlands techno scene for almost 17 years. big room beats and furious snares are the order of the day as the 2 techno titans deliver a monster track designed to destroy any dancefloor.

already known worldwide for his one of a kind techno productions and dj sets, oliver deutschmann is a name that wont fade anytime soon. since launching his label vidab records in 2007, he has seen a steady amount of releases on his own imprint as well as other establish labels such as aim and soma quality recordings. after teasing us this summer with keep rising oliver returns to mobilee this fall for a full length ep featuring his signature techno sound. taking us on a mental journey we are delivered three solid techno thumpers that will work wonders at the peak hours of any set. the ep will bring the crowd into a world of pure techno bliss with heavy kicks, hypnotizing pads, and a dash of acid to tie it altogether in a cohesive package.

now a regular member of the figure roster, young portugese talent lewis fautzi resurfaces again, fresh off the back of an inspired full-length debut for soma records. continuing with his own take on the darker, trippier end of the techno spectrum, we re treated to 4 new tracks, beautifully sequenced and alive with energy. from the depths of fautzi s studio, >signal of the light< emerges with its deep resonant acid tones and broken beats. setting the mood, fautzi then unlocks the monster inside with three club-designed cuts that rattle, fizz, gyrate and swell with precision intensity. a name to keep an eye on without a doubt, its no surprise this young man s vision of modern techno is finding its way into dj s sets far and wide.

the globally trendsetting house and techno family that is visionquest now turns to a new pairing of sonny fodera & gene farris for their debut ep on the label. entitled ‘we work it’, the two-track affair comes with a remix by visionquest man lee curtiss. australian sonny fodera has been at the sharp end of the dance music scene for years now, clocking up huge hits both solo and with green velvet aka cajmere, releasing albums such as afterparties & aeroplanes and appearing on cajual, defected, suara and many more top labels. gene farris, of course, is a chicago house legend who has been active since the nineties, runs his own farris wheel label and has released close to one hundred definitive eps on relief, soma and many others. up first, ‘we work it’ is a lithe ritual of house funk with bent synths and slick mid tempo drums. a spoken word vocal snippet muses on the intake of various substances and the drums roll on infectiously below. it’s sure to be a standout anthem in the months to come given that vocal line and the spiritualness of the keys all around only adds to the effect. the first remix comes from lee curtiss. this one is a much quicker and more peak time bit of tech house with textured, dynamic bass and plenty of drum fills. it’s an involved, more cosmic and tense take on the original, that will build great pressure on the dance floor. all in all this is another on point package from visionquest that will get played far and wide

the second installment of re interpretations form slams latest, critically acclaimed album reverse proceed sees soma look to yet more highly regarded techno artists to provide their reimaginings of their favourite tracks from reverse proceed. long time soma collaborator gary beck makes a welcome return to the label alongside fellow scottish upstarts clouds and finally dutch techno wizard, jeroen search. each brings their inimitable style to the project.

samuel l. session, a techno producer from sweden who founded the labels sls and cycle and now runs the klap klap imprint. apart from that, he has released on drumcode, soma, music man and kms records. in 2007, samuel l session was featured on kms 091 - kevin saunderson’s release – “history elevate 2” with a remix for “pump the move”. now in 2015, samuel l session presents his second artist release on kms records with “the talkbox ep” the talk box ep kicks of with an “original mix” that is a dark, deep & groovy. detroit inspired techno pumper that features a deep bass line with haunting chords. move on next to the “concrete mix” which provides a bit more airy feel. on the b side the soulful groove b1 “birth of blue” featuring elbee bad providing whispering melodic vocal sprinkled on top an ever moving progression that even includes some great horn stabs. rounding out the ep is the b2 “birth of blue” featuring elbee bad & andreas saag, providing a groovy solo-esc piano, riffing throughout this already groovy number

ceol is the moniker adopted by glasgow’s dom cappello and lee duncan. dom’s productions as hutton drive have appeared on cult labels like soma and the frustrated funk sub-label, frantic flowers, whilst as half of harri & domenic he continues to hold down the residency at glasgows legendary sub club. fellow glaswegian lee duncan records as leeon and debuted in 2012 on the cult seventh sign label. lee will also return under his solo alias later this year.

the carousel le carousel is the new band project from acclaimed belfast dj/recording artist phil kieran. a dj with an international reputation, kieran is also renowned for his techno productions on dance labels including soma, novamute and bugged out! in the mid-noughties kieran formed punk/hardcore act alloy mental, who released the album we have control on skint records in 2007.

mooch recordings kicks off with the imperial street ep from quenum, the man behind cadenza and a back catalogue of hits across labels crosstown rebels, orac, soma, trapez, to name but a few. his his legendary set back in july cemented his place in the mooch hall of fame and also put him on the radar for the first ever release on the label. quenums hypnotic, groovers on this ep are just right in building up the night, riding through peak time and out the other end down at the afterparty. on remix duties we have invited tim xavier to weave his tech magic and add his signature harder, darker sound to this killer ep.

first record for a label that is part of a long project, which began with the radio program the-zone. after numerous releases in the digital label, the project confirms the primary concept: the techno sound. an original version of the well known logotech (darknet, nachtstrom schallplatten, etc) with remixes signed by three major icons of techno: audio injection (truncate, electric deluxe, droid, etc), samuli kemppi (mote evolver, perc trax, m_rec ltd, etc) and the duo space djz (kombination research, soma, fine audio, etc)each word is useless, only techno!

the next gorgeous release on mad musician. this time frank muller presents the horizon remixes. horizon has been one of his biggest hits and one of cocoons & somas best selling vinyl re-released and new mastered. ulrich schnauss the master of electronica, funkdvoid the scottish king of techhouse, tigerskin as one of berlins busiest producers and beroshima himself. 4 remixes by senior master producers. each single name stands for an outstanding quality. the funkdvoid remix and beroshima mix has been remastered. those two mixes were released on soma in 2009 but not distributed in many areas. ulrich schnauss comes with a gorgeous techhouse mix and we are glad that ulrich will do some techno productions on mad musician. you all must have heard of tigerskin and his well crafted music. this outstanding producers comes with a classic floorstomper american style. the funkdvoid mix is still one of my all time favourites next to beroshimas skyflyer.

tireless producer, tronic boss and top international dj christian smith here steps up for his first release on plus 8. over the years christian has offered up a high volume and high quantity of techno inclined singles for myriad labels (bedrock, systematic, 100percent pure, soma), so it only makes sense he now finds himself on one of the scenes most reliable outposts for such material. the two track ep kicks off with house is house which is, as the name suggests, a little house-ier than the flip, but still deals in plenty of heavy bass weight and slick repetition. the devil is in the detail filtered, dark voices, rattling cowbells, washes of white noise synths and long, thin, forward looking pads - all of which are married to a mid-tempo groove. the more forceful indulge me then follows. taught kick drums start immediately as claps and subtle synth stabs swell in volume until they eventually fill out the whole airwaves. squirming behind are thin and icy steel lines until the first drop when the deliciously bouncy groove sets in proper. far from aping the usual detroit and chicago tropes, christian smith has once again crafted two classy dance floor joints that are not only exquisitely produced, but that bare all the usual hallmarks of christian smith, one of the most consistent producers in the game.
