two more missives from the leng stable, a stable basking in late afternoon sunshine the whole year round. here we have two remixes of cantoma tracks. on side a is ray mangs remix of under the stars a subtle disco groove, with a sweet rolling bass and a languid horn line that gently eases into the back of your mind, luring you into a hypnotic swirl. over on side-b lexx steps up to deliver an equally stunning take on gambara immdediately setting out a more electronic lilt, the track steadily builds into a mid tempo throb as the vocals wash over proceedings, while flute and acoustic guitar make way for each other in the melody stakes. timeless sounds on both sides evoking the summer just passed
wavetest are a new collective from zurich, 4 young guys in their early 20s which have their roots in disco and house. two of them have already released a single on chicagos mathematics label under their late invitation project name. they are also a great live-act with bass, keys and drum machines and their dj kejeblos is one of the most promising hopes of zurichs new generation. he is a resident at zukunft and was discovered and supporte by our buddie lexx.
we are totally into their groove as we really like their open-minded approach and we honestly believe in them. their tunes impress by a really forward thinking attitude and can be played at any time during the night. this is a perfectsummertime single and we just had so much fun playing the tracks out. because to us this is exactly what we call b-boy house.
a very special vinyl only release!!! for obvious reasons this is a black label style vinyl only release here on mountain people. 009.1 has been around for a while and has been supported by the drumpoet community guys, above all by lexx/kawabata, who has pushed to make this a proper release. the mixdown pressed here is actually a very early raw recording which he kept (we didnt). so thanks lexx, we owe you one.
lets have fun! - thats the mantra of big zis and the crew of nation music. the swiss black music label has been broadening its musical spectrum over the past years. just like the artist big zis, whose music could most likely be labeled electro pop alternative punk rap, they dont care about common conventions. while rap becomes more and more pimped out, house loopier and minimal narrow-minded, big zis hooks up with a top-class troupe to get it her own way. for her most recent album und jetz … (and now …) she worked with marton di katz and valentino tomasi (both members of kalabreses famous rumpelorchester), who laid the musical foundations for most of the songs. for the impulsive electro on the track suure räge (acid rain) however, big zis collaborated with the techno producer michal ho (tuningspork) at the studio. suure räge got remixed by several well-known producers: robag wruhme (freude am tanzen) and canson (gs zürich) are to be found on volume 1 and the soul brothers lexx (aka kawabata / drumpoet) and kalabrese (stattmusik) successfully combat boredom on volume 2. the sound scapes of the remixes couldnt be any more diverse and cover a broad variety of styles. and be sure: volume 3 - work in progress - will delight you as well
big with: loco dice, 2000 and one, brothers vibe, lauhaus, rozzo, shinedoe, sebo k, thomas schumacher, motorcitysoul, xpress2, ray okpara, losoul, matt tolfrey, h.o.s.h., solomun, ripperton, lexx, osunlade, jimpster, chris carrier, manuel tur, langenberg,
played by tim sweeney, only fools & horses, guillaume coutu dumont, sebo k, shit robot, mock & toof, fabrizio mammarella, toby tobias, willie graff dflex is the project from house music aficionado & x-press 2 member diesel & restless soul producer felix hopkins. both have been involved in electronic music long enough to understand the finer points of whats needed to create something of substance and with dflex they have formed a platform to explore their love of house music, techno & jazz. here we have their debut single, waltz, remixed by two very talented producers, switzerlands kawabata (a.k.a. lexx) & us producer dave aju. both offer outstanding offerings for those who like it deep..
supported by richard dorfmeister, kaos, solar disco, diepvries, lexx, dj morpheus, aeroplane !! swiss outfit low motion disco follow up the laid back funk of >love love love parts 1 + 2<, their debut singles for eskimo, with >things are gonna get easier<, a beautiful and delicate track that oozes soulful charm.
permanent vacation is going in the second round of antena remixes with belgium s disco devil (in dfa style), nouvelle vague, lexx (aka kawabata / bear funk, drumpoet) & the cosmic italo trio phreek plus one (compost) on the controls
with this release on drumpoet he presents kadena,a track which already acclaimed much attention by the likes of âme and dixon and creates a fresh symbiosis between disco and detroit. an emotional and bootyshaking tune which can take you higher and make you want to move it. on secret playground he goes into the more dubby side of this ep and provides a deep minimal excursion with a warm and almost cinematic feel. lexx is a musiclover so his spectrum is huge, but all we can say is, that this man knows what he does and there are many things to say about this record but theres nothing better than listening to it

leng records follows up last years out of town album with a selection of remixes and re-works of tracks taken from cantomas second long player ! out of town fused a wide variety of sounds and styles resulting in a beautiful, otherworldly album that moved effortlessly between blissful flamenco, shimmering, slo-mo nu disco, dubbed-out tango and haunting, ethereal soundscapes. the remixers were hand picked by cantoma aka phil mison due to their unique approach to music and their complementary production styles and the result is an album bursting with downtempo and dancefloor led remixes.
