its been a while since the last release by mark august on connaisseur, but now hes back with an extraordinary one. two tracks, both like a fairytale of a country far, far away. a fable, with mystic and mysterious animals and creatures, might best describe what mark had in mind while working on the tracks. the wasps from tunisia and the silver piggy – the main track on this release is an uncommon piece of music. it starts moody and with a stoic pumping beat, yet also a somehow laidback feeling. it then unexpectedly and surprisingly builds up to a monster of a track, working manically towards its climax. then however, over the length of the track, it completely transforms again, coming back to its beginning, as though nothing had ever happened. scorpions groove is a deep and dubby affaire.

after the big success of our first release on outils du connaisseur, we present the second strike, this time by afrilounge-member liapin. basila is his the first solo release, and all the more an impressive one: two deep and slamming house-tunes, basic but concurrently fond of nitty-gritty. according our outils philosophy these two tracks are genuine strippeddown house cuts for maximum floor impact. basila – a massive, slapping bass, rolling drums and shreds of guitar sounds are the dominating trademarks of this track. once the compelling groove catches you, the hypnotizing vocal in the break will inevitably bewitch you. this is one for both body and soul. black mamba features a bassline so corporal, you almost inclined to give it a social security number.

incl. a huge my my remix !! simon baker has been playing records for over 15 years now. being a true aficionado, his versatile and passionate dj sets are never bound to just one style. he is a firm believer of “if it’s good, play it”. his passion for deep electronic house and techno is further fortified by releases on his own imprint infant records. 2007 has been a brilliant year for simon so far, his fast-growing reputation is proven by current residencies at a number of uk’s acclaimed underground house nights including asylum & technique at the warehouse in leeds, and ddd at the key in london. apart from connaisseur, simon has recently been signed up to german top house label playhouse, and has also been picked by steve lawler as his worldwide support dj. for us, he opens his pandora’s box of production and delivers a masterpiece of current club music

next sure-shot from the berlin boys plasmik – the success that these two brothers have already had with their first release >eight to nine< and their remix for ripperton is impressing. licensings for steve bugs fuse sampler, loco dices time warp mix and jamie jones get lost mix are just a selection of their current achievements. furthermore, they will release an exclusive track on crosstown rebels. the crowd and the djs love their style. inspired by us-techno cuts from the middle of the 90ies, they transfer and interpretation of this sound into today. with their newest release, they raised their understanding of dance music to a new level. pitch it is a dubby house track with pitched piano elements and a catchy hookline. this outstanding tune, which is already in heavy rotation, was licensed for claude vonstroke s mixmag mix.

essential compilation! already played by sven väth, karotte, laurent garnier, jimpster,…. >grand cru< is a term used in the wine business and normally denominates a special wine, which is made from the best grapes of both one wine-producing area and one vintage. the stylistic diversities featured on this compilation arent less refined and versatile. at the same time this compilation boasts of a representative selection of artists who already released on connaisseur as well as up-andcoming new members of our artist pool. this selection is the beginning of a periodical series which will be released on a yearly basis. apart from afrilounge coming along with an elegantly lowered house groove, another artist who has already released on connaisseur, surely jochen trappe will be setting the benchmark with his glitch-rock-tech track. there are more familiar faces to be encountered – for example daso teaming up with his ingenious partner pawas. they both make even the most lame couch potato taste their own very special beaujolais and freak out on the dancefloor - blood , sweat and tears!

big with: damian lazarus, kiki, jimpster, ripperton, p.toile, m.monday daso franke, a fellow well known not only for his fantastic releases on mbf and connaisseur, but also for his furious live-sets, sets out to bring the noise again. after having been inspired by the nerdy world of old-schoolish adventure games for his last release, he uses the dissolute world of absinthe as an afflatus this time. he takes us to a land where alluring little green fairies buzz around and people cut their ears off under absinthe’s massively woozy influence. thujon: the impact of well-made absinthe depends on its concentration of thujon. it can best be described as a kind of heightened clarity of mind and vision. and this is what this track is all about - 100% thujon! louche is the name of the cloudy effect you achieve by adding water to spirits, which contain anise, like absinthe does. this track starts with a low-key groove, which forces up to a mental dance affaire, including a genuine rocking daso-esque break

ripperton released amazing records on famous labels like planet e, wagon repair. for our last release on connaisseur in 2006, he saved two outstanding tunes. >tainted words< is a killer club hymn combining two mesmerizing parts. >tainted words (plasmik rmx)< is deeper than the mariana trench. plasmik, our new boy wonders from berlin, grab the outstanding original, vivisect it and recompose it into a deep underwater journey. a must for lovers of deep detroitish cuts. >farra< is far more than a track. ripperton specially dedicated this one to his family and his closest circle of friends. a very personal and pleasant soundtrip, more a song than a track – a short emotional story teller

incl. motorcitysoul rmx !! dani casarano, better known under this dj-name tony mass, is a famous dj in his country of choice: chile. born in italy, grown up in the french part of switzerland, he is a widely traveled cosmopolite. his dj career started in lausanne in 1992, where he quickly became well known because of his explosive combination of techno and house grooves. in 1997 he arrived to chile as a guest of luciano for the techno culture party to play along chilean top djs like ricardo villalobos. nowadays he just finished his club tour through europe, several releases on well-known labels are planned and he can look back on hot sweaty dj-sets together with top class djs.. el zapo hablo is a wonderful dreamy and floating tune. the emotionality in this track is more focused on a winterlike atmosphere….
